I was interested to see that story a while ago about Les Dennis posting his song list on social media instead of sending it to his agent. It just set me wondering how many of the songs the couples dance to are from the celebrity's wishlist.

Krishnan threw himself into the group dance more than he might have done, but yes fan base could be an issue. Gorka seemed to be pushing and pulling Nikita K into position a lot and Jody didnt look comfortable. Early days though and I imagine the group dance is more challenging for a beginner, with all the issues of hitting marks and avoiding other couples!

Ah @tallpaul I was also troubled by the bow tie. Bit concerned that you have us paying tribute to 'Les' already though. He struggled but he's not ready to pickle his walnuts yet as the late 'Len' would say !

There was an interview with Bonnie on BBC Breakfast the other day when she said the whole cast is in a lot of numbers and learning complex harmonies etc. So I guess they have a whole track for someone to learn, not just a couple of numbers and a finale

Yes the programme states ages. The leads are 19, 21 and,21 and the oldest is 23. I agree with Mr Snow about Madeleine Morgan. Amazing performance.

I’m not a fan of Layton tbh, his ego goes before him. Now will he be a same sex coupling? When Layton was revealed he said he didn't mind who his partner was, so long as it was a guy so he could be "thrown around" I'm just amazed I've heard of all 4 so far- cant last!

Thank you lou105. Can you elaborate? I will probably heed your advice and hope this is filmed for NTLive, and catch up with it in the future. I'm probably on the conservative side about things I would take a child/young teen to watch, so I wouldn't presume to judge for anyone else. As another poster said, the more adult content is discussed or implied rather than graphically portrayed. Are you happy to let a number of f***s (sometimes just as swear words, sometimes used as a verb), and a couple of c***s go over their heads? Would it bother you that they heard a sex worker list what they were willing to offer? As I mentioned, I really enjoyed the play, and I dont think any of it is gratuitous, in fact it's part of the poignant emotional tone of the piece. But for me, anyone under 14 or so is unlikely to engage with either the artistic or the personal struggles, and would at best be politely bored.

Also there last night and really enjoyed it. The end of act one was really moving and Mark Gatiss was a joy in general. I'm not steeped in the timbre of the "real" voices of the characters so I wasn't analysing that, but was glad to have a reasonable knowledge of Hamlet and an outline understanding of the personalities involved. Sure I'm not the only one who thought Gertrude was familiar and was surprised to find it was Janie Dee! Whilst you could argue that a NT crowd would be likely to get the references, that also makes the production vulnerable to negative opinion, so it was lovely to hear a genuine warm reception, with cheers from the moment the curtain calls started. This isn't going to appeal to everyone but, if you think you might like it, I think you will! Personally standingo I'd have been uneasy at times with a preteen watching this, but I also don't think they'd get much from it, so it maybe depends on why you were thinking of taking them!

Have you tried putting them in your basket sam22 ? I would also have not bothered but, as fiyero helpfully said, the price changes when you add them. Just got prime dress circle for £30 on a Saturday matinee so very happy with that.

I once went to his live teatime chatshow and, as mentioned above, he would tell naughty stories in the ad breaks then seamlessly return to the script as the show came back on. Then just make a little reference like "I was just telling the audience" so you'd wonder what he was going to say! Must have terrified the gallery.

There was a Headlong version about 5 years ago with digitised voice swapping and scenes in glass boxes as I recall.

Side note but there's a new musical based on Mayflies being premiered in York in April/May. Written by Gus Gowland, who also wrote Pieces of String which was streamed in lockdown. That's interesting. Music plays a big part in the book, I wonder if they will try to use some of the original tracks in addition to new material. The book draws on memories related to those tracks, which the reader is likely to be able to put in social context, which might be difficult to convey with new material. Then again, I think it's coincidentally the same title as the material seems rather different!

I saw Biggins in Darlington yesterday (family nearby). The show is Peter Pan but further down the timeline (Wendy pops back to Neverland,Peter has forgotten how to fly, can they find some fairy dust to save the day scenario). Biggins plays Mrs Smee, mother of Smee, who is the "Hiya kids" character. He is moving very cautiously these days, and was kept out of the most active elements like If I were not in panto now..by the device of the other characters shouting Not yet! every time he came on. He did the singalong with the kids very well and a nice duet with Captain Hook, but he stood still whilst the latter danced round him. Clearly recent health issues have taken their toll and the big cumbersome costumes won't help. A strong cast overall, notably Steve Arnott as a verbose Captain Hook and some acrobatic pirates. Some of the jokes were on the crude side for some tastes but overall a lively colourful show.

I wonder if the combination of Will's apparent reaction to being critiqued, and the choice of style for the Couple's Choice lost him votes?

For anyone due to go tonight, were you contacted please? A friend is due to go tomorrow and it's obviously a bit out of the way to go anywhere else, if you find out on the door ( obviously really hoping it goes ahead for all concerned). Thanks

I'm sure this has come up before but if you feel the need to wear your very rustly waterproof coat throughout a performance, at least try to sit still...Person in question then decided it was time to take it off completely just as the play was coming to its tense climax...

I've used them without issues. It's tricky with so many agents with similar names, but you can check the website of The Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers (STAR) to see which ones adhere to their code of conduct.

The Spoiler has been updated to say Tony withdrew with a pulled hamstring- not clear if he did the dance-off at all, or stopped in the middle. In either case, he was in the bottom two, so did the Arsenal fans stop voting for him or did the message go out that he'd had enough?!
