Just had a great theatre week. Operation Mincemeat on Tuesday and Crazy for You on Friday. 2 of the best shows I have seen this year. I'd give this 6 stars if I could with the extra star for coming home with a smile on my face. I didn't get a chance to see this at Chichester but the show looks as if it was made for this theatre. Loved the sets, costumes, lighting and so nice to hear a big orchestra playing those amazing Gershwin songs, one after the other, it was pure heaven. Great cast but this is Charlie Stemp's show. It could have been written just for him. You just can't keep your eyes off him when he is on stage (which is most of the time). I have always been a fan of his but this is, by far, his best role to date. The dancing was insane and such a great comedy actor and lovable character. How he is going to do 8 shows a week is beyond me. Carly Anderson was perfect as Polly Baker and I loved Tom Edden and Bela Zangler. The slapstick routine between Charlie and Tom in act 2 was comic genius. The big dance numbers were fantastic and performed by an amazing ensemble. I was sat in row E of the stalls which is actually the 3rd row as A and B have been taken away. Perfect view from there. Stage did seem very high so not sure how much you would miss in the front row. The other great thing about sitting in the front stalls is that they are on the revolve (not used in this show) but as its not a solid floor then when they are tap dancing your seat bounces up and down a bit in time to the music. I loved it. This is a show I will be making repeat visits too and its the most feelgood show I have seen since 42nd Street.

Living in London I had no idea about hotel prices but was talking to a couple from Manchester whilst on holiday the other day and they told me they regularly come to London on visits and usually stay at the Premier Inn at King's Cross. They told me they usually pay between £180 and £200 a night there. I was shocked as I thought it was abput £70 a night. Had no idea how expensive the cheaper hotels were.

Sad for all concerned. Glad I saw it a few weeks ago.

I also wonder if the threat of rail strikes puts people off from booking in advance.

Just looking at random dates and it's not selling well at all. Even the first preview (which I'm going to) has swathes of empty seats.

And Matthew Seadon-Young has been excellent in anything I've seen him in.

Finally got to see it this afternoon. Not much to add to what's already been said. Absolutely loved it. Very funny and clever with some great songs. Loved all the different music styles. Think I saw all the main cast who were brilliant. Full Standing ovation at the end which you don't often see at a matinee. I think you had Holly on instead of Tash as Montagu Thanks. Must say their bio pics are not brilliant so hard to tell.

Is it just me or are prices insanely high for this? Over 200 quid (inc booking fee) for centre stalls?! Centre stalls are classed as premium in most theatres these days and that's average for those seats. Further back or to the side should bring your cost down.

Interesting. I was expecting Sam Tutty. Why hasn't he been snapped up for something. He has such a lovely voice and so sweet.

He also directed Miss Atomic Bomb at St James Theatre. I loved that musical as it was totally bonkers and Simon Lipkin had a brilliant comedy role in it.

looking at the reviews for this, the MCF are sadly channelling Paradise Found. I haven't seen Third Man but I struggle to see the logic in programming it at this time. Couldn't we have had a crowd pleaser? Hello Dolly, Pal Joey and Witches of Eastwick are all crying out to be staged. They wouldn't be able to get the rights for Hello Dolly as it is pencilled in for next year with Imelda Staunton after she has finished filming The Crown. It unfortunately got cancelled due to covid.

Very pleased it's a traditional cast although I'm not familiar with the two leads. I shall definately be booking.

Good luck to those trying to attend - I see there is a Heat Advisory. And, now, it is the King's Birthday parade the same day? I will anxiously await the uploads to YouTube and Twitter/Instagram We call it Trooping The Colour which sounds even odder than Kings Birthday Parade.

Can Denise Welsh do other accents apart from her natural geordie? If not its going to be interesting. Not a fan of the venue as its far to big for this type of thing. Even if it's discounted I'm not going to bother with this.

They're Playing Our Song — after my Bond concert last night I felt like a bit of Marvin Hamlisch. Gemma Craven sounds fab, but nothing like she does in The Slipper and The Rose! I had to check it was the same Gemma Craven. I remember seeing this at the Menier years ago with Connie Fisher (after her role as Maria in Sound of Music). Apart from the title song, which I knew anyway, I can't remember any of the songs. Maybe time to revisit the recording.

I had a listen this afternoon to the music. Couple of decent songs but not enough to convince me to go an see it. Whereas listening to Shucked I know I'm going to enjoy it.

Ive got a couple of tickets for the first performance in the dress circle. I also too the "Sunset Package" which seemed amazing value for money. It was £25 for the package which included 2 cocktails, ice cream, nibbles and a programme". Thanks so much for posting about this. I hastily skipped the 'add package' screen earlier, so didn't scroll through the list and see it. I've just contacted ATG and have been able to add it to my order. It does feel like really good value, especially from ATG! I know. I reread the description a couple of times thinking it was per person but it's not. Even my e ticket confirms it. Bargain of the year.

I really enjoyed it. Watched it all over 2 nights which I seldom do with TV series.

Longer wait than I expected based on the small number of people in front of me.

I'd say about £150-£160 for premium prices Isn't that the same amount as the Close version which was what 7 years ago? I don't remember but that version had a big orchestra, cast and a proper star and this will probably be 3 singers and a tin Whistle if its usual Jamie Lloyd fodder.

Any idea of pricing on this, I feel like a giggle? I’m thinking £200 top price regular with hospitality on top? I can't see it being that much. I'd say about £150-£160 for premium prices with stalls and dress circle about £80 and maybe a few upper circle seats at the back or restricted view for about £35. Let's see how wrong I am!

Usually they send the link out around an hour or so before the sale goes live. Or 15 minutes after 10am to put you in a panic, which is usually what happens with me.

Wiltons is a much bigger venue than Union so will bring in a lot more revenue and on Saturday afternoon it was nearly full so I'm sure the cast are being paid. Although not everyone may have paid for those tickets. When I booked several months ago I didn't have a lot of choice seat wise so I don't believe the performance was ..... (misses out the banned word).
