Sorry but how is anyone going to know rhat now!? I know people cannot be exact and Chichester cannot give a guide time, as they will be open to accusations if they got it wrong. Showgirl and I are in the same boat, ai would wish to see the longest show in the afternoon, seeing the shortest one in the evening, to give the best shot for the 22:07 Three Bridges train. Also the Minerva can sell out quickly, so feel forced to buy my ticket ASAP and going blind on running times. it would be handy if Chichester on a 2 Show day, did the occasional 7pm start, but saying that I guess the make up of the audience is local, so this is unlikely to happen. Thats the way of the world, they know a fair proportion come from London, and there are direct trains. I travel from Birmingham New Street and a matinee is doable in a day but onviously if i do a double header i stay over at Premier Inn or Travelodge. The same when i will go up north next month for Spring Awakening and Paint your Wagon, you have to take educated guess based on experience re what train to book.

I saw the RSC production in 1991 which had Roger Allam as Jekyll and SRB as Hyde. Remember it as pretty good, some cool illusions for the change. Dont really like Daniels so fiving this a miss

Anyone know the running times for the new shows please? Planning to do couple of double headers, Festival and Minerva in the same day, however to do this I need to see the longest show in the afternoon, to give me the best chance of getting back to London. Sorry but how is anyone going to know rhat now!?

Particularly with Freddie Fox as Lord Goring! I'm glad it's not just me that thought this! Considering he is 28 (and Goring admits to being more than 30 ) and she is well...considerably more than 28! And they were meant to have been engaged? Some odd casting here!

I went to the Hampstead Theatre website to book a ticket for tomorrow night or next Friday night, not worried which, so was very shocked despite the tepid reviews and poor word of mouth on here the whole run is SOLD OUT, I wonder why? Is there anyone well known in the cast? So now on that strength, I expect this to transfer to the West End, I wonder what is going into the Ambassador next? That'll learn you.

Me too, surely even Mr Phantom must have heard of her ?

I know it’s ridiculous but I can’t help obsessing over what costume they’ll put MB in. I can’t picture him in anything but a a tux with braces and a dickie bow or a grey shiny suit. I DO like Michael though. I think he’s adorable and seems like a genuinely fun and funny chap. I’ve only seen him once live in Hairspray where he camped it up hugely and owned the entire evening. But for this part...? I’m adjusting and kind of looking forward to it but in a different sort of way now. AND that orchestra is going to be AMAZING with that score. You can’t take that away. He was amazing as Sweeney Todd. A complete transformation. Ha! Was just going to say that. He was a revelation in it opposite La Staunton.

Just for a bit more tonyloco showing off, here is part of what I wrote about the production of Sondheim's 'The Frogs' recently at the Jermyn Street Theatre: "In the original play by Aristophenes, the competition is between the Greek poets Aeschelus and Euripides (they are mentioned in the verse of Cole Porter’s ‘Brush Up Your Shakespeare’) and it is this competition that is replaced by the competition between Shakespeare and Shaw as envisaged by Shaw himself in the very last play he ever wrote – a ten minute piece for puppets where the two rivals quote from their own works in trying to outdo each other on various subjects. It made me feel very smug that I recognised this play by Shaw – nobody else anywhere mentions the existence of Shaw’s play." Thus the memoirs are coming along nicely! Yes, Shaw saw himself as Shakespeare's equal didn't he? But Shaw , though he has his moments, isn’t 'for all time'. We don’t 'speak' Shaw every day do we? But funnily enough we often quote Willie as we make our way through this imperfect world. Ryan, I’m all for another My Fair Lady, which I consider a superior work to Pygmalion. Causes the odd argument in my house 😉 Hmmm, yes lets agree to disagree on that L!

Half agree with you as ive never "got" Beckett but you cant, indeed i would argue, shouldnt like everyone. I saw C&C ages ago with Alec McCowen and Amanda Root, very good. I love Shaw, he is one of the titans. Amanda Root. Haven’t seen her for ages. Juliet opposite Daniel Day-Lewis’ Romeo in the best production of that play I’ve seen. Didnt see that but i think she is v underrated. Her RSC season in 1990 as Cressida and Rosaline both opp Ralph Fiennes was superb. She seems to pick her roles sparingly these days.

I haven’t seen too much of Shaw. But I would like to see Major Barbara, Mre Warren’s Profession, The Doctor’s Dilemma and Man an Superman. But a commercial producer drop 2 of my suggestions and do Pygmalion and Saint Joan. For Beckett obviously Waiting for Godot, Endgame, Happy Days and one other Maybe All That Fall. Hmmm, Mrs Warren had WE run and tour not too long ago and the other three on your list have all had recent revivals at the NT. I would hope Dromgoole will pick some others.

Two of my least favourite playwrights - brothers in tedium. The best option would be Shaw's "Shakes versus Shav" which has a running time of ten minutes (and uses puppets) and Beckett's "Breath" which lasts 35 seconds. I have always been vaguely interested in Shaw's other Shakespeare-related plays "Caesar and Cleopatra" and "Cymbeline Refinished" but doubt they'd be worthwhile. Best of a bad job would be "Pygmalion" and "Waiting for Godot". Half agree with you as ive never "got" Beckett but you cant, indeed i would argue, shouldnt like everyone. I saw C&C ages ago with Alec McCowen and Amanda Root, very good. I love Shaw, he is one of the titans.

For Shaw: Heartbreak House, Apple Cart, Devil's Disciple and Caesar&Cleopatra As for Beckett, i doubt it would happen unless you had mahoosive stars vecause beyond Godot, joe public wint know the plays but Endgame, Happy Days and Krapps last tape. But as i say it should be Shaw next and i hope Dromgoole takes the opportunity to programme some of the plays not done for a while.

So glad I saw this at the intimate Minerva Theatre at Chichester last year for only £48! The prices for this are unbelievable - £100 £125 even £145 for Premium super seats! Still it has to be the last major stage role for McKellen and he is absolutely riveting! Snaptastic!

André and Madeleine have been in love for over fifty years. This weekend, as their daughters visit, something feels unusual. A bunch of flowers arrives, but who sent them? A woman from the past turns up, but who is she? And why does André feel like he isn't there at all? THE HEIGHT OF THE STORM is a beautifully compelling family drama by Florian Zeller, 'the most exciting playwright of our time' (The Guardian). Starring two of the greatest actors of their generation on stage together for the first time, this major new play from the writer of Olivier Award-Winning The Father is a searing exploration of love, family and the fragility of life. Jonathan Pryce is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning actor of stage and screen. His varied work includes lauded performances in film including Brazil, Glengarry Glen Ross, Carrington and Evita and on stage in a landmark international tour of The Merchant of Venice, Comedians for which he received a Tony Award and Miss Saigon in the West End and on Broadway. He most recently appeared as the High Sparrow in the hugely successful Game of Thrones. Dame Eileen Atkins is a three-time Olivier award-winning actress. She is known for her BAFTA and Emmy award-winning performance in Cranford, as well as roles in film including Gosford Park, The Hours and Robin Hood. Her many stage appearances include Honour, Retreat from Moscow and Ellen Terry. She can be seen most recently as Queen Mary in Netflix's The Crown. 'Complex and subtle... a beautiful new play.' - Le Figaro 'Highly sensitive and compassionate... Zeller reminds us that life is beautiful.' - Le Parisien By Florian Zeller Translated by Christopher Hampton Directed by Jonathan Kent Show running time: 90 minutes with no interval. Nice press release!

I see as well he is only doing six performances a week, which i guess is fair enough. Saw this in Chichester and thought it was v good but cant justify another trip down south with other stuff around.

I'm looking at the schedule for the Winter Olympics and I don’t seem to be able to find a tv schedule showing what will be showing when on the telly. I don’t have Eurosport - can I get it? So I’m dependent on the good ole BBC. They tend to edit too much for my liking. But can anyone direct me a timetable for the telly? Ta in advance. The new Radio Times has big supplement. Not sure if Eurosports has the Olympics anyway.

I thought he would have got a whole life sentence. As pointed life doesn’t mean life, but he has been sentenced to life, just not custodial. Problem with the justice system it is going like America, where to judge sounds tough with his/her sentences, except when it’s quiet and no one is looking, they release the prisoner who has served their bare minimum sentence. They have been caught out with this one. Very very few whole life sentences are given. Judges tend to rein back and give high minimum terms such as the 43 years given recently.
