Have had a good titter at the comments but am looking forward to seeing it again tomorrow evening with an “Aspects virgin” friend

My favourite ever Mrs J was played by Joanna Munro, who understudied the part. She made a terrific Mrs Lyons, but her Mrs J was magnificent. I saw Joanna Monro as Mrs J the first time I saw the show, in London in the mid 90s, understudying Stephanie Lawrence. I remember enjoying her performance, but to be honest, I can't remember too much about it now. Stefan Dennis was Mickey. I think Helen Hobson is the best Mrs J I've seen (most of the others have been Nolan sisters), but I'm keen to see Linzi this year. Oh yes Helen Hobson...yes, she was wonderful. As indeed was the late, great, Stephanie Lawrence.

Still one of my favourite pieces of theatre, even having seen it scores of times with various cohorts of students over the years, plus several of its early incarnations.

I’m a big fan of Aspects: for me it is one of my favourite ALW musicals score-wise and I loved the original London run. And I enjoyed seeing the many changes it underwent..... turning “There is More to love” from lovely solo to a magnificent duet was by far my favourite change. Ravishing. But I get why future incarnations reverted it to a solo.
I look forward to seeing this on the final night of this run.

Adored Smash, esp. season 2. And I am not ashamed to admit that one of my morning alarms wakes me up with “Let me be your star”!
And I still tear up when I hear “second hand white baby grand”

Afternoon Tea is one of my favourite “treat meals”, love it and it always has a sense of occasion. The full works: good sandwiches, warm scones with loads of clotted cream and jam (cream first, then jam 😀), a few savoury mini treats, and a selection of cakes and pastries, And good tea to wash it all down.
Fabulous!

Dragged as a youngster in 1983 to see “some musical” called West Side Story at the Leicester Haymarket. Boy did I strop at the time about going to see a musical, but as soon as it started I was hooked. And seeing Steven Pacey who I liked from Blake’s 7 was a thrill. Oh now THERE’s a tv theme of note! And camp sci fi of the very highest order, courtesy mainly of Servalan!
Saw WSS several more times during that run. Amazing.
Oh I have such fond memories of the Leicester Haymarket : which became almost a second home to me for so many years after.

Oh my word this remains trashy on every level. But I keep getting strangely drawn back to the hammy naffness of it all. A guilty near-pleasure. I think!

Wow, Dr Who has finally delivered! This New Year’s Day episode was a triumph and a wonderfully fresh Dalek slant.. A real treat and thrill after the up and down nature of the recent series. Cracking story, delivered very well indeed.
Some genuinely funny moments, too, worked in fabulously: loved the random family coping with the implications of internet down. And the suspension of UNIT.
Loved it!

Just got back from a screening and adored it. Was never a massive fan of the original but this was right up my street: great set pieces (I found Light Fantastic breathtaking and I was loving every second of the finale). Emily Blunt: wow! Now she fits my idea of Mary Poppins. And so deliciously camp. And Meryl Streep in Norma Desmond drag was a sight to behold. A real joy.

The sheer awfulness of a mincemeat omelette to start with then doused in an entire packet of icing sugar turns my stomach, but as you say, it's a real guilty pleasure to watch, but please don't ask me to eat it (well unless you've cooked it Bo!) But what kind of mind would come up with the recipe in the first place?!
A very, very, VERY twisted one... which fits. Have you seen 'Fear of Fanny'? By all accounts she was a thoroughly unpleasant person.
Oh she was. Something of a monster comes to mind. But her tv downfall was epic. Yes Fear of Fanny was fab: Julia Davies in particular fine form

Oo now that takes me back.....I think I watched this episode as a young man thinking Ipswich seemed a nice place to visit. And there are some nifty 80s fringes going on.

I love a bit of Fanny and this is a really guilty pleasure: one of my camp must-watches each Christmas is her festive series from the 70s. I loved it as a boy and love the sheer campness of it now. Hilariously ghastly but compelling. And oh the finger clicking at 2:44!
Throughout the series, it is hilarious how her assistant Sarah has to get dowdier the more “glam”(!) Fanny’s attire is.
But oh boy, this omelette is something else: thank heavens for icing sugar!

Fingers crossed for the oh-so-enticing musical based on Katie Price’s life, written by her and starring her. On ice.
Boasting an Act One finale recreating “”A Whole New World”, the legendary Royal Variety Performance duet with Peter Andre, being reprised again at the end of Act 5 as part of a mega mix, this has hit all over it...well, it sounds like hit to me and must surely be Ealing Broadway bound. Oh I have the most unnatural of frissons running through me at the thought 😀

Some great stuff. I keep hoping that one day the more recent production of Half a Sixpence would be broadcast. At least, I think it was filmed at the time.

Oh Weekend - yikes I remember vividly. And parents were also partial to buying boxes of Terry’s Carousel chocolates: flirting with what passed for sophistication in Leicester back in the day! But Roses were my fave.
And don’t get me started on “Eat me” dates: I recall making what turned out to be the most horrid gift for my gran by soaking them in advocaat and then dipping in melted chocolate. Well, I liked the idea at the time and thought these would be THE poshest chocolates ever - but these were my very early days of food experimentation as a kid. #shudders

Barely started buying pressies (disturbingly, hubby got all his bought and wrapped last month!). But have done most of the food stuff: have freezers full of sausage rolls, mince pies and various other nibblage and the like. Cooking while listening to many cast recordings at high volume, sans shame! And occasionally with a large g & t in hand!
And just finished a 5th Christmas cake (not for me I hasten to add: just not a fan of fruit cake) but for family and friends.
Now to watch the sublime Angela Lansbury in Mrs. Santa Claus - one of my many festive treats!

I am such a Dr Who fan (the classic series and the re-boot) and I enjoyed this series, but it never once fully gripped me or made me that excited for the next episode, something I often felt in the past (even when there were dodgy stories and dubious writing in previous series). But I love Jodie Whittaker's Doctor massively.
Most of the "villains" were pretty lacklustre and an "oh is that it?" about them, and while I don't want rehashes of the classic villains ad nauseam, I would love to see the occasional return. Or new monsters and villains that really deliver on the menace and evil stakes!
There were some terrific stories - for me, "Rosa" and "Demons of the Punjab" stood out. And "It Takes You Away" had the potential to be stunning - but I still find that frog ending beyond daft - had frog then performed a duet of "Don't Stop Me now" with Sharon D Clarke, I might have forgiven things!
While the companions were good enough, and well acted (love Bradley Walsh and his character - he, for me, is the standout companion), having 3 of them stopped me from really caring that much about them.
I like stand-alone episodes generally, but at times I felt I was watching partly out of duty. I want to have something of a full story arc (or even several sub-arcs!) running through a series to add depth to proceedings - without it getting all too bogged down. How I miss the reveals from earlier series since the re-boot that then make me go back to earlier episodes to look at the clues that were there all along! And I, too, miss having the occasional cliffhanger.

oh my word. I love the soundtrack: there is something so evocative but also fresh about it - and it only took me to track 3 ("a Conversation") to ever so slightly well up - beautifully simple and potent!
I adore the big numbers, and while I was not initially taken with "Turning Turtle", I cannot get that fabulous tune out of my head: those orchestrations.. wow!
I cannot wait to see this in the cinema.

Oh this was magnificent. Despite the issues with elements of the musical itself, I loved it. And what a sublime cast. Fortunately the sound was excellent in our cinema for once - it is usually a gamble: Follies was practically inaudible.
And as I said to my hubby, we also need to keep going to theatre screenings at the cinema as we are practically the youngest. We might even pass for twinks if the light is right.😀

Still adore Corrie, warts and all. When it gets it right with the writing, it is spot on: and so many times I have generally laughed out loud with the odd quip - and a show with a high coefficient of lollification is not to be sniffed at.
Even when the storylines are pretty preposterous, there is much heart in the show, and some truly fab characters: But Dev....no, after all these years his scenes are almost Acorn Antiquey (and not in a good way!). And yikes, Jude - as warmly soothing on the eye as the actor is (shallow? un peu - just don't get me started on trainee Doctor Hotsy!) - that never-ending story line and the "acting choices" just leave me flaccid with perpetual disappointment.

I am SO excited for this: has become one of my favourites: that ravishing score...oh yes! Was far and away the theatre highlight of a NY trip years ago: literally booked it as a “I wonder what this will be like” moment, only to have that performance broadcast. A stunning musical.

If you hadn't already, you will have by the time Céline has finished with it:
That was...interesting...undersung the big notes and created some new ones of her own...interesting! What a racket! Oh. My. Word. Yikes. My jaw has never been so dropped. And I am normally a Celinophile. Bring on that iceberg quickly. But curiously I did find myself laughing quite uncontrollably during that: trauma has unpredictable ways of manifesting itself.
