Ashamed to admit I have nodded off twice during shows - once in front of a recent performance of Shakespeare by a peer of the realm. My husband once slept through an Eric Clapton concert. I'd prefer concert goers go to sleep rather than up and dance in front of me. Like the drunk t**t in front of me kept doing at Adele this week...as well as trying to make conversation with me...as well as slopping his beer over the woman in the row in front. }{€!~<€>~><$!}*<€}<*€<}$}~^}<*>~}$,! Grrrrrrr!

Tour-related query, specifically for Bristol on Wednesday matinee, 13 July - these could be good questions for those that 'do' social media as I'm clueless!
Who is Miss Adelaide, seems as Louise Dearman has deserted us?!
Will Richard Fleeshman, Anna O'Byrne and Maxwell Caulfield all be performing - if not, who will be?

The balcony is fine as long as you clap with one hand...and cling on for dear life with the other! But what's he going to use to wave at Glenn? His own turban, judging by his avatar! Hope he's not gonna try and out-turban La Close though. It'll only end in tears as she's a formidable woman and he's got turban lovers like Burly and me in the audience. The sausage rolls will fly!

"You must love me" performed by Madalena Alberto as Evita, last year. Wow, talk about throwing everything into it. Simply stunning.

I'm not talking full on wail and blub and stuff but...most shows I've seen have caused a stifled/silent brief sobby-type cry or at the very least an eye well-up and a lip wobble!
Sometimes all it takes is for the curtain to go up...but that's unusual, to my credit.

I'm all packed and ready to go! Have you had those fabulous sausage rolls from M&S yet instead of your usual Greggs? From the Handcrafted range, they're called Davidstow Cheddar and Dry-Cure Smoked Bacon Sausage rolls. They're very moreish, Burly!

Yep, agree with emcee and ninja about Louise, what a shame. Now I'm wondering who we will get! I'm happy that I'll be seeing Fleeshman but is Maxwell Caulfield just another Marti Pellow or...?

Ah no, catching it in Bristol - I have a...ahem...mature and occasionally incontinent dog to work around so can't venture too far away time-wise! I have found a podcast, which introduces the Barber so I'll have a listen to that as well as hunting down some good reading material too.
Missed my thanks to Steve too, for suggesting this one!

Pet Shop Boys at Funny Girl last night. In baseball caps and with their synths in tow? Blimey, they'd have to have bought at least 3 extra seats! x

I may book just to boo Patridge. I've heard horror stories of what a piece of work he is and his stint on BB proved it. Yuk. Yay, MrB! Now don't be such a party pooper, don't forget they're all paid handsomely to make good telly so maybe he's just earning his beans and he's not a total d***! x

Oh don't, Burly I'm a little bit apprehensive waiting to hear who'll be taking that slot! I booked this last August and knew I'd be taking a gamble without knowing the cast but I love love love the soundtrack and cast recording so couldn't resist. It'll be my first time...☺️ !

Wow, thanks to all for your advice and suggestions - I'm really chuffed and very grateful. I'm gonna check out those websites and no doubt come back with more thoughts, questions and queries if you'll all oblige me again?!
Funnily enough, I have a (small but growing) opera playlist on Spotify of arias (I think?) that include Tosca 'E lucevan le stelle' and 'Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore', Madame Butterfly 'Un bel di vedremo' and L'elisir d'amore 'Una furtiva lagrima...Eccola!' so it looks like I'm at a good starting point.
Are those all arias or...?
I'm really interested in knowing and learning more so I'm really pleased this opera section is very much alive and well!

I'm intrigued about opera but know diddly squat about it! Would anyone be interested in posting a beginner's guide? Would anyone else be interested in this?
I'd love to know lots of things, for example - what the operas are about (the story), what's a good one to see for starters, current popular performers, different genres, etiquette whilst at the opera and those unwritten rules, general styles adopted by each composer, etc, etc, etc but I dare say the list will only increase the more I/we learn!
