On his tour tonight. Tim Rice revealed Chess is going to Broadway next year!❤️ I wonder if this will be a fully staged production, or a concert production?

This woman's rise is on the up-and-up.
Ms Waddingham was on The One Show last night promoting her latest action film, The Fall Guy, based upon the 80's TV show about a stunt man, staring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
They also discussed her comments to a photographer outside the Royal Albert Hall, pre-Oliviers, her opening number Anything Goes and the song choice.
Seems she may have a solo CD coming out as well.
Good on her. May her success continue.

Interesting fact, in London there are a set of steps leading up to London Bridge called Nancy's Steps.
There was a plaque. Not too sure if this ever was replaced.

I just received notification that this lady is doing an 'Up close and personal' interview at the London Palladium.
I like to think that I have my ear pretty close to the ground but I've never even heard of this woman!
According to the notification I received Chrishell is coming to The London Palladium to tell her inspirational story for one-night-only!
Actor, Realtor, Host, Author and self-professed Goof, Chrishell Stause is best known for her role on the Netflix reality show Selling Sunset and previous television roles as ‘Amanda Dillon’ on All My Children and ‘Jordan Ridgeway’ on Days of Our Lives.
Join us for a fantastic evening hosted by hilarious presenter/host/singers Jack Remmington and Ash Holme – they will have a no-holds-barred chat through everything; from her time on one of the longest- running scripted television programs in the world, to her time with The Oppenheim Group, competing on Dancing With the Stars, discovering her sexuality, writing a memoir and everything in between!
Again, never heard of any of these people!

I have a lot of admiration for Peter Dinklage as an actor. I really do.
However I do find it interesting that Doctor Dillamond is a CGI'd character.
I wonder if, despite being CGI and a goat, as to whether you may still be able to 'see' Dinklage's features, like in Disney films where the actors features can be seen in the character.
The reason that I find it interesting is because (possibly I've gotten my wires crossed here) but I seem to recall John Chu stating that there's be no CGI, thus the hand planting of all of those tulips.

The cast finished skate school on Friday and are starting to rehearse the show next week. 2 months to go…! I'm assuming that as part of this training they're also shown the best and safest body position to take (if possible) when taking a fall to reduce serious cast injuries.

On reflection, I don't think this show's for me.
Somebody gave me a copy of the Broadway cast recording and I don't like it.
I also saw it at The Other Palace and I didn't enjoy it either.

I watched a interview last night on the BBC i-Player last night where Benny & Bjorn from ABBA were interviewed and this exact topic was brought up in a question to them.
Whilst they both acknowledged that it was happening and inevitable, as Benny correctly stated, who would be credited with actually writing the song?

Would anyone else be interested in seeing Charlie Stemp in NOT another old-timey musical? He's a sensational triple threat no doubt, but I'd love to see how he would get on in something more contemporary. I would indeed! He was, of course, incredible in Crazy For You. And, I'm sure he'll smash this role too. But, it would be nice to see how he fares in the more contemporary scores. Something like Jamie in The Last 5 Years.

How exciting! There was a massive- about the size of a wall- image for the show in The Princess Theatre when I turned up to purchase my tickets for Groundhog Day at the Box Office.
Listen to the accent! I sound nothing like that.

I think Johannes is a great casting choice for this.
My only 'concern' (and I'm using that work very loosely) is that, unless they've changed the show significantly, is lack of dance for Lola's character. In the opening number we get to see Lola strutting, more than dancing. Her back up do more dancing that she does!
But maybe that's the point? Johannes has established that he can dance and he doesn't have to prove anything but may he now wants to show off his other acting and singing skills?
That's a great poster design BTW!

I'm an optimist so I see the last gasp of this. The next generation (with a small minority of exceptions) wont care about colour/gender/sexual orientation. But, as I say, I'm an optimist. You know Nick I too am an optimist and I have read (or heard) a similar statement somewhere.

I have three very close friends in Sydney and based upon the strength of my recommendation of the score and from previous productions, one has already booked.
I am working on another friend to take my mother.

As referenced above, I am from Sydney, Australia.
The reason that I mention this because, not sure if you're aware or not- but the three Star Wars prequels were filmed there.
My Uncle is a sound recordist for movies and was doing the sound for all three films. Google him; Paul "Salty" Brincat.
Up till this point I had never requested to go on (any) set, and I never have since- but this was Star Wars! I wouldn't even call myself a fan. Not really. But, again, this was Star Wars!
Imagine a set with two circles- an inner and an outer. All the action was taking place in the inner circle and I was standing on the fringes of the outer circle, trying to be inconspicuous and out of the way.
George Lucas was to my left, a mere few feet away watching Natalie Portman finishing a scene.
Suddenly this man came up to from (seemingly nowhere) and said 'Good morning'. 'Good morning' I said back.
The guy again said 'Good morning' and again I said 'Good morning', thinking 'what's this guy's problem?' Then I realised that guy was a bearded Ewan MacGregor and the location where I was standing was directly in front of his portable changing wardrobe!
I mean I had to physically move aside in order for him to get in!
When he came out dressed in costume, he gave me a nod of acknowledgement and I tried to become even more inconspicuous and offered to help my uncle tying up cables and help him moving equipment from one studio to another.
Before the day was over I'd also seen Christopher Lee and had a great lunch of fish and chips.
BTW I didn't speak to either Natalie Portman or Christopher Lee; I just saw them.

I always find it best to turn up with a plan.
If you're after specific memorabilia, then hit that stall first, then go back and browse.
If you're after posters, I would also recommend that you turn with with a cardboard postal tube.

This was a very tight and slick production!
Vocally excellent. I don't quite know how Andy Karl keeps up his stamina.
Have seen the show tree times now (the original and return of the Old Vic productions and now the Melbourne production, the revolve is not missed and the shown is not any weaker without it.

In May last year Nell Campbell (aka Little Nell- Columbia from The Rocky Horror Picture Show) did a talk at the Trafalgar Studios on a Monday evening- a night when Jersey Boys wasn't playing.
At intermission I noticed that a few rows in front of me, sitting on the aisle was Tracey Ullman- I LOVE Tracey Ullman!
So I approached her and went all fan boy on her, professed my undying love for her
Me " I love you! You don't know me, but I love you!"
"Honestly, I'm not a nutter! Although right now I appreciate that I may actually sound like one but I'm not! Honest! I love you!"
Then I regaled her how I used to watch her TV series Tracey Takes On on late night tele in Australia.
Then she agree to take a photograph with me; damn, my eyes were closed!
Between Little Nell and Tracey Ullman, I was one of my best theatrical stagey nights of 2023!

Looks like somethings happening with this.
I just saw something on Twitter (X). Not too sure what it was, or if it was simply promoting the filmed version.
I guess time will tell.

Why tf give album access to Broadway audiences ahead of those of us who invested heavily in the London version? Also the marketing approach on Broadway may be very different from the West End. (I didn't see this production) but have been reliably informed that it was weeks into its run before any souvenir brochures or programmes were available to purchase. To be honest, the recordings should have been available to purchase at the theatre during the run. Releasing them after the show has ended is too late- the horse has bolted, so to speak. So from a marketing perspective they'll rectify what we go wrong here.

My celebrity encounter was with Elaine Paige.
I have no secret on this Board that I am from Australia; I am from Sydney, Australia.
For any performer, it's a great honour to perform at the Sydney Opera House. Bernadette Peters (who I also saw at that venue) claims it was a highlight of her career!
(At the time) about 1986 Tim Rice toured the album Chess. It was called Tim Rice and Friends and stared Elaine Paige and Tommy Korberg.
I would have been 16 and was with a school friend. At this time One Night in Bangkok and I Know Him So Well ha been hits on the radio.
From memory, Tommy Koberg (obviously) sang Anthem, Elaine Paige sang Nobody's Side. Together they also sung Mountain Duet and (unbelievably, in hindsight) Tim Rice sung One Night in Bangkok.
I also have a vivid memory of Tim Rice saying "you think I would have flown her all this way with getting her to sing it" - and Elaine Paige sang Memory, from Cats.
He also made a joke about he fact that he wished that he's written the lyrics to that song!
Flash forward many years, I am now happily living in London and Elaine Paige is starring in The Drowsy Chaperone.
As part of an organised event I meet her at an after show even and mentioned to her that I saw her in Sydney, Australia when she was touring Chess and Elaine Paige turned to me and said "I never toured Australia with Chess!"
#awkward! How do I respond to that? Call her a liar?
I was not starstruck! I was dumbfounded!

Anyone had any?
I mean they're human too and make mistakes, as we all do.
I guess what I'm asking is you've ever been in a situation where you accidently said, or done something in front of a celebrity; or they, in front of you?
