The Salzburg La GIOCONDA is a shared ROH production...tho it may not be in the 2024-25 season...but a future one. Pappano is the conductor with Netrebko and Kaufmann.

Is there any chance (with winning any Olivier awards) that Guys & Dolls will extend past August 31st...or is the closing already set in stone?

According to the Bridge Theatre website...Guys & Dolls will be closing on August 31, 2024. I am coming to London in mid September 2024. Is there any chance that they will extend the show? Thanks for any help.

Just watched the August 4th webcast here in NYC!!! Just FABULOUS!! Congrats to CFT and the entire cast for a wonderful show!! Sure hope that they make an audio recording of the show. Julian Ovenden was just superb as Emile deBecque..as was Gina Beck/Joanna Ampil/Rob Houchen. It certainly helped to brighten my day after watching this production. Highly recommended!!

"A Little Night Music" from the NT with Dame Judi Dench. I saw the production twice when we were in London...and it was one of the finest...and the CD brings back many happy memories.

CAROUSEL is my first choice too. It was the first professional musical I did (I was Enoch Snow Jr)...so it remains dear to my heart. Hopefully when this pandemic subsides....they are doing a new production of Carousel in Regents' Park this summer and Chichester has programmed South Pacific with Julian Ovenden. Wish we were as lucky here in NYC>

Just watched the video of CANDIDE. Really first-rate...especially the Cunegonde of Ms Hall. All her high notes were spot on..and then to have to sing an "encore" at the end with another high D!! Loved Rosemary Ashe too. Highly recommended!!

I mean this is a questionable response... And surely the obvious choice for Bobbie is Sutton Foster? I would DIE if Sutton was cast as Bobbie. Sutton Foster has been cast as Marian the Librarian in the upcoming Hugh Jackman revival of "The Music Man"...so that lets her out of the running.

Ms Friedman also did her cabaret show here in NYC in November 2017 at 54 Below...after directing "Merrily" in Boston. She would be a superb Sally.

I saw it last night via NT Live and adored it. The 4 principals were simply outstanding as was Tracie Bennett. They conveyed every emotion of their characters beautifully - the yearning, ecstacy, abandonment, the searing pain of a life lived regretfully, the 'making do'. Fabulous. No subtitles but occasionally the orchestration overpowered the vocals. It didn't detract too much. I was rapt. We saw it "LIVE" here in New York at Kew Gardens Cinema at 2pm in the afternoon. It was a PACKED house and the production was sensational. We had no issues with sound or picture. It was beautifully staged and sung. Congrats to all the cast , crew, orchestra, camera work...it was GREAT!!

It is TOTALLY bizarre that Ali Hakim was played by ... huh? .... Marcus Brigstocke! How did the R&H estate allow that?? But then again in the Donmar COMMITTEE musical, Camila B., who is Anglo-Iranian and a real person (unlike Ali Hakim, in case anyone wonders why the distinction: i.e. we're not talking a fictional construct here) was played (very well) by Sandra Marvin, who is black. At this rate, I can't wait to see who plays Tina Turner on the West End next year .... Sorry..but you have totally missed the point of Ali Hakim. He is a Jewish peddler...pretending to pass himself off as something "exotic" (a.k.a. Persian)..but he is no more Persian than Will Parker. He is ALWAYS played like this in every production I've seen and done. R& H cast Eddie Albert in the movie version...so I think they knew what they were doing.

Now I know how Wallflowers feel at a dance. Actually, I already knew but this is bringing it all back. Still no answer to tweet or email but there are 8 hours difference between here and London so hopefully (my) tomorrow morning an email will be waiting for me. I'm here in NYC...and took the advice of the UK board members and sent an email to SFP...and about 2 hours later...my email with the link came thru and I was able to book at 15 pound seat for the June 29 matinee...the night after seeing OTELLO at ROH. Thanks to all who suggested sending an email to Ms Friedman.

It's in the final moment of CAROUSEL....the chorus is singing "You'll Never Walk Alone"...and Billy kneels beside Julie and says: "I loved you Julie...know that I loved you"...Julie looks up..smiles and begins to sing....and I barely see the last minute of the show.
