See my previous post re parcel left with neighbour. Although the mystery deepened further and it had actually been left somewhere completely different

Just packing for a short visit tomorrow to Budapest. I'm really looking forward to it except the temperature is currently 34 degrees and I'm not great in hot weather. Still, ''tis my own fault, I read this was their hottest month before booking. It's just difficult for me work-wise in the cooler months. Get thee to the Szechenyi Baths then, best place in Budapest anyway. Beware of elderly Germans getting irate when you hog one of the massage fountains too long.

Great start - managed to get Michael Kiwanuka tickets for the Palladium in October - front row royal circle. Interestingly, See opened at 8.55 and the Palladium site didn't go live until nearly a minute past 9. Then it wouldn't play nicely so I couldn't get front row stalls. But I'm more than happy.

Trying to send politely complaining tweets to Great Northern rather than rude ones as it looks like I'll be late to a concert at Cadogan Hall for the second time in under a year due to a delayed train. Before anyone says "Why didn't you get an earlier train?" I was a) packing for going on holiday tomorrow/Sunday & b) trying to simultaneously watch the Tour de France. Get a move on, train!

1. First off I went to The Wallace Collection. I opened my bottle of water on the 1st floor landing. It was my sparkling water and not the still water. Squirted all in front of me and one the floor. I used my sweater (jumper?) to wipe up all the water on the floor. Someone comes up and (very nicely) said that they don't allow fizzy water any more as not too long ago someone opened it and it got on a painting. Was so embarrassed. Gave up my bottles with profuse apologies. 2. Got to the British Museum later than I had hoped but got through the Egyptian exhibit on the first floor and then we were evacuated for security reasons. It went very smoothly and luckily my vacation is long enough that I can schedule for another day 3. Decided that this all has been Fates way of telling me I needed to get to my room, have an early night and rest my legs. There was a car accident on the bus route and we had a long detour until we finally got back on route. I'm in my room and not leaving it tonight Almost forgot. I missed my stop but there was a Tesco on the next one so I went in and got some scones, clotted cream (how did I live without this before) and fruit spread for my breakfast tomorrow. As Scarlett in Gone With The Wind says "After all... tomorrow is another day"

It was odd to introduce her for no real reason. It looked a set up. She is obviously hacked off at her bloke being abroad. Not that she will get off with Hathaway but I thought that pal she knew from the club might be in the frame. We don't know Tony is a bloke do we? I like the Hathaway character. Gosh what a talented family eh, those Foxes?

I just made the concert in time. Also just made the train home in time, the concert having finished nearly half an hour later than scheduled! I know running times for one-off events can be a bit inaccurate but that is impressively inaccurate! Still, it meant I bumped into an actor I know on the tube so every cloud.

Troubled by a situation at my Mums. Herself and her immediate next door neighbour have recently received packages they hadnt ordered from mail order companies. My Mum contacted one of the companies in question to query what was going on and they kindly agreed to send her the order form that had been posted to them. Its very scruffily written but I suspect the neighbours 2 doors away are involved. They have long been causing problems for my Mums immediate neighbour and this strikes me as a progression. The mail order company have advised us to contact the police which I helped her with this afternoon. I certainly dont tgink we're dealing with master criminals here because anyone of moderate intelligence wouldnt handwrite an order form that could be used as evidence. My biggest concern is any escalation from this current point as I cant be there all the time but shes on her own and therefore vulnerable. Suspected offenders previous exploits have included throwing animal faeces over neighbours wall and the police failed to do anything as there was no proof.

Hark! I hear hoovering! I'd confiscated Mini Tibs' car key as she hasn't hoovered her room since circa 2008 (when she was cute and thought hoovering was fun.) Lately it's been one excuse after another - dance exams, A levels, parties, a new zit....and well, I'd had enough. (If that makes me a bad mother so be it!)
Anyway. She started Zumba recently and the Zumba teacher likes her and has started to put her at the front. She's loving it. There's a class at 9.15 tomorrow. 5 miles away. None of her friends want to get up early so she can't cadge a lift like she's been doing all week. I'm laughing so much (through the dust!)
Edit: I'd forgotten the carpet is blue!

Booked for Goldfrapp, Brixton Academy, November.
Didn't have any lunch was so very hungry and got stuffed at Wahaca before seeing Committee.
Listening to a very free-form live Genesis jam from 1975 (The Waiting Room) on youtube while typing this.

Had my last day in our US office and am now officially on holiday! Yay! It was lovely (although exhausting - was here to meet people and forge closer working relationships, so had to be happy and cheerful and sociable, instead of my usual grumpy work-self) but I am so ready to go home. I fly home Sunday evening and then have the whole week off.
Going to do the Getty Center tomorrow.

That does sound a very unpleasant and worrying situation, infofreako. Apologies if you know all this and have already tried, but if your mother is a tenant rather than a homeowner, and with a local authority or housing association, though the parcels are for the Police to deal with, I would expect the landlord to treat the ongoing issue as antisocial behaviour (ASB) and to address it. It's ASB Week this week, too, which I think is a national event as I've seen loads of tweets about it in my area. For a homeowner or private tenant it's not so easy but any landlord has a duty of care to tenants, especially vulnerable ones, though may need reminding of this. And does your mother have a Support Worker who might help? Though I know these days most of them have very limited hours.

Anyone else greeted by Anusol ads every time they log in? Or am I being singled out?!

No Anusol ads today but I have had them several times in the past. I was wondering where they came from as most ads are search related or perhaps they are just reflecting the state of the world nowadays.

So-called targeted advertising can be weird. On another site I routinely get advertisements for horse feed despite never having owned a horse. Amazon keeps recommending bass guitars, Monster High books and vacuum cleaners. I've never bought a guitar or a Monster High book. I did once buy a vacuum cleaner so they got that right, but now they seem to think I collect them for a hobby.

What gets me is being invited to go somewhere I have just been (why would I want to go straight back within hours of returning home?) or buying something I have just purchased. Obviously the computer generated programme doesn't incorporate the commonsense gene!

Or the assumption (usually by Amazon) that I will want the additional items chosen by the previous person who bought the DVD I have selected. Just because they want a toy for their baby niece and a lifetime supply of goldfish food, there's no reason to assume I do too, because we both bought Gypsy..

So wet & cold at Opera Holland Park this evening that I've just spent the interval marching up & down outside in the hope of staving off hypothermia in Act 2!

On the one hand, I do find it irritating that if I buy, say, a pair of gloves online, the internet assumes that's now my favourite hobby and shows me endless ads for gloves. But on the other hand, I find it fairly reassuring. If the robots aren't bright enough to watch me buy a pair of gloves and conclude that I am now good for gloves, they're probably not bright enough to rise up against us yet.

I've finally tried the much-discussed-on-here M&S lemon and lime jaffa cakes. I'm afraid I didn't like them. I try not to throw away too much food but I'm afraid nine-tenths of the packet will shortly be hitting a bin in Euston Travelodge, as one was more than enough. (NB I do like regular jaffa cakes.)
