I also once bought a day seat at Matilda on a different visit to the one I previous spoke of. The day seats at Matilda are £5 and in the upper circle. I approached the box office before the show because I saw online there was a lot of seats still free and asked if I could sit in the stalls.... They said yes! And I know other people who have done so. I ended up on the end seat on the front row and if you know that theatre/show, you're so close at some points you could touch the characters
If you don't ask, you don't get, in my opinion.

Is it ever proper to move to a better seat if it is empty? Easy enough to check online if it is available maybe? I've had people tell me they would never do it and, equally nice people says of course they do. I've done it at Matilda and Kinky Boots when I could only get back row upper circle seats. I checked with an usher at the interval both times to see what seats were definitely empty and they said it was fine! In the Adelphi and the Cambridge there's a big difference in the view from rear upper circle to the front of them so it was worth being cheeky and asking.

Ensemble wasn't officially announced in the press release, but are slowly being leaked on Twitter. Mark Isherwood is joining, presumably as a cover for the dads. That's good to hear, him managing to get straight into another show after being in Jersey Boys. I can't find any of the other leaked people! Who else have you seen ?

I thought that after remembering about the video but the role was played by a black woman within recent years. In regards to other replies from what I said earlier, I hadn't realised Elphaba had been played by a POC in London but had been aware it happened in the USA. I'm stumped with what it could be!!!

Shame they haven't seemed to include any ensemble members in their press release?! I saw someone tweet the official account on Twitter asking about the ensemble and they said it will be posted in due course

I agree with Daniel about the Donna alternate, I don't think it's really needed in terms of the performance being hard but it must be hard to blend older looking ladies into the ensemble who are able to cover Donna.

Thanks guys, I only really know the past 4/5 years of Les Mis fairly well so I hadn't been too sure.
Elphaba or Glinda perhaps ?

Yeh personally I couldn't see her as Miss Honey but I thought I may as well say it to see what other people think. Matilda certainly doesn't need any stunt castings right now.
I forgot he said 'long running' so maybe a role in kinky boots is a long shot even if the more I think about it, I would like to see her as Lauren.
Fantine seems the most likely as I can't remember ever seeing a black woman playing the role but correct me if I'm wrong.

Random, out there suggestion, but Lauren in Kinky Boots? She was hilarious in Sister Act, and it sounds crazy, but a black woman has never played that role and would certainly boost ticket sales that are already good! That's a good suggestion even if I think her voice is quite low compared to the women that have previously played her. Especially if Matt leaves this cast change and they don't get a 'name' into replace him. I'll throw Miss Honey into the bag too.

Possibly Miss Hannigan in Annie ?? I think she would be too young personally but I'm struggling to think of what roles it may be if it's a 'first' for someone like her to play the role.

I saw this this evening in Glasgow and can report that I thought it was a great show and couldn't fault much about it! it was a full cast on tonight. Carolyn's acting is superb, I'm very thankful I never saw Sarah Harding.

Also worth checking out performances at the Royal Conservatoire Of Scotland. I agree, the talent is exceptional in that school. Its on par if not better than some of the London schools. I saw this years 3rd year MT class perform recently and it wouldn't have been out of place in a west end theatre.

So, I am now seeing this tonight, and I suspect wasting 2 and a half hours of my life and £35... but I could be wrong, and I honestly hope I am and the show shocks me. Personally, I loved it. I know a few others who have gone in only because others have told them they HAVE to (due to them liking it themselves) even though they didn't particularly want to, and have ended up loving it. Let us know what you think

Les Mis for sure, I didn't fully understand the story until after my third viewing and even after watching the movie I was still picking up bits of the story I hadn't noticed previously

Edinburgh has the Playhouse and the Festival Theatre, between them they get just about every major UK Tour so it's worth checking out to see what's on.
Glasgow has the Kings Theatre which is probably the main theatre in the city. It gets many of the tours and a lot of top quality amateur musicals/plays and several known comedians
There is the Theatre Royal (owned by the same people who own the Kings) which gets the occasional major tour but is more known for its classical pieces such as operas and ballets. It's a great theatre which has been recently extended and modernised with a beautiful foyer and museum.
There is the pavilion theatre but that tends to only get local theatre groups on and tribute acts, if that's your type of thing.
If you want something small, authentically Glaswegian and something different then try the Tron Theatre or the Citizens Theatre.
I'm a regular to the theatres in both cities so I'll answer anything if you want to know anything more

I agree, as well as being eye candy, he is very established and has been excellent in the 2 shows I have seen him in.

Any other word on casting yet? It is just under two months until the first performance. I don't expect any more stars as they would of announced that by now, get some more tickets shifted, but I wonder if some of the tour cast will come on board, particularly members of the ensemble! 3 previous Annie's from the tour cast but not necessarily as Annie as they've probably outgrown that role, mainly taken up by known west end kids. In terms of the adults I heard Haley Flaherty (Miss Honey in Matilda for 3 years) may be Grace, but I have no proof of that lol just something I heard off others.

I think the returning queen might be Cynthia Lee Fontaine, it looked like her CUCU! Very happy Nina won.

Jemal Felix is on as Lola this evening (3rd cover) for anyone who can make it down, although it may be sold out since it's a Saturday, always worth a try. He is playing opposite Paul Ayres as Charlie, the smallest male in the cast with the tallest! I would love to see them on together.

Bend it? 😂😂 Dreamgirls had a mostly positive reception here. The reception for Titanic on this board was immense and is what made me book. I think The productions standards Have taken eveyone by surprise As we haven't actually had a major revival of a huge vintage show for a while Not on this scale The point it really proves Is why most new musicals in the WE Don't survive Because they are sh*te And cheaply staged And don't excel in any department We have become used to low standards as the norm And this show puts all that into perspective Why do you start a new paragraph for every half sentence ?

Well I saw this yesterday, WOW is all I can really say.
I went in with low expectations due to some people here being cynical about it all. I went due to a former classmate of mine being in the ensemble and it was a spectacle! Amazing dancing, outstanding ensemble and great leads. 2nd trip already booked for May.
I hope word of mouth spreads for this and the critics review it well as it deserves it.

The role of Lorrell has been recast. Asmeret Ghebremichael takes over. Now all three dreams are American.... Wow, that came out of the blue! Or is there something I missed ? I wonder what happened to the original Lorrell or if she has been cast in something else and they let her leave early.

I've been wondering this for a while so thought I may as well ask here.
When a theatre is dark, are the front of house staff completely out of a job ? For example, between Charlie and the chocolate factory closing and 42nd street opening, are the staff let go and expected to come back 2 months later or are they dispersed to other theatres within the company ? Can they contractually leave the company if there is no work or do they have to stay on for the next show even if there is no work for 2+ months ? Is it in their contracts that they may have no work at all if the show closes ?
Any info around this would be great, not for any reason other than I'm nosey and curious!!!

anyone know when the cast change is? are mainly leaving? Sorry for not being much help. I'm not sure when the cast change is but I know Marsha S is leaving (ensemble/understudy Jasmine) as she tweeted about it not long ago. I imagine with a show like this it will have a fairly big cast change with most leaving.

Jerry Mitchell was at the show on Saturday. I'm assuming he's in town for cast change? Any news on who's leaving this year? Yes, unfortunately cast change. They do the auditions so early for this, the new cast don't start until August! It must be the only time Jerry can get over to 'oversee' things.
