Lovely Tickemaster email deal this morning for people who have booked in the past. Half price Band A and B seats for Wednesdays up until 18th July.
Managed to convince my brother to come this time - it’ll be my 13th, but the first in nearly 3 years.

I am planning to see this cast once more, if anything just to see some of the Ensemble a last time. I'm kinda glad I don't have to rush back now to see Sophie, since she will be there a while anyway.

If anyone’s interested in when Carina is returning she doesn’t actually know herself yet, the job is open for her to return anywhen within a year of her first leaving. She’s hoping to take the entire year (so back with the show just after Christmas) but isn’t committed to that currently, if she needs to come back earlier she will.

Not West End, but broadway just cast its first woman of colour as a Glinda understudy. This is a big move considering the casting calls that normally go out call for Caucasian! I believe she'll be the first woman of colour to play Glinda outside of Asian productions of Wicked. source: http://instagram.com/p/BjqOFwuD4-M

Very interested to see what colour wig she gets and, if not blonde, what they do with Elphaba's "blonde" line in "What is This Feeling".

I would imagine she would be blonde as it would tie in with the marketing posters outside the theatre. But I can see them adapting her make-up - when Sheryl Ralph joined the cast as Morrible her costume and wigs were the same but she had her own style of make-up, that I think is carried into London for Claudia.
It’s a really great move though!

I didn't really get why she had to be white anyway apart from to fit the ditzy blonde stereotype. I think she just needs to be pretty and girly looking.

So heartened to hear that news about Brittney Johnson's casting. I was certain the casting directors etc. would break the mould eventually! Best of luck to her.

Watched this interview on facebook the other day and really enjoyed it especially the live performances, had never noticed how much taller Alice is than Sophie before though(not that it matters) they both towered over me when I met them, I was a short arse in trainers and they were both in heels as they were going to a party!

So an audio has appeared of Alice doing Defying Gravity on the 9th. Not gonna lie, its not that great. Yes she has a good voice, but her version sounds nothing like the actual score, she r**fs on every, single word almost, its distracting. She is by no means a bad Elphaba having seen her twice now, shes great, so fangirls don't take this as hate. Its not my taste anyway.

I was going to comment on this audio because it's almost as if she sounds bored. So she's riffing to amuse herself.

I was actually going to bring this up but I'm glad you beat me to it Daniel.
Okay, I love a riff. I know that's a controversial opinion on this thread, but if Shoshana Bean wants to option up to notes nobody has ever hit before in a tasteful way to heighten a specific moment of the score, I'm completely fine with that. There are even riffs that I think should be made mandatory, like the "feeling things I'VE never felt" or extending the "look" in "look to the western sky".
Let's talk about Alice. She's a very competent vocalist, she's actually got better attendance than almost any Elphaba, she has a brilliant belt and I genuinely would say that by the time she leaves she could be at Rachel Tucker / Kerry Ellis level of acclaim. I like many of her riffs, and if she wants to chuck one or two of them in from time to time, no complaints from me. What I find to be overkill is that she's doing effectively no more than five riffs, and then just implementing them on every other line. Her most common one is the "take it up two notes" which she does on "so if you care to find me", "to fly" and "from me". A riff should be a carefully thought out enhancement to the score, it shouldn't be a) an easier way of hitting what the composer has actually written, or b) a melody to rush over to avoid having to hold the same note.
I think she needs to immediately half the number of riffs she does, and then work on each of them to make sure they are actually adding to her performance and aren't, as Sophie said, just a way of amusing herself 10 and a half months into the contract. Come on Alice, you're an excellent Elphaba, you don't need to do this.

Alice does have a very good voice even though some of her riffs are quite a choice, but I personally do not believe she is on the same level as Rachel or Kerry.

I quite like some of the riffs Alice does from what I've heard, but I don't like the 'Tell them how I' riff she's come up with - it doesn't fit in the song at all (though I like the Jennifer DiNoia style one she sometimes does). I saw Nikki Bentley in Liverpool and she threw in quite a lot of riffs in DG, but they complemented the score so they didn't sound out of place like that one Alice does.

Ariana Grande’s just tweeted “Tell them how I’m defying gravity”, read into that what you will after the questionable article in The Sun a few months ago... (it’s probably nothing, she is genuinely a fan of the show anyway)
And as far as the Alice issue goes, it reminds me of a Peter Capaldi moment in Doctor Who that I remember vaguely where he says if you have a mop and replace the handle and then later on replace the brush it’s no longer the same mop, I feel like that’s what Alice is doing with the Wicked score.

Thoroughly enjoyed this post - how it made very little sense yet I understood it entirely. Some of Alice’s choices are sounding quite like Emma Hatton - i.e. let’s just extend this note..and this note..oh and this one just for the sake of it.

Apparently she (Sarah) posted a video titled “How not to sing the Wizard and I” which had Laura Pick in it. I remember one time I commented on one of the audios of Laura something along the lines of “please promote her!” and got attacked by her saying “Laura is crap. Alice is the best.” Or something or other. Any Elphaba that isn’t Alice, Nikki B, Rachel or Amy W, she totally hates it seems.

Sarah Louise is a Wicked fan (weirdly enough the one who gave Rachel the microwave). She has a plethora of mental health issues, and also suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, none of which of course is her fault, but she uses it as a cover for wholly unacceptable behaviour.
Every now and then she will do something stupid in a plea for attention. She comments on most Wicked audios on YouTube, usually finding a reason to shoehorn in a derogatory comment about Willemijn or Laura Pick.
A couple of years ago she was jailed for sending r*pe and death threats to a Holby City actress. I believe, although it’s not my place to speculate, she has also been warned about inappropriate behaviour towards Wicked cast members - nothing with the current cohort though, we’re going back a few years at this point.
She needs to be kept at a healthy distance at all times I would say.

So SHE was the microwave person. For some reason, I thought it’d be some random old man.
Aspergers is no excuse. I also have it but I never use it as an excuse for anything.

“Kept at a healthy distance” - I’m guessing she’s the reason why there’s barriers at stage door and a G4S security guard and ATG front of house person in attendance after a show.
