I’d heard a rumour a few weeks back about Diana involving the Eventim and I kinda brushed it off as being a bit ridiculous.
Now this….

Likely a concert I imagine! They will hopefully get a fun cast in, I totally want to go see (loved it on Broadway!)

I so need a west end transfer tho. I need to get tickets for the concert fast. I love the cast recording for this x

If this isn't a concert than it's going to die a death. The Netflix proshot does remain one of the worst things I've seen so this is a hard pass.

Surely after the coverage of the Netflix recording this has to be played as a comedy?

OMG.
I am just saying, this is so underrated. Some of the songs are genuinely wonderful (Underestimated, Pretty Pretty Girl, The Main Event, If!)

Another fan - always love an under appreciated camp flop musical.
Please let this be true!
(Seriously though the CD has some great songs - I still listen to it regularly)

I saw the show right before Covid shut it down and had a blast. It’s not a “great” show but it’s a total throwback to the British rock musicals of the 80s which I haven’t seen anyone do in years. Walking out, I said to my friend “People are gonna HAAAAATE this show”. Although I know why it was filmed that way, the Netflix recording doesn’t really capture it well without the audience reaction.
All that to say, I hope this is true.
And here’s a cut number from the show -

How do you get Diana from that clip?
I'm a huge fan of the show and love the score. Not having an audience for the Netflix recording was a really bad idea and surely contributed to it's demise. Without any audience reactions, the whole show came across as rather earnest and serious, very differently to how it did live.
If there is anything to do with Diana - Please let it not happen at the Hammersmith Apollo. An awful venue.

How do you get Diana from that clip? It's a Princess Diana quote. There's been more posted this week.

Important to remember it was filmed without an audience because they did it during the height of the pandemic before vaccines. The cast and crew were all quarantined in a hotel and went only from the hotel to the theater and nowhere else during the filming.
It’s incredible it happened at all but yes, lack of an audience doesn’t help it stand the test of time.

I knew why it was recorded without an audience, but they should have waited. I have no doubt that people would still rip it to pieces even with an audience, but it would have given the Broadway production a slightly better chance, without having it all on Netflix beforehand. I guess Netflix paid them a nice sum to do it, maybe that helped stem the losses made on the show.
I can't find it now, but on twitter someone had posted about them being the MD on Diana, for its West End transfer. They posted that on April 1st, but todays update was that it has somehow come true and will be the MD for this.
I would love to have Jeena and Roe repeat Charles and Diana here. If only to hear him sing 'And just like that......' A line i can't get out of my head.

I’d love to see Jeanna again. Not sure when her contract is up at “Sweeney Todd”.

I have only heard Diana and The Queen casting rumours, apparently Diana will be shared by a younger and older Diana And The Queen….a pretty loose woman

Was ready with my credit card this morning to book....
Will pass. Not inspired by this casting, a "new concert" version... No, not if you're charging £70/£90 for seats you can actually see anything.

The casting choice for Young Diana makes it even more ridiculous. I can't wait! Loved the sheer audacity of the Broadway version.

Agreed! £90 for a decent view- hard pass from me. These prices are getting slightly out of control. Give me a £25 version at Southwark playhouse with an unknown cast and then we're talking! I sat halfway back in the circle at Hammersmith for Nativity and everything was just a blur - you're too far away. Not good for musicals. And at the heart of it, Diana is an intimate show.
