She’s shown she has the stamina on that mammoth ‘Sister Act’ slog!!
Maybe lose the black slip dress though.

Lesley Joseph for Norma!! For some reason my mind saw Leslie Phillips. Not possible, obviously, but could have been a great crossover opportunity for a Norman Desmond...

Britney for Norma.
The problem with recasting is Jamie Lloyd will be on to something else, so casting someone bonkers would be a risk, and while a safe pair of hands would make an enjoyable show, the sheer surprise that Nicole could do that, is gone.

Aguilera, perhaps. Spears? Can’t actually sing live to any sort of acceptable standard which kind of rules her out.

During the run I kept asking if might extend/come back and did come to accept all the reasons given here as to why it wasn't!
But yeah, I also wonder if having received the most Oliver's an ALW show has ever had if they may now re look at this.
It is tricky. I don't think any MT star is bigger than a show. But Nicole in this does come close! Tucker gave a vocally flawless performance but (for me) it really wasn't the same.
I would like to see another run. Less keen on it dragging on or touring if it leads to the product being diluted. But hey, what big musical has never been diluted IDK!
As for who could be Norma? I think there is someone out there. But someone nobody could predict!

When this comes back (which it will after these awards, box office and ALW's ego/pride) the replacement for Norma will be a HUGEEE A lister/Hollywood star type for sure, then will change every 4-6 months. It has the potential to run for a good 2-3 years in my opinion.
My guess is that after 6-9 months on Broadway, Nicole will reopen the show at a different West End theatre late 2025 and do the first 6 weeks THEN hand over to the next star. Depends on the success of Broadway and if she extends/wins awards there.
Quality casting of a A lister (possibly American) Norma, the right theatre, starting on the right month (with not much competition for example ) will mark the success of this shows' future life.
WATCH THIS SPACE!! Soooo exciting.

I think, when they cast Faith Brown in the tour they had the right idea, but her voice wasn’t quite strong enough to give you the Norma chills. Finding a ‘performer’ who can embody Norma; all that she is and has-been is a lot more specific than casting someone who can sing it well. I just wish our Jane had the acting chops for this because vocally she would knock it out of the park.

I’d just love to see Rachel Tucker do it again…

Would also love to see Rachel do this again. I thought she and Nicole had slightly different takes and I preferred Rachel’s by a hair. It was a fascinating comparison.
However I agree they’re doing to do a Cabaret and stunt cast this every few months with a new Norma if it returns. Especially now they’ve managed to change the public perception of Norma around and they can cast women in their 40s without cries of “BUT GLENN CLOSE WAS 70!”

I’m not convinced it will return and I think theatre availability would be the biggest factor since you cant go too big or too small.

WATCH THIS SPACE!! Soooo exciting. The only way I could see Nicole making a "RETURN" with this to the West End would be if it takes off and does as well with the Tony Awards as it did with the Olivier's. Because right now the focus is on NY (with even Nicole doing a shout out to coming for Broadway in her beautiful speech... which btw - you Brits are so awesome in actually letting people speak and perform and have their moment unlike here in the US where 30 seconds in the orchestra starts to shoo you off) It's really tricky because if (and hopefully it will) be the critical and financial hit here that it was in the UK, there's going to be a temptation to take the money and run and end on a high note. Particularly with broadway economics being so awful. I was one who imagined POTO when it regained top-grossing production every week for its last year was going to rip up the closing and go back to open-end or at least extend again. But the financials are so awful here right now. I think Jamie Lloyd and team are more about doing something that's buzzy and makes their money back. But the days of "now and forever" runs are becoming less and less a thing. All that being said, let me ask- how do you all think Hannah Waddingham would do as Norma in this production?

Oh I'd guess that we've seen the last of Scherzy as Norma in the UK, and probably the last of this production here.
She'll want to take on other roles, and any huge A List star will want to take over on Broadway as the pay will be so much better (a proper A Lister can easily earn 50-75k a week on Broadway and that aint happening here)
Sad, but I can't see us getting this back any time soon

I don't think it will come back to London. It will go down in theatre history as one of those shows you can say "I was there".
However, in this case, I hope I am wrong as I would dearly love to see it again.

I thought she came over really well. Funny, self deprecating, generous to the creatives and cast and very glamorous. I hope she finds more amazing parts in MT after SB on Broadway. With that voice she could be an absolute force.

I'd LOVE to see it again too, but Jamie will have other projects (and as he's very publicly said, if Scherzinger had said no the project wouldn't of moved forward) and he'll want to build on the success of Sunset in his next projects. It did feel like lightning in a bottle, but I'd love to see her do it again...
