Saw the sat mat. It looks in very good form, you can see why they what to leave it mostly alone.
Laura is an interestingly different Elphaba with some big notes - literally with audience woops to prove she has wow factor. Sophie has become a great Glinda - she started with the advantage of being/looking nearer the right age than most, and having a great, powerful, soprano end to her range, i hadn't heard her use before. They needed a Glinda who was that strong to stay up with Alice, and Sophie is keeping Glinda side up level. She's now built a really great character throughout. She's getting the laughs - including those early on where the audience sometimes haven't switched on yet. She's looking consistently on role, and accent, and I liked now shes playing well with Glinda's annoying and flirtatious sides. I also liked the way she's sustaining the character - for example toss toss is now appearing when Glinda would have tossed, and isn't restricted to a couple of tosses in Popular.
The place was almost full and there was a standing ovation when Elphaba and Glinda came forward. The empty seats in the premium section were a bit sad looking, but if you can get people to pay 150% of the old price for most of them, you probably don't mind if you have some gaps.
The only annoying thing were the asian tourists who chatted throughout. Time to issue the FOH staff with long wands to swipe them with?

Well when I saw Wicked there was a big group of them in the premium seats taking pictures of the show every 5 minutes (DG, Popular, Thank Goodness, NGD) and the ushers did nothing. Language barrier maybe?

I had considered going to the cast change day this year as I missed it last time, but as only Bradley of the main roles is leaving it may not be quite as crazy as usual! It won't be anywhere near the usual crazy. Even Willemijn and Suzie's final show paled in comparison to the old days of cast change. Wasn’t that the day the stans whipped out the glowsticks during For Good?

The normal everyday audience would have been like “wtf” and probably hadn’t heard of either Willemijn or Suzie or had no idea of cast change.

Ex-Wicked cast member Jessamy Stoddart is joining Hollyoaks!

As much as I moan about the lack of social media engagement by Wicked, they’ve handed over their Instagram account to the tour cast and they’ve just done a live broadcast of their physical and vocal warmups!
Definitely worth checking out if you like a behind the scenes look, it makes a change for us to get something interesting!

Their physical warmup looks so choreographed and slick - it could be a musical in itself! The set looks a bit small I think. Maybe it's because the stage at the Edinburgh Playhouse is HUGE.

It's a gorgeous theatre. Unfortunately the only time I've been there was a misguided trip to see Jekkyl and Hyde the Musical.
I still have nightmares about how bad that show was.

Well I'm still horrified at the amount of tribute acts and Kenwright productions frequenting the theatre. It's just going to waste because all the big musicals (Les Mis, Miss Saigon) go to the Festival Theatre (easier to fill, probably cheaper to hire) instead. Wicked, Matilda, Kinky Boots and said Kenwright musicals are sadly the only ones left there. It is beautiful and I'm glad ATG are slowly but surely restoring it to its former glory (good riddance to the red colour scheme of before!)

Just curious, do the non-dancing actors do the physical warm-up?

Just curious, do the non-dancing actors do the physical warm-up? It was the whole cast including a greened up Amy from what I could see!

I feel for any of the actresses who have had their hairlines turned green by Elphaba. I could see green on Alice and Amy and it must be really damaging to their hair after a while.

They must really have to look after their skin too. 20 minutes of scrubbing every night can't be good.

Not seen this thread on page two for a long time so had to revive it with a tweet I have just seen on my time line this evening. Normal fangirling service is resumed!

Can you buy those Wicked lanyards or are they just for cast only? I want one!

Matt Parsons has posted a few pictures of himself with Lauren Brooke on instagram saying its their last Oz Dust together, I may be jumping to conclusions but wasn't she bought in to cover Rosa's ensemble track? So I am now wondering if Sarah is coming back to finish out her contract as Nessarose?although Rosa won't have done her ensemble track for nearly a year now so would probably need to rehearse it again surely and wouldn't you just keep the extra swing just in case till cast change?

It's possible but she may have another job that she's leaving for.

And Lauren being brought in meant they had 5 Girl swings due to one of them permanently being on for Rosa. They still have enough cover if Lauren leaves and worst case that they’re all needed between now and cast change they’d swing multiple tracks or cut the show slightly!

Is it just me or do these tweets make you feel really uncomfortable to read? The tweet regarding Joseph is definately uncomfortable to read, especially as she tweeted it directly to him. Mainly because either he may of been in a rush and didn't want to hurry chatting to people so would rather just walk off fast, but also does she not realise he is 98% deaf? He may not of had his ears in (he has reffered to his hearing aids as that before on his blog and twitter), its not really fair to say that on twitter, because now he may feel bad for not stopping to chat when he couldn't help it. I get the impression from her trying to get his attention that she is aware of him and follows him on social media etc, so shemust be aware considering his twitter bio literally says "deaf dancer".

Yeah I get what you mean. It’s one thing tweeting someone congratulating them on the show and /maybe/ dropping in that you wished you hadn’t missed them at stage door (wouldn’t reccomend though) and flat out mentioning them and potentially posing them as a bad person

Would never mention a performer directly if I didn’t enjoy their performance, or if they didn’t come out to stage door. Seems wrong.
