Matt has never left, he's been there from the start until now although all the 3 Lola understudies changed at cast change in August last year

Can't say I expected School of Rock to win Best Musical but I'm very happy, I love the show!

I'm throughly looking forward to this now that it's official! I've only ever seen it on Tour, last year and about 10 years ago. I also have a dodgy video of it from Broadway.
It's by no means a favourite show but it's a reminiscing thing for me, I adored the movie as a child too. I also love Miranda and I said previously, shes 6ft1 and with heels on she will be at least 6ft4 or 5. That will be hilarious to see her towering over the 4ft little girls.
I'll be booking during the general sale tomorrow, hopefully I'll get a ticket for the first date.

Can't work out how a "Half Price child" ticket is £46 when full price is £69 - that's definitely not half price! Anyway got my £20 seat for the first performance Where can I get a ticket right now ? I can only see presale and sale both starting at different times tomorrow

Who's casting this? Is it same cast as Tour? I imagine some of the cast will be the same but I won't be surprised if its all new people either. The tour finished last year and the production moved to South Africa for a couple of months with all different cast so its not as if its an instant transition from UK Touring into the venue. I would like to see the same man play Oliver Warbucks. His name slips my mind but he was great!

So has Ruth ever made it on as Effie yet or can we accept that this is never going to happen ?

Alex Tomkins has joined the cast, I assume as a swing, and is playing Mr Wagner tonight. Yes he joined as a swing, I'm not sure if he is an extra swing or someone has left ? In other news, Grace Schneider, who is usually one of the ensemble kids, went on in one of the main child roles tonight at the last minute, 'Summer Hathaway'.

Any idea when the apparently alien concept of being able to act may be mentioned? I was discussing this with my friend earlier, Is the show like Thriller and there will only be songs ? The complete lack of mention of acting makes me think so but then it would be pretty boring. Does anyone know if there is plans for a storyline like We Will Rock You or Mamma Mia or is it just young lads having a sing song along to Take That songs ?? I'm embarrassed to say my mother is a HUGE Take That fan so if anyone else goes to see it in Glasgow (presuming it goes there, or Edinburgh), expect to see her there being the one we always talk about in the Bad Behaviour thread.

Jersey Boys isn't anywhere near my top 3 too Bear but I can't help but tap my foot everytime I see them on TV! A bit unusual seeing that many Jersey Boys but I suppose it was good for the crazy following of the show seeing a few old faces back

A shame for Matt Thorpe in his part there, he didn't get to showcase his voice at all. I'm very lucky I got to see him on as Frankie Valli 2 years ago and he was excellent, he has also played Galileo!

Well my day consisted of a long day of studying Forensic Psychology. Also I saw a lady put a 1p coin in a homeless mans cup today, I know they say every little helps but I thought that was taking the mickey. I had a dream last night that I saw the Kinky Boots UK Tour (hopefully one day) and an angel fell of the stage onto my lap.... if only it was real life!!!

I would really like to see Miranda in this role. However, saw the tour before so have no real desire to see the show again. And I don't think Elaine C Smith is as well known in England as she is in Scotland. It was an incredible smart move for the producers to have her do Scotland tho I think it was the best bit of casting they did on the whole tour! She is a household name in Scotland having done many televisions comedies and theatre shows and she was a regular in many of the big pantomimes here also. I went twice, 2 Tuesday evening over the 2 week run and it was sold out both shows which I could confidently say was due to her being in the show. Something also makes me think she did an early version of 'Calendar Girls' or 'The Girls' in the back of my mind but I'll have to look that up. After Miranda I would love to see Jodie do it, she is still one of the few known west end names and would still sell tickets off the back of her name even though her show was a while back now!

I saw Elaine C Smith as Miss Hannigan on the tour last year (she did all the Scottish dates - Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen) and she was excellent but I highly doubt she would get cast in a West End production of it, is she even known in England ?? Everyone knows her in Scotland. Miranda would fit this role very well I think, and she is about 6ft1 so it would be funny seeing her towering over all the 4ft little girls.

For anyone interested, here is a picture of the current 3 Lola understudies all in costume! From left to right and in order of cover- Craig Thomas, Simon-Anthony Rhoden and Jemal Felix they've all been on in the role and all within about 2-3 months of starting in the show!

I think this will do well in its limited run. It's a show nearly everyone is familiar with including the tourists and it's very popular with kids which there is a lack of in the West End since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory closed. Getting a familiar name like Miranda in will also get a lot of adults in too who will know her comedy, and if Craig takes over afterwards then even more strictly fans! I for one look forward to it, I enjoyed the tour last year and the set reminded me of Matilda

There is a Let It Shine TV recording on Friday 10th February at Elstree where 16 Jersey Boys will be performing! You can get free tickets at LostInTv.com I would like to think it's 16 men that have played Jersey boys but chances are it will just be the contestants lol although the email does say 'an exclusive performance with 16 Jersey Boys for the very first time'

Sooooo thought I would see School of Rock for the 2nd time on Thursday Matinee as I saw on twitter that the 2nd cover Dewey was on, he was excellent!! Definitely on par with Gary Trainor who is the alternate (some say he is better than David Fynn but I haven't seen him so wont comment)... anyway, bad behaviour is the man behind me in Row B discussing with his girlfriend/friend/wife/random lady before the show if he should turn his phone off. I obviously thought to myself he would decide to turn it off or at the very least on silent, but I never heard what his final decision was and I forgot about the conversation. Fast forward to Act 2 and during a very silent part of the show, HIS PHONE STARTS RINGING AND VIBRATING and most of the people around him give him the British death glare.... what makes it worse is that after the phone stopped ringing after 5ish seconds, he then preceded to discuss with his girlfriend/friend/wife/random lady if he should turn it off in the off chance it rang again ? I worry about some people sometimes

Really disappointing news....is there really an appetite for this?..think it will die a death..,who wants to see this when Matilda is still on? There are plenty of great shows knocking on the door of the Piccadilly Theatre and Annie ain't one of 'em! I'm not active anywhere else other than this forum so where is everyone hearing about this opening in London and Michael Ball ?! If they managed to get him in, with Craig Revel Horwood, guaranteed success I think. But only a temporary run, it isn't needed for an open ended show when we have similar shows running at the moment.

I hope this doesn't come to fruition...not that there was anything wrong with it, but there have been such better shows looking at the Piccadilly. Still, if it's a short term filler, better than a dark theatre I suppose. I agree, it was very good for a tour but the set was very bare and they would need to upgrade it substantially for it to fill a west end stage. Although Craig Revel Horwood would certainly get the punters in, I never saw him in the role as Hannigan but he did get good reviews.

Apparently Annie with Craig Revel Horwood 😔 Oh wow where have you heard this ?? I saw the tour and it was great but it would need to improve the set for it to be west end standard, and the fact the set and the production has since moved to South Africa

Jersey boys finishes soon. What's going into Piccadilly? ?. Nothing at the mo! Do you think there is genuinely 'nothing' or that they've just not announced it yet ?? The rumours would maybe point to Finding Neverland but as we all know, rumours are rumours. But then it wouldn't close for no reason.

3 older ladies at Kinky Boots yesterday during the matinee, sitting in the centre of the 2nd row of the stalls. They felt the need to laugh during the show at a point I have never heard being laughed at before! During Charlie's phone call to Lola ?! ruined the moment for most, but they weren't all too bad... I had a little eavesdrop while they were talking after the show and it turns out one of them had recently moved into a nursing home in Camden and has a son called Simon! if you've seen the show you'll understand why that's quite funny. Also when Lola does her short speech after Hold Me In Your Heart and stops to then walk over to her dad in the wheelchair, someone made a loud wooping noise and did one loud clap and it threw off Craig who was on as Lola which ruined that moment also.

I've always been slightly confused by this movie, is it a full musical or just a movie with a few songs ? The trailers don't make it out to be a musical but it's always classed as that in articles. I plan to see it at the weekend regardless!
