I was reading back through the posts I can't remember where but someone said about an audience member trying to give a card to an actor. I remember the very first theatre show I went to - Birdland - at the Royal Court. At the curtain call this woman who sat opersite me in the slip seats threw a bunch of roses at Andrew Scott. Because giving them in at stage door I guess is overrated. I'm suprised they all made it to the stage. I've never seen anything like that since.

The only recent mistake I've done was booking a show for the wrong day but only realised when I got home. But I can get them changed.
I have been in a situation at Young Vic. When I booked my tickets for Measure For Measure at their Box office they didn't print the tickets there. They gave me a recipt to pick them up on the day. But you couldn't pick your seat you paid to sit in an area. So the day of the performance I went to YV got my ticket checked the sit it was row C at the side. Going into the theatre went to sit in my seat and there were two ladies one sitting in my seat. The woman looked at me and started saying that she had the same seat. So the usher came over and looked briefly at her ticket and said because of the way the bookings are done sometimes seats are double booked. I went with the usher who consulted with another usher. Then went back into the theatre because they didn't know what to do. The two ladies still there saying they booked ages ago one asked to look at my ticket. Yes it was for the 7:30 show in that seat (I forget the number I think C5). Then she looked at hers again only to discover her ticket was for the 2:30 show earlier that again. She was really rather embarressed. She thought she booked for evening not the matinee. I have no clue if her & her friend saw the show. But it's the only situation like that I've been in.

Seen the new Jean Valjean twice (Simon Gleeson) it was err... different. He can sing but he doesn't always song bits that should or normally sung. He's rather an aggressive JVJ through out. His chemistry with Jemery Secomb is fantasic. Hes a lovely guy to meet though. But I'm not liking the performace in general. I still prefer him over Peter Lockyer. As I didn't like Peters voice.

with Peter leaving Les Mis could this mean he will take over as Phantom from Ben next spring? I thought the same thing. But I'm not much of a fan of Peter if he does it I'll go an see. I want to see a Luke who is a swing in the show but not while Ben is Phantom.

Losing track with Les Mis. Isn't the main cast change in June? I know a couple of principals on different contracts but seems to be most of them now. Do they change the souvenir brochure more than once a year? Its June thats were the main one. Last cast year June15 - June 16 I got 4 Different programs. The picture books will stay the same with the cast that started June 16.

Charlotte taking over as Cosette doesn't surprise me, nor does Paul Wilkins returning. Hollie, however, I wasn't really expecting. Had she been in the cast longer I could have seen it coming. I haven't seen Hollie, what is she like? Does her performance almost suggest that it was inevitable she would get the promotion? Shes alright I mean I wouldn't pegged her for lead just yet. Maybe in another 6 months where she had time to develope.

Gutted about Bayjey but it does mean I'll still get to see him in the show as cover. I haven't heard Simon Gleeson sing but please tell me he better than Peter.

Thanks for the review Ali. Just wondering if there is any news yet on the London cast change? I wonder if this cast will transfer into the West End? I was told at stage door that cast announcement is tomorrow. Peter Zoe Craig Eva & Rachelle are def all going but Jeremy is around into the new year. Anything else no clue. I'm still REALLY wishing hoping praying Adam Bayjou gets to take over as JVJ.

I didn't realise when I voted that basically it would end up as a nomination for that catagory. I'm GUTTED I didn't put Danny Whitehead 'Understudy' one he's a swing of 11 tracks in Les Mis but doesn't cover a main role unlike the other two swings. If I'd have known that I would have put him down. He is the only Les Mis male ensemble member not nominated. I put Oli Brenin & Vinny Coyle they are on the list. BUT then someone else could have done it but didn't so...

I thought it was sometime in December. Not sure when. December 3rd was suggested a few pages back, though there's been no official word as yet. Zoe & Craig have both said they are leaving the 3rd December. Others I don't know when but since they will have to rehearse new cast it would only make sense that everyone who is going would go then so new leads could all rehearse together. Thats my theory I also think they will announce tomorrow or Monday. Monday would be the start of four weeks before Dec 3rd which is the same time they announced casts for Feb & June cast change.

Everytime I've see Les Mis there has been someone getting there phone out. I stopped a guy (who sat next to me) taking photos of the show by saying loudly 'Do you mind?'. My first time I sat front row of stalls had an older guy sat next to me who hummed to all the songs but was compelled to sing along to 'Do You Hear the People Sing?' & 'One Day More'. The guy on the other side fell asleep & got up to leave right as Jeremy Secomb began 'Star'. 2 women sat behind me and chatted while someone on the 2nd row decided to crunch up a plastic water bottle. Everyone does that though don't they? I thought it was expected. Like when they sing "Will you join in our crusade?, Who will be strong and stand with me?" you're supposed to stand up, cry out "I'm with you Enjolras!" and wave a giant flag. Aren't you? Just me then? I had a flag when I went to the Les Mis vs Phantom football match. Quite happily screamed and sang along to bits of songs that were played - waved my flag. But paying 70 quid for a seat I want to hear the actors sing in a show. To be honest I can't stand people singing along at gigs either. One time paid 40 quid to see this band only to have my friend sing along to all the songs wildly out if tune.

I forgot one, at my first visit to Exposure the Musical which wasn't full Row C was packed but A & B wasn't. So 2 blokes & a woman sat next to me. The guy sitting right next to me as it starts, cheers. The first big dance number he continues to yelp(cheer). He does this several times commenting on what's happening to the two next to him. He also taking swigs of the drink he's got which you hear the ice rattling around. About 20 mins in to the show he drank his drink you just hear a crunch. He's decided to eat the ice. So every few minutes for a while you hear crunching. That is until he take a gulp of ice and starts coughing. Honestly I sat there and giggled. I'm not proud of it but yeah I did. Needless to say I took up residency in row B at the interval.

When I saw Urinetown I was in 2nd row right in front of a family. About 10 mins in the mother whipped out her knitting. Yep right in front of the actors.
At Phantom last Saturday my first ever visit the guy sitting next to me checked his phone every 6-10mins!!
A LOT of people just can't wait for the interval to chat - or worse give running commentry through the show.
My only trip to Titanic was ruined by two teenage girls chatting through most of the first half.

I'm still praying they make Bayjou JVJ. Jeremy isn't leaving yet. Although I guess Katy could. Helen Walsh has been Mme T on tour they could get her back.

Judging by Craig Mather's recent tweet re: number of performances left, I presume (if he has no holiday to take) that the current cast that are leaving will be playing there final performances 26th November. Now comes the tough time of do I book in advance now to avoid the scramble for affordable tickets, or wait and see if I like the new cast. You have a little more time than that actually- some are leaving at the start of December and at least one the week after them. I asked Craig he said his last show is 3rd Dec. Zoe is finishing that day as well & I assume Rachelle, Eva & Peter will all finish 3rd aswell.

The only JVJ I can recall ever being promoted to full-time was Sean Kingsley and that was a disaster. These big shows don't like bumping up understudies - generally, you have to leave and then come back. Doubt he'll get it. Anyone who knows Cam Mac's internal casting policy knows it's always "safety first". In the newest Miss Saigon making of DVD he says (paraphrased): "I'm not really one for changing things that don't need to be changed". That's why we see the same, trusted performers again and again and again and again in the biggest shows. I reckon someone experienced in the role will return. There qre hundreds of covers over the years who perhaps have "deserved" a run but they are told they are "too valuable" in the ensemble or other such nonsense and not given a break. Thats a real big shame the only reason I went back was to see Adam Bayjou as JVJ. Unless he's leaving as well :-(. I know it's not one of the big roles but last year they bumped up Bradley from ensemble to play Enjolras. I saw Adam back in November for the first time and each time since then he's got stronger and stronger.I have noticed he gets a lot if postive comments after he has his Valjean shows as well. Consider all the fuss CamMac company as made about social media use recently. I'm sure they are aware of what people post about the actors on it. Any way we will see come I guess November when they will announce the cast change.

December 3rd is the cast who are leaving last show. That's a shame! Do you know if Jeremy is staying? Would be gutted to miss him by a week... I don't know I have heard he's been asked at stage door about it and has said his contracts for the year. But I haven't myself asked.

Any idea who will take over from Peter? Will they make Adam Bayjou lead Valjean or will they bring in another Valjean? If they cast another Valjean I'd like to see Hans Peter Janssens return to the role. I saw him in a few other shows and he was very good. I reckon it will be Bayjou taking over as JVJ to be honest. They gave a few leads leaving in December. I reckon they will get back people in some cases to play the roles. I also reckon they could get back Edd Campbell Bird as Marius. Also one if my faves in the show Oli Brenin who is current 2nd cover JVJ had a chat with Zoe that was posted on the Les Mis twitter. He said about having his debut JVJ show and developing his voice for coving. During the video said quote ''The more I get on'' (not if or when) now concidering it was 3 months before he got a shot at playing Valjean and last cast year between Luke McCall & Bradley Jaden they only got 3 shows over 2 days. I would have thought Oli wouldn't get many more days as JVJ. Esp if they get someone new who most likey wouldn't take a holiday for a while and Adam rarely has his JVJ days off. Unless Oli knows he'll get to be on more and the only way will be if he knows he'll be 1st cover. Hense thats why I really believe now Adam will be bumbed up to lead.

If anyone hasn't seen the show for a while it's worth going now, especially on a Monday night!!!
Thanks for reconfirming that. After seeing Peter Lockyer twice I am eager for a different Valjean. Not that he isn't good but his Valjean left me cold both times I had the same thing with Peter. I saw the show for the very first time back last year November. Honestly I didn't feel for going back. But told to go back to see Adam as Valjean. Yep that was it. On Monday will be my 20th time seeing Adam as JVJ. Apparently Peter is leaving in December. He told someone at stage door his contract was only 6 months.

Does anyone know if its possible to hand something in at the stage door of Wicked (Apollo)? It's for one of the new cast but I'm at a show that day (Monday) as well so need to leave it & dash off. Should be no problem. Just make sure it has the person's name on it and ask the stage door keeper if you can leave it there for said person to pick up. Thank you

So sorry about that. I find it difficult to phrase and compose sentences properly. A lot of people say I write like I speak. Makes life difficult. carrie, it's not your sentence construction, it's more the content of some of these posts! I just don't get the idea of tweeting/following etc understudies at all...! I know it's done quite a bit, but to some of us oldies, it's just crazeeeeee! Ahh okay in my case I'm a fan of actors & performers. I always have been. In some cases actors who aren't well known don't have the publicity that bigger stars do. So a platform like twitter is vital. They might do a big show like Mis POTO Wicked etc get becoming fans. Then go into smaller, fringe or tour shows which in some cases don't get publicity & rely on fans to turn up not just family & friends. A good friend of mine is MT grad and she been doing tours for the last two years. Just prior she did a 2 week run of a play. Where I went twice first time was me about 10 other people in the audience. I posted every where for her. Aside a few odd people that turned up it was pretty much family / friends at the last show. Having her in twitter it was a link back her profile spotlight page. The same thing with many of the understudies if you follow them you're there endlessly trying search on the thing for them. Tweeting them some respond to answers some don't. I am just fans of actors.
