Miss Saigon I have seen Joreen on as Kim twice she was fab. I am holding out that one of the 4 shows I have left Vinny will be on as Chris. Vinny is on tonight - are you there? Shaq was also on as Javert last night, don't know if you went? Sadly no to both. I know that I'm not going to get to see Vinny as Chris (last night was last minute it wasn't planned) I have only 4 matinees in Birmingham to go to (I have to travel there by coach) I doubt although I hope one of them he is on. After than I can't get to any more shows 😭. Yeah I was going to try and get tickets but since the cast change its a nightmare to get last minute tickets either cheap or in a seat I can see the stage. I know though I will very likely see Shaq at some point anyway since he a 1stC. You never know he still could be on on Monday.

The only reason I went back to Les Mis to be honest was for Adam Bayjou as Valjean. Then I went back again and again. Raked up 42 times to date.
Its one of the only shows I go to see & I go see it for the covers now. The only shows recently have been shows that one of the former Mis cast are were/now in (RENT / Miss Saigon /Phantom OTO).
On that note my fave Understudies from Mis (I include for main parts & ensemble)
Adam Bayjou (Valjean) Oliver Brenin (Valjean / Foreman /swing) Vinny Coyle (Grantaire / Foreman / swing) Danny Whitehead (Swing) Tamsin Dowset (Mme Thenardier) Ryan O'Gorman (Grantaire / Thenardier) Will Jennings (Bamatabois) Sophie Reeves (Fantine) Antony Hansen (Valjean) Luke McCall (Enjolras) Lee Van Geleen (Javert / Bishop) John Lumsden (Marius) Jessamy Stoddart (Fantine) Lauren Soley (Eponine) Steffan Harri (Enjolras / Bamatabois) Samantha Thomas (Cosette / swing) Jo Loxton (Factory Girl / swing)
In addition to this I am looking forward to seeing some of the covers at this years cast. I have already seen Antony & John debut as Valjean & Marius. I am waiting for Danny as Enjolras & Bamatabois, Hugo as Bamatabois & Thenardier and Shaq as Javert.
I haven't seen many shows and the ones I have seen which had covers on were:
Phantom OTO and I went to see it twice when Luke was on as the Phantom. The second time Harriet was on as Christine she was fab.
RENT I saw covers 5 of the 6 shows. I actually loved Kevin Yates covering as Collins I also saw him cover Benny twice.
Miss Saigon I have seen Joreen on as Kim twice she was fab. I am holding out that one of the 4 shows I have left Vinny will be on as Chris.

if anything, the crews have sometimes shown "disrespect" to those waiting outside, by looking at us as if we were dirt. I have seen this happen. I have watched a crew talk & laugh at people waiting outside a show before.

Just ban it and put the seats on sale, on line, on the morning of the performance. That way everyone who can get to the perf has a chance to buy a ticket instead of the privileged few who can get to the theatre in the morning. If I could buy tickets with a credit or debitcard I would but I have neither. It's bad enough I can't go see shows where you can only book online or over a phone let alone having dayseats online only.

Some sort of emergency at the matinee today, all the cast out on the streets in their costumes (again). Anyone know what happened? we spoke to Oli it was a fire drill they knew it was happening so it made it very amusing to see them all in costume. Esp Steven & Jacqui who were in full Wedding Thenardier attire. Oli was the lucky one he wasn't on. He said they do it every 6 months.

Any more opinions on Karis Jack as Eponine who have seen the show recently? I have. I only ever saw her in Urinetown I liked her in that. Her voice suited the role. Les Mis not so much. I have seen the role done better by other people including the current 2nd Cover Lauren.

Have seen Red twice as Engineer and then saw CRM on the Thrusday. So the only two I had seen play the role. Red was fantastic. CRM not so much.
Red was actually around at least for the matinee because I met him. Don't know why he wasn't on. Although he asked if I was seeing it that day, I said yes, he said I'd see Chuck.

I go to Les Mis all the time and it's got to a point where there is always somehing that will annoy me. I know I have to get up to let people to their seats. Yesterday I had a bloke I said 'hold on a moment while I get up' but proceeded to climb over me then basically fell into the seats. I said to him I was getting up to let you pass. Well for the first Act nothing really happened. He clapped after songs. When the second act started he whipped out his phone. I'm like oh dear God! Got an usher to tell him to put it away. So for the whole second act he didn't bother clapping at all. All because the usher told him to put his phone away.

News on the Hayden Javert front... A mid year cast change *sigh* I don't mind the mid year cast change if it means Hadyn won't be sticking around! No disrespect to him, I'm sure he's a lovely chap but I just can't warm to his performance. Oh same here but I wonder if that could mean others coukd go. Saying that I wonder who they will get for Javert?

With all this talk about people sending gifts it occurs to me that it might be fun to send weird gifts anonymously to random people. Not weird in the sense of creepy, but incomprehensible: a neatly gift-wrapped light bulb, a windscreen wiper, or a mug containing a collection of USB leads. Something to make the world just a little bit stranger. Someone gave Adam Linstead rosemary

Last week I wasn't going to the show but I was around Queens to buy tickets. The Les Mis cast board said there was a cover one that day as it turned out he wasn't on. I'm there tweeting West End Covers and everything. This is not the first time its happened.

Adam Pearce is 33. I also know what he has been cast in over heard him say it to people at stage door before he left Les Mis.

I'm interested to reading the comments on this topic. I end up at stage doors after shows all the time. Although I have only been going to theatre for only a few years. I used do the equivalent going to see bands (bands I mean metal bands).

James McAvoy was like that he would only sign one/two things for dealers but would sign anything fans (although it was mostly programmes and tickets). He also knows how to organise the crowd. Didn't have any security with him at stage door. Although it was slightly awkard him telling the crowd to move to the side stay away from the door to let people leave. I'm thinking to myself 'Yeah but I want to ask the other actors to sign my programme too' Then me having to stand really awkwardly out of the crowd in the middle of the road.

The hot weather makes me feel ill so always like the cold. I remember Union Theatre last year it has no aircon no air going around I found it difficult to breathe and kept yawning.

NB would be intrigued to hear your thoughts Kim_Bahorel? I always find it difficult to express in writing how I feel. So its not a review of any sorts. Just a though my own personal taste thought. In terms of what you said Daniel about the leads I agree with you. I was maybe expecting more from Carley & Karis than what I saw and heard. Carley wasn't great on Monday she struggled to sing. Saturday compared to Monday was a better performance. Karis pretty much the same as Monday. Karis was all over the place. I have seen Fantine's & Eponine's I liked better (including covers). I liked Hyoie as Enjolras and the more he does it the better it will be but even on Monday it was his professional debut that was great. He will go far. I really am not looking forward to Hayden coming back to be honest. I never tire of watching Jeremy on stage. He is brilliant as Javert. I liked Steven and Jacqueline as the Thenardiers. They were quite a pair. I feel sorry for Jacqueline Monday she forgot her lines it was awkward. I really liked Killian as Valjean although when he was old Valjean ran moved a little too fast! I did notice him having slight pauses in conversation parts. All the times I have tried to avoid seeing the part Valjeans. Saying that Bayjou is my fave so if I have to sit through shows with other actors who are at present questionable I'm still going when Adam is Valjean! In terms of ensemble I'm not keen on James Bamatabois. I don't know if anyone saw Will Jennings cover last cast year. He is without a doubt my favourite. Same with Ciaran J as Montparnasse he isn't my favourite portrayal I have seen. I like Hugo as Grantaire I found out he is the 1st cover Bamatabois which will be interesting. It was a little odd to hear Prouvaire with a deep voice as I'm used to Prouvaires being Marius covers. Shaq is 1st cover Javert I am really seeing him as Javert. On the Monday Antony who is now Courfeyrac was off on paternity so new swing George was on. I don't know if it was nerves (I am hoping it was) was flat almost like he couldn't sing. On Monday one of the new ones John who is Joly was good he wasn't there on Saturday and had the other new swing on who aside over doing it a little found quite endering on stage. He is very young I am interested in seeing him cover other ensemble. I was intrigued by seeing Antony as Courfeyrac because I had got so used to Will last cast year. It was interesting take. Danny is one of my fave anyway who now is Combeferre so I will be that person nothing he does I won't like 😂. Lee I love as Brujon I knew I would. For the ensemble girls, until I can figure which one is which its a bit of a blur. I liked Anna the factory girl and the one that is on the track of what was Tamsins last year. Although they have moved around the tracks which is making more difficult. A couple over act a little too much. All in all it will take some getting used to. I don't have the knowledge of loads of actors playing roles as I only started attending shows with the 2015/16 cast. But enough now to have favourites in most of roles there are.

I saw Les Mis again yesterday it was a much better show than Monday (not just that people forgot their lines) as a whole. I am not too overwhelmed by some performances either acting or/and singing wise still though.

Did anyone else go see the first show on Monday with the new cast? a friend of mine did, and she was very positive about the newbies. I'm there Saturday afternoon this week. I was curious as to what others thought I know a few people who go to Les Mis a lot. Been through a few cast changes. A side the stuff that just went wrong & people forgetting lines. We talked she said it was one of worst opening nights she had seen. In my 77 times seeing the show it wasn't good it was all over the place. I am back on Saturday so I hope its got a bit better. There are really good new ones in the show and probably just a first show thing. It lacked chemistry esp the Amis but that will get better in time I hope.

It was Jeremy that did it. I was very lucky with him being there and David off as Thenardier. I saw Adam Pearce cover as Javert one last time and Adam Linstead was on as Thenardier. What did you think of Adam as Javert? I really wasn't impressed. Having only been around since Nov 15 I've only seen Jeremy Adam Lee and Hayden do it. Of all of them Hayden I liked the least. But I prefer Lee over Adam. Vocally I like Adam as Javert. He suits better covering Thenardier. I would go see Adam in shows he does in the future. I know what he is doing next but it hasn't been announced (didn't ask over heard at stage door) I would go to see him in it if I could get to it but I can't.

I understand that the cast of Les Miserables (and School of Rock) will be performing on ITV's Tonight At The London Palladium on Wednesday. As I think the show is actually recorded on Sunday, goodness knows which cast it will be, or what type of hungover performance they will give! It was Jeremy that did it. I was very lucky with him being there and David off as Thenardier. I saw Adam Pearce cover as Javert one last time and Adam Linstead was on as Thenardier.

The thing with fanning yourself at a theatre. It maybe uneffective for some people but for me sometimes vital. I get short of breathe & panic which can make me light headed when there is a combination of heat & lack of air movement. I often get it in theatre usually only in summer. I get it a lot on the tube but have to close my eyes and take deep breaths. I can't really do that at a show. I spend most of my time yawning through shows until I get out the place.

I can see it being a Made in Dagenham style of just making it download rsther than physical release. As they wouldn't sell as well phyiscally following the tour as they can't shift it at venues! I hope not I have no way of being able to pay for stuff online and I don't know anyone who would help me out either 😕.
