Having watched their exit interview on It Takes Two, I can't disagree! Giovanni's answers were quite uncomfortable to watch. There was none of the " I'll miss spending the days with you" stuff and he analysed their performance as " quite good"!

I wonder if Kai and Nadiya are still a couple- either way, that's a tough first dance off for them!

For anyone whose seen this on previous tour stops, is superfan Wendy played as a character from whatever city you’re in? Also is Jay turning up for every performance? "Wendy from Manchester" appeared in York. I was told Jay had been watching most performances but he didn't go on stage when I was there. I agree with much of Burly Bear's view .It was just so intriguing seeing people screaming at Donny, knowing it wasn't Donny. Very much the willing suspension of disbelief. We had a hysterical crier near us too, especially when Puppy love reached the Help me section. But hey, clearly a lot of enjoyment was had!

Also - is it Rob How-chen or Who-chen? Been bugging for me ages that I don’t know! It's How-chen. I was never sure either, but he posted a while ago about Alexa not finding his music on Spotify if he said his name correctly.

I can remember having an ice cream cone and all the ladybirds sticking to it...so far as the heat goes, I'm kidding myself that once we get past Too Hot, the numbers cease to matter.

Maybe it's always like this at Jerusalem but tonight's stalls included Hannah Waddingham, Jason Sudeikis, Daniel Mays and Will Gompertz.

Reporting myself for a near miss. Just into the second half of a play I suddenly remembered my work phone was in my bag..switched on. There's no reason it should ring at 9pm but I spent the next 40 minutes suppressing the urge to search through my bag to turn it off. And praying no one dialled the number by mistake.

I saw the late Shirley Williams at the Donmar once and local politicians tend to go to fund raising shows in the constituences. I saw Michael Fabricant at a show in Lichfield Cathedral once too. I saw Neil and Glenys Kinnock with Michael Cashman at Peter and Alice most of a decade ago.

ATG issued credit vouchers with an email saying previous bookers would be first to hear when new dates were found, then repeated that message and extended the vouchers to the end of 2022. They said that they could also be used for other ATG shows. So I guess they haven't properly admitted that it isn't happening, but even then they'll probably just say Why not book something else.

They’re going to need some sort of name because the general public won’t know who the other leads are, I would suggest. You would hope that the title is the star. Perhaps Sheridan Smith as the housekeeper to draw the crowds? Maureen Beattie has been cast according to their Facebook page.

How long can this go on for? Until 16 August, when it will no longer have to because the government decided that arbitrary date is the only time self-isolation rules can be lifted, not sooner (despite many of us turning the Covid app off ages ago). Only if you're double jabbed plus two weeks, though, so shows will be dealing with this for a while especially with younger cast/crew. At least they have the chance to put someone else on, though, if they can.

This was my first show "back" and a great start! I agree with previous comments about how engaging and generally lovely Julie Hesmondhalgh is. Participation avoiders may wish to know that covid has led her to bringing her own prop shoes. There's a little gentle engagement with people near the front, but nothing requiring standing up! Seventy minutes straight through, and you leave with a smile, if a little moist eyed in some cases.

I dont think anyone has posted about the Sunday evening 8pm concerts which Stuart Matthew Price and his wife Heather Lundstedt have been doing. You can see previous ones on his Youtube or Facebook page- they include a Sondheim one, an Andrew LW one, some Disney, and some with more of a mixture of songs. I've been enjoying them- they're free but they give the chance to "tip".

Piaf with Jenna Russell at Leeds Playhouse is being moved to "a similar time next year". Apparently it's a new piece and obviously they can't get people together to work on it. Existing ticket holders asked to sit tight for now..

So yesterday I bought a net of small orange-coloured items labelled Citrus Fruit , but the variety name was on the tag. Nodorcott. And that, apparently, is a "Clementine-type of mandarin". I feel more confused than before! Tt had fairly loose skin and those stringy bits of pith- anyway it tasted good which I guess is the main thing. And I'm with you on bananas Dawnstar - sorry Monkey...

LNER are offering refunds and waiving the admin fee. Quoting myself here but it seems LNER's offer is a rebooking free of fees, or a refund as credit for advance tickets. I think it's only open tickets that would get a full refund.

Two classics from behind me at a regional tour of a play:
i. After we've sat for over an hour watching, the curtains close, lights go up. Voice from behind: Do you think this is the interval? ii. At the end, some earnest discussion between Persons A and B about how the play's title related to its plot (good question, I thought). Then A says "Well, I enjoyed it, whatever it was"

They've now added warnings of no trains on 20 and 21 June into/out of Kings Cross, which is West End Live weekend for those interested. Also 5 and 6 September as part of ten days of work. And a very tricky looking period of "planned disruption" from 19 December to late March 21.

Just made my now annual trip to York and despite no Berwick (onstage at least) it was the most I've laughed at a panto, and possibly in a theatre in general, for a long time. There is such a magical chemistry between the cast and nobody, but nobody can beat David Leanord for comic villainary, his facial expressions alone are enough to bring the house down. Suzy Cooper though was the standout for me, going for the slapstick with aplomb and exuding an infections high energy throughout. I overheard some staff member saying there could be a cast shake up next year. Well I reckon there will be riots on the streets of York if there is! Yep it's started. First with Berwick Kaler saying in the local press that he wished he hadn't retired and felt the theatre had skimped on sets and made tickets too expensive.(He did write this year's show) Other cast members came out and said they feared being axed. Now there are stories that cast have been told they won't be back next year and there will be a new style panto. Various petitions starting up, though there are also voices saying change was needed. Still two weeks to go of this run..that will be tricky!
