Was at the first preview last night. Never seen a production before but have 2 recordings. Boy, is it bonkers!! Much more bonkers than either of the recordings suggest. I think I'm still processing it but here are a few thoughts. The cast was really impressive and they sure do work hard. RK and RC are as good as ever but Nick Holder, Haydn Gwynne and Peter De Jersey at least match them. I usually love Sharon Small but she seemed underpowered (first preview though). Lots of amusing breaking of 4th wall. It is a glorious spectacle and uses the Olivier space well. Three hours including interval but I reckon they will tighten up and lose at least 10 minutes.

I am afraid you cannot have Putney County Spelling Bee, as we all know Londdon doesn't have any Counties and has a Mayor, if you said Putney Mayor Spelling Bee, I would have allowed that one to slip. Can someone confirm if the Beautiful Game is partly set in London, I thought it was entirely set in Belfast? ***58 so far*** The Woking and I?

Anyone in last night with a report as to how GC was? She has a 2 show day today. I have booked to see the show again tonight after seeing Glenn in her first week. I'm going tomorrow so I'm very interested in hearing your thoughts from tonight. I'm there tomorrow too, from the balcony!

Despite the request for understanding, GC gave a breathtaking performance tonight. Absolutely bonkers but not in any way cartoonish. Hope Michael X doesn't come down with her flu, as she does kiss him more than once. And he kisses Betty. Who kisses Artie... The whole cast could be laid up by Thursday, when we see it for the last time from the back of the balcony!

Gosh, this is expensive. Stalls: £55 front row (will miss footwork at times), £65 behind that, £115 premiums behind that, £90 premiums centre stalls, back to £65, then £55, then £45 back couple of rows. Dress Circle: £35 front row/s near safety rails (may restrict view), £65 and £115 & £90 premiums otherwise, 2nd dress circle block has £26 around the safety rails (again may restrict view), then £55 and £45 behind that. £17.50 very back row of dress circle. And no performances sold out! Booked front row Dress Circle at £35. The safety rail is not a big issue, if I remember correctly.

There now, and I was at today's matinee, loved every minute of the 2 hours 40 run time and thought it was altogether tremendous. What's more, though the house wasn't full, the audience seemed equally enthusiastic and many members gave a standing ovation. Plus my aisle seat in the stalls was a steal at £19.50. So compared to Parsley, maybe I am undiscriminating or too easily pleased or lacking in critical faculties - or maybe it's simply a matter of (lack of?) taste - but either way, even if I am a thoroughgoing Philistine, I had the good time I hoped for and would wholeheartedly recommend the show. Ditto. The show has a huge heart and charm in spades. Expect the (surely) excellent reviews will boost ticket sales.

I've decided to watch tonight's show. For those of you wondering both versions of mugs and prints are on sale tonight. Are there signed prints? I was told last night that they had sold out!!!

Huge stage door scrum last night - crowd was so big that it was blocking St Martins Lane. I only saw it leaving Sunset Boulevard, but looks like it might be challenging to manage. Stage door for this is ridiculous. I passed it on my way out of Sunset Boulevard and I would be very worried about someone suffering a serious injury. Those of us trying to get by had to walk in the road, there were cars parked at the side of the road and traffic trying to get through. Factor in a few baffled people randomly stopping to crane their necks to see what all the fuss is about, and it's an accident waiting to happen. So if you're leaving the Coliseum to walk back to Leicester Square, definitely stay on the ENO side of the road to be safe! Good advice. Last night the crowd was heaving and chaotic. They have tried to help by parking a car to restrict the mob from all sides.

No no, it wasn't Patti at Sunset, it was her sister Oatti. Guess who has just taught himself how to edit a post? Patti was in NY. As was her understudy, Oatti! Off topic. Anyone know why iPhone autocorrects Patti to Oatti which isn't even a real word???

My daughter bought the last signed print tonight. All gone. Think they seriously underpriced them, as they're only half way through the run. Also ran out of mugs after their delivery yesterday!. ENO are missing out on a fortune here! Stalls D1-2 a great deal at the price. At the interval I asked the house manager to have someone keep an eye on the row behind as there had been some commotion. Moved us to Box D. Now that was the perfect seat. Wonderful customer service. He also spoke to the noisy folks asking them to be respectful! Box 5 would have been even better... Oops, wrong show! (Glad to hear Stalls D2 is ok; that's where I'll be in a couple if weeks.) D1 is end of row so way access. Misses VERY little except some running up and down the stairs near Joe's bedroom. D2 misses even less. Good legroom in both.

The entire cast were on top form tonight too. Apparently Oatti Lupone was in the audience too? According to a staff member. This sounds hard to believe given her history. My thoughts exactly but he was insistent!!

Finally saw this Saturday afternoon. Beautifully, beautifully directed - loved the "Perfect Year" and montage staging. Thanks to whoever suggested the limited edition print, too. Exquisite souvenir. I got 76 / 100, so my guess is they must sell about 5 per show. C29 stalls. You miss only a bit of the Desmond balcony, but at the end, if she stands in the wrong place, a couple of lines come from behind a pillar. Still, great value seat. Let's not talk it down before the reviews. I'm sure they will give it a boost. As will word of mouth.

Did they stock the mugs yet? When I went they had it listed but it wasn't delivered to the theatre yet. I'm gutted they weren't selling t-shirts. I went all merchandise nuts on this one, and I almost never do. I asked on Friday and they will have mugs tomorrow. Hope they don't sell out before Wednesday!!

Elaine Paige played Claire Burt singing one of the songs last Sunday. Really liked it. I have booked to see this on 1st June. Anyone else booked?

After seeing this last week I had a very strange dream. It involved ALW putting on a semi-staged Evita at the ENO starring... MADONNA! Bizarre, as the dream focused on my being unable to connect to the ENO website. Not even sure I'd want to see it. O.M.G Did I say dream? Maybe nightmare would have been more appropriate? I just hope I can keep that image out of my head when I see SB again on Wenesday!!

I wonder if Ria Jones will be on any of the upcoming shows. I would love to see her take. As much as I love Ria, I fear you may be a lone voice in the ENO, if this happens! I predict a riot. ?

I've stalked this thread from the beginning. Through the early excitement, the doubts about her singing, the early great reviews on here, a few dissenters and then the amazing reviews. I saw it tonight from the back of the upper circle. Nothing prepared me to be as amazed and thrilled as I was. Everything about it is spot on. GC's "weaker" singing seems to fit the action perfectly. When she needs to stun, she sets it to 11!! I had already booked a further visit from side stalls next week. I've broken the bank and booked a further visit, frontrow centre stalls for the following week. Events like this come along so rarely. I'm making the most of it, while I can.
