Re the above video!
The video for the song was filmed in London on Sunday 9th December and was directed by Graham Trott. Starting at 6am we shot scenes in Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Camden Market, Woburn Place and even on a vintage 1960’s London Routemaster bus ! Thanks to my dad for appearing as himself, The Salvation Army Band, The Westend Gospel Choir, Camden Market and everyone in the crew who made this happen!

Unfortunately blame rests on all sides. If people did what they were supposed to then the situation would not have been as bad. All governments have made mistakes and most are having to go back into lockdown, some more serious than us. This is an unprecedented situation and some decisions have been in retrospect been wrong. However is is always easy to look back and criticise. At least we were the 1st country to start a vaccination programme which will hopefully see an end to this awful situation. People will always see things in different ways. I guess we will see next year how this pans out with the economy and hospitality and the arts in particular. Hopefully they will recover, though not all businesses will survive I am sure.

It is an impossible situation whichever side you are on. All I want is for things to get back to normal in a safe a way as possible as soon as possible. The government rightly or wrongly sees their job to protect the population from this virus and protect the NHS. There have been many errors made by all sides in this pandemic, but the blame game doesn't really cut it now. I really hope that businesses survive until things can get back to a more normal level so we can actually go back to enjoying the nicer things in life again.

I am sure theatres have made great efforts with safety, but in my mind it is just not feasible at the moment with everything else that is going on. The fact that London has the highest rates and has done for some days now couldn't be ignored I guess. It must be really hard for those venues that have put shows on now to have to close. The fact is we don't really know where people catch covid exactly. As one who is complying with the rules, it is really difficult as we have been in Tier 3 for some time now. However there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I feel for everyone working in the arts right now. It's so unfair. It is so difficult , though not entirely unpredictable. For consistency London will have to be put on Tier 3 as it is now far higher in cases than most current Tier 3 areas. Although I comment theatres for making an effort to open, in the middle of a pandemic which still has some months to run, I don't see it as entirely sensible. Gathering indoors in large numbers was always going to be risky. Hospitality has already taken a hammering and will continue to do so. If you are living in a higher tier you are not supposed to be going to those lower tier venues anyway. It is a catch 22 really. Do you try and open and risk having to close or do you just stay closed and ride it out until it has settled down. With the Christmas period coming , lets hope everyone thinks about others and does not set us back with a huge rise in cases again. The only way to get things up and running quicker is for all of us to keep to the rules and get vaccinated when asked to!

I am sure we all have our memories of her over the years. She always seemed to care about people and had such a lovely nature about her. She really was a national treasure. RIP.

The reason cases have dropped so much in places like Liverpool, is by and large people did stick to the rules, plus they were in Tier 3 for a while. It seems obvious that where cases are now rising in some areas including London, either the current measures are not strong enough and or people are not sticking to the rules. It's tough I know as I have been living in Tier 3 for some time now, but we just have to stick it for a few more months and hopefully things will get back to a more normal way of life.

I prefer the Mother Superior. In the movie version. Lesley Garrett used to do an amazing version when it was at The Palladium with Connie Fisher.

Where does that leave those of us who cannot currently go to the theatre & are unlikely to be able to do so until widespread vaccination has taken place? If contributions to this board should be based on theatre interest then I won't be able to contribute anything meaningful for some time. I may be wrong but what I think Lynette was getting at is that although this is a discussion thread, we should be a little more supportive of others views. WE are on this thread due to our love of theatre and performing arts in general, hopefully this should mean we are supportive of each other and do not say things which would upset or deliberately antagonise others. I will not be going to the theatre either for some time. Partly due to being in Tier 3 admittedly! At this special time of year , this year above all others lets think what we say before we say it. Be kind to each other is no bad mantra to have .

I tried listening to The Boy In The Dress. It sounds like it was spat out by a simulator. This is maybe one of those shows that only makes sense when you see it. Almost always the actual show is far superior to the soundtrack. I really enjoyed the show last year in Stratford.

I think the costumes this year have been terrible and look like they have been done on the cheap. The outfits that they have put Tess and Claudia in have bene even worse. Still it gives some extra humour, goodness knows what they must think of them.

We have gone all out (well that's a slight exaggeration!) this year and have put some lights in our window. Last year we added a wreath to our displays on our door and this year we thought we had better ad another item. It's amazing though that this set of battery lights we have strung up had 6 different settings depending on how you wanted them to flicker etc! We have gone for the slightly more classy fade option where one colour fades out and is replaced by another. At only £3.50 they were a bargain!

I think in a so called civilised society we would hope that we would look out for each other. If nothing else good comes out of this year it has hopefully brought out acts of kindness and a greater understanding of the needs of others and how everyone benefits if we think of others and not just ourselves. The next 6 months may test our patience but this morning at least we have hope and an end in sight. At this special time of year we should try and be tolerant and understand the needs of others and their concerns. We have to realise we cannot always have everything we want now, especially at the moment. I would love to be able to see my parents , but out of concern for them I will leave it for now. would also love to be able to go out for a meal or to see a show. Frankly I can wait for another few months if that is what it takes. We are the first country to authorise a vaccine so hopefully things will speed up.

I would have thought the whole idea of having the 50% capacity was that it was evenly spread to get the most benefit out of the spacing! What do I know?!!

I guess from that they are looking where people live and if in tier 3 will take those people out first. This may apply to other shows such as Les Mis too as they seem to be saying you should not be going to theatre in tier 2 if you are in tier 3. This is what the regulations do say though.
