The arrangements sound different to the songs featured in the trailer, well the snippets you can here. Will be interesting to see how they differ to those we know.

This is from someone who was at the contest re our performance:
"Re nul points for U.K. it was a really mediocre song to get any points you have to be in the top ten of a country’s voting that’s the way it works and it wasn’t a top 10 song - it didn’t chart here so why would we expect anyone else to like it. Compare to Sam Ryder two years ago! In addition his staging was too much ( too gay) for the more conservative countries- it also didn’t make sense in regards to the song. I feel gutted for Olly because he embraced the whole thing but the song let him down and someone should have said hang on a minute regarding his staging- trouble with bbc team is they live in a bubble and believe they are the best and probably over think things- they need to look at other countries and how they take it much more seriously and really think of the complete package. The song the staging and the singing all need to be top drawer - see Sam Ryder two years ago"
On a separate issue ratings also fell this year: Eurovision BBC Ratings (average viewers) 2024: 7.6 million 2023: 9.9 million 2022: 8.9 million 2021: 7.4 million

Song wise it was the poorest contest for years. Switzerland wasn't my favourite but I'm not surprised it won. It was the favourite before the contest started when Croatia took over. Oh well that's it until 2025.

Anyone who has seen the semi finals may notice that the lack of jury votes this year has led to some of the really strong songs eg Belgium being eliminated at this stage. Also to note is the lack of live vocals in may of the performances. Backing tracks seem to have taken over and whereas the 6 allowed on stage as is still the case used to include backing vocalists this seems to have gone also as when you listed to some entries you can hear additional vocals when no one on stage is singing. Croatia is still the massive favourite although Israel has now jumped into 2nd favourite. eurovisionworld.com/odds/eurovision

If done right this will do very well. It helps that the soundtrack is so well known. It was the best selling album in 2018 in the UK so has a massive base on which to build. Audience members generally like knowing the songs and if it is a spectacle then it could do very well. It could be very expensive to mount though to come across as big as the film.

Was that Gemma Wardle as Steve Macs tinder date in last nights Corrie? Forgot to watch the credits. Yes it was, although I had to check as I don't know who Gemma Wardle is!

Switzerland have been favourites for a while while we are about 13th favourite so could indeed be on the left. Anything can happen on the night though.

What time does priority booking begin on Friday for the Gielgud run? Is it 10am or noon? It's noon.

Would anyone mind sharing or DM'ing me the presale link (if it's not unique)? I was sure I'd signed up but it doesn't look like I did. I sent you one, hope it works.

I remember seeing Jane in Jack and the Beanstalk in Birmingham in 2014. It was a great show and I am sure she will be fabulous at the Palladium.

Lyn played the role of Mrs Johnstone off and on from 1997 to 2021 and was also in Taboo amongst other things. This link to a video of one of the great songs of Taboo from the Albert Hall. Anyone who knows Blood Brothers will know Lyn was one of the best Mrs Johnstone's.

I enjoyed it when I saw it in Birmingham. you have to take it for what it is. The main criticism I had was that they tried to fit too many songs in so you ended up with medleys and a line or 2 of some songs when I would rather have heard more of fewer songs.

Have to admit the casting is dreadfully underwhelming. I thought we were going to get at least one big name from MT. I'm wondering what you class as a big name. Cassidy is pretty big and Lyn Paul I am sure will give a great performance. Don't know Julie.

The original Sunset Boulevard at the Adelphi was spectacular as was Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward.

For the first time the Big 5 and host country will perform their songs live in full in the semi finals. They are still automatically through to the final but at least will have the chance to perform it twice as the other finalist's do.

They still perform now as The Fizz with 3 of the original band. They have also recorded several albums withike Stock in recent years so still have a fan base.

Welcome Ash, I'm mainly a musicals fan. My favourites are Sunset Boulevard, Blood Brothers, Les Miserables amongst many others. Have lived all over England and when I lived in Essex I used to go to London every week on my day off.

K T was on radio 2 this morning. It appears the run at Bromley is a sort of workshop. No West End run has been agreed yet but that's what they are hoping for.

All I will say it's a tragedy if you don't see this. You'll be sorry in a heartbeat. In the here and now with the steps hits it's better the devil you know although that was the last thing on my mind.I'm sure it won't be better best forgotten and if it does transfer hopefully it will be in the summer of love when all the fans can stomp into the theatre where it will create a chain reaction of joy.It certainly won't be one for sorrow!

I must admit I'm shocked at how little tickets have sold right now lol. Most people will never have heard of Pippin , I must admit I thought the Palladium a bit ambitious for this. I've only seen it once at the Menier I think, but did really enjoy it.Hope the sales pick up.
