I only have one brand new production scheduled in before the end of the year so may as well do these now.
1. Spring Awakening (Almeida) 2. Rent (Hope Mill) 3. Anything Goes (Barbican) 4. The Normal Heart (National) 5. Frozen (TRDL)
Honourable mentions to Mischief Movie Night In and Bandstand at Arts Ed.

The gap has been reduced to 3 months hasn't it? It’s still not available to all age groups though.

The show got out tonight around 10. What an absolutely glorious revival this is. I say this as someone who worked with the original Broadway production and Im very particular about changes to this show and different direction etc. But I have zero complaints here. I think some of the cast will grow into their roles as time goes by but they all seem pretty much perfect as of second preview. I walked out of the theatre with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. We seem to be following each other around London - Hex last night and Spring Awakening tonight! No question which one I preferred. This is an incredible production. Honestly I don’t have the words to sum it up and I also don’t want to spoil the experience of seeing it for the first time for anyone. There was a brief show-stop tonight to deal with a piece of misbehaving set but it was handled very well.

It must be- they’ve removed Monday- weds off sale on the website. Multiple cast have Covid and no understudies will have been rehearsed in The Wednesday hasn’t been on sale (I’ve been looking at tickets a lot since first preview, seeing what they were doing with prices)

This evening was so special. Seeing Michael and Emma as Oliver and Jenny again was like going back in time to 2011, they were glorious. There was a well deserved rapturous applause for ‘Pasta’.
I think this show will always have the power to move me and so it’s such a shame that this might have been the last time we see it, for a while.

I appreciate that by now many of us have seen this now either at the cinema or on Netfliks but if anyone can get to London and is interested att the British Film Institute (BFI) at Southbank they are screening this on 9th Dec at 8.30pm with a Q&A with director Lin-Manuel Miranda, actors Alexandra Shipp and Robin de Jesús and producer Julie Oh. I just booked a ticket. For those interested, my recommendation is to book quickly. I would love to go but I’m at the theatre on the 7th and the 8th and I definitely can’t do 3 nights out in a row these days, unless I’m on holiday from work. If it had been an earlier start time I might have considered it.

Barnaby Hughes, who was announced to be playing Enjolras on the tour, appears to have left the production (seemingly permanently - he’s removed any mention of it from his social media). Samuel Wyn Morris was Feuilly and 2nd cover Enjolras in the West End - he is now playing Enjolras for the first two tour venues. Niall Sheehy has replaced him in the West End. His Twitter and Instagram still have his profile pic as Enjolras - and his Twitter bio states that as his current role? The official website cast list hasn't been updated yet either. Are you sure you've got the right guy/looking at the right user? Yes, for me his Instagram profile picture is definitely not him as Enjolras, and I don’t think he’s updated his Twitter bio as it says International Tour, which was pre-Lockdown (now it’s referred to as UK & Ireland tour). He had an announcement post on Instagram when the casting for the current tour was announced which has since been taken down. And I wouldn’t put it past them to have updated the website adding Samuel but forgetting to remove Barnaby, after it took them weeks to update the cast page once it had been announced in the first place.

Some cast changes in the production? Niall Sheehey joins the Sondheim cast and Sam Wyn Morris transfers to the tour. Have some cast members left? Barnaby Hughes, who was announced to be playing Enjolras on the tour, appears to have left the production (seemingly permanently - he’s removed any mention of it from his social media). Not a rumour just hope. The Van Hove West Side did not reopen on Broadway and so is it now possible the wonderful Curve production can transfer into town? With the Spielberg film opening at Christmas I'm sure we'll see more WSS over the next few years I would love for this to happen more than anything.

On the website, it says that Tanisha Spring is the alternate Satine and Adam Gillian is the walking cover for Christian. This means that Tanisha will probably have a set schedule where Adam is more of a "Standby"? Do we know what performance(s) Tanisha will do each week? ST I haven’t seen anything about a Satine performance schedule yet. It’s become apparent in the last few days that Adam Gillian is a swing, along with being the 1st cover Christian, so it’s interesting that they’ve given him the “Walking Cover” title but yes, it implies he’ll just cover absences rather than set performances.

Lauren is on again today, along with Michael Hamway as Sebastian and Michelle Bishop as The Stepmother (her first official alternate show). I would’ve like to be there today to see this cast, as well as seeing Lauren’s debut yesterday!

Is the ballgown meant to look intentionally horrible because it’s meant to highlight how wrong ‘bad Cinderella’ is meant to feel while wearing it? Because my goodness, it doesn’t look good on any of the lovely ladies who play Cinderella. It is so unflattering and the horrible blonde wig doesn’t help. The three women who have played her are so stunning but the look just doesn’t work for any of them. I thought that. Under the lights everything looked grey (including the makeup) and washed out and Cinderella looked very square and frumpy. Remember trying on meringue wedding dresses back in the day with a similar bodice and skirt like that. It takes a certain shape (not mine!) to pull it off. The wedding planners essentially say unless you’re willowy and tall with a small bust don’t touch them. Edit: cute pic of Lauren though - the dress suits her but it’s still a very strange colour and the wig? Between that and the black matted grunge hat that poor Cinders is saddled with...I think I’d pop and have a look at some online offerings http://instagr.am/p/CV8oZetIFfW The dress looked lovely on Lauren, but combined with the wig it does wash her (and Carrie) out under the stage lights.

It was a shame that a third of the audience decided to have a coughing fit during Far Too Late (and someone was sick at the end of it) as Lauren’s rendition was truly beautiful. She did such a fantastic job this afternoon.

They'll probably wheel the much too old Jodie Steele out again... not that she's bad she's just far too old. I would imagine someone like Christina Bennington will go in again as Veronica. Both Jodie and Christina have confirmed they won’t be part of it. Paul Taylor-Mills posted an Instagram story earlier that indicated casting wasn’t complete yet, and it also sounds like rehearsals start on Monday.

According to WEU on twitter Sarah O’Connor was on as Anna yesterday too. I didn’t see a tweet saying she was on yesterday, just Friday and Saturday.

Am I miscounting? I see 9 shows in a given week which is only really 1 extra? It’s a 9 show week, but they’ve only been doing 7 shows up until now as the Monday performances only start this coming week. The Thursday matinee is an extra, most likely to capitalise on half term.

If she specifically wanted to react to Bad Cinderella, I'm I am pretty sure Carrie's sung it at other events with way better sound and officially filmed and still available video. But she has reacted to another Bad Cinderella performance, she’s did a video about The One Show performance and was really complimentary of Carrie. For the purposes of this channel, the West End Live performance was, unfortunately, a good example of when things go wrong.

If she tested positive today, isolating for 10 days will mean she'll also miss the following Saturday no? I believe it's 10 days from the onset of symptoms, not from the date of the positive test. If you have symptoms, it’s 10 full days after the day you first develop the symptoms. If you don’t have any symptoms, it’s 10 full days after the day of test. Tuesday is the latest that Day 0 could be for her to be out of isolation next Saturday - and that would be the first day out of isolation!

Or it could be that people don’t like self righteous social media posts from the leads? Then where is the criticism for Killian Donnelly, for example? His tweet telling off audience members was far stronger and yet has gone completely without comment. Seems unfair to me (to be clear though I DON'T want to criticise Killian either!). I think there’s a vast difference between calling audience members out for filming the show, which no-one is doing involuntarily, and criticising audience members for calling out during the show, when they may not be able to help it.

Question from my husband. With Rob pulling out, does this mean that there will be a week where no-one goes home? No, it will be a three couple final rather than four. If someone else has to pull out then they might skip an elimination.

Seems quite unusual to have one actor have 3 1st cover principal roles - great opportunity for the 2nd covers who are more likely to get shows in this arrangement. As it is tonight as the understudy is on Lumiere tonight. 2nd cover Gaston on today as well.
