I treated my folks to see this in Milton Keynes the other week and they loved it! I grew up listening to this as my Dad was/is a fan and over the years we've all come to appreciate it. Julian and Sandy are my faces too.

I saw it at Cineworld's Gloucester Quays and I really, really enjoyed it. McTeer was everything I expected and more and I was very pleasantly surprised with West - the boy done good! Elaine Cassidy was impressive too, her portrayal of emotion was tip top.

Did she stick her finger in her ear to get the hard notes, Sue? Yesss! Although she could've stuck all her fingers and toes in her ears and she still wouldn't have made that harmony with her sister. Sheesh, I gasped out loud when that happened. Bless her.

Ah, that's a shame she struggled - she looked very promising.
Maybe she had an off night when I saw her but Alexandra's harmonies were off and she struggled to hold her notes and remember to breathe whilst dancing! Her ballads were good, great in one song but for me, she was not fabulous.

Madalena Alberto is worth watching though. She was marvellous as Evita but this is completely different!

Melissa James as Nicki Marron had far more...everything...than Alexandra Burke. Acted better, sung better and danced better albeit in a much smaller role. She has that potential for divan that Burke didn't.

Oh lord, I feel for The West then, given all the posts about him and his lines! Fortunately I've never seen the film or any previous production so I'll be none the wiser unless he gives it away! Thanks muchly, Honoured Guest.

I suspect this question was asked on the old forum but can I ask - what date was the performance that's showing at cinemas on Thursday evening? I don't think for one minute that it'd actually be live.

I saw in one of the recent articles that the orchestra will be on stage a la Sweeney so probably puts paid to much in the way of a set. If that's the case I presume they will extend the stage over the orchestra pit and bring the action forward? Is that what they did for Sweeney? Oo that'd be fab if so - I saw WNO's Sweeney a while ago and loved the fact that the orchestra was so involved in the show. For once it gave them the recognition they deserve.

Ok, I'll go first then!
At The (bloody awful) Bodyguard in Bristol last week, 3 rows in front of me, rear stalls there was a group of women. One had a runny nose and persistent cough so she blew her nose LOUDLY and coughed LOUDLY, all the way through the show. Her friend/colleague/relative/whatever sitting next to her decided to fill the gaps of no nose blowing and coughing with opening pack after pack of rustling packaging and then proceeding to pass said packets to her left and to the right, along the line of friends, shaking the contents just for a little extra rustling.
Why don't people realise it's not a chuffing picnic in the chuffing park??? Arghhhhhhhh!!!

new Zealand? No theatre for me for a long time so will have to live it vicariously through you all I won't say "ooo have a fab time" in case I put my foot in it or something (which I have an unfortunate habit of doing) so I'll say "safe tourney catqc and be sure you log in and have a gander". And see you soon!
