He is very good, very poised. As for the second part of this oeuvre which I saw this evening, come on people, it is 40 minutes too long. Like most American movies it doesn’t know when to end. There are at least three places it could end beside the actual ending. The dies in his sleep at 97 is so utterly sentimental as is all the other happy endings that it takes away from the attempted deep pain of the characters' experiences. The suicide is a cliche. Did the writer not know how to get this character sorted out? The flashes of Howard's End were puzzling. They seemed to me rather workshopped, as if someone had the idea and they all worked on bits of it. I’m sorry but I just don’t see why this is so lauded at the moment. As for Ms Redgrave, she didn’t take advantage of the voice coach did she? Her accent was so all over the place it was ludicrous. It would have been better to keep her a Brit than the Australian Essex girl she came out as. Though hearing a woman's voice at the end was refreshing. So I was disappointed to say the least. The best part of the experience for me this week, having seen part one n Monday and two tonight was discovering the Egyptian Street food place opposite, Koshari Street. Great tasty food and lovely guys in there. Almost a replacement for Gaby's of blessed memory. I was in for part 2 tonight too, totally agree about the accent! Funnily enough I also went to Koshari street, great food and it was the first shift for one of the guys

I may see this on Broadway when I'm there at end of the month. Thought I might struggle to get a ticket, just looked for mid week evening shows and on ticketmaster about 90% of the seats are unsold! Unsold? That's surprising, a real drop off from the million dollar weeks every week since previews. Though January is a bit of a notorious month for being quiet so shows are ready for that. Yeah I was surprised - and that's just the Ticketmaster allocation- but I did think it's a slow time of year. It's NYC theatre week when I'm there and they go on sale on Wednesday so going to hold off for that beofre I book as shows on 241 so hoping to get a deal!

So torn over whether to book for this when I'm in NYC. I'm going with family so think Pretty Woman, King Kong or Anastasia may have greater appeal to them but I think this is probably a better show. Argh!

Has anyone seen this out of order? I'd really like to get to see it before it closes but only way I could is by seeing part 2 one evening then part 1 the following evening. It says on their website can see either part but also that the plot follows chronologically. I'd be grateful for any thoughts One of my friends saw it out of order and loved it! Thanks! I've decided to do that rather than miss out

If anyone else is looking to book for performances in the week the Official London Theatre NY sale has the £69.50 stalls seats for £40! Not great seats though. You’re better off doing the rush on TodayTix or waiting till the £25 tickets are released through the official website. Thanks but can't do the rush as only certain day can see each and if missed won't be able to see it. Don't think the seats are bad for th3 price

ATG have Avenue Q tickets at some venues on 241 in the Boxing Day sale. Just got Saturday matinee tickets for Birmingham in Feb - Band A seats in stalls for £20 each(including fees)

I've not seen it out of order but if you're willing to read a synopsis of Part 1 just so you're not blindsided all together by Part 2, then it's better to see it out of order than not at all, and honestly I think Part 1 is better anyway so there's ultimately no harm in leaving the theatre on a bit of a high. It does sort of suck that you would have to spoil yourself for Part 1 so you can actually get what's going on in Part 2, and it does sort of suck that the dramatic tensions of Part 1 would be lessened because you already know what's going to happen in Part 2, but we all know how Hamlet ends and keep buying tickets anyway, so as long as you're all about the journey rather than the destination (and I think you're open to these downsides or you wouldn't be considering seeing them out of order at all) then there's no reason not to do it. That's really helpful thanks

After only seeing half of the first act of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ this summer at Regent’s Park, I’m desperately yearning to see it make a re-appearance anywhere! I always thought that with a bit of rejigging to the show, the Dominion might be a good choice for this to slot in for a limited run. Anyone who saw the show in it’s entirety know if it would work, or if there’s any plans? I don't think they'd even be able to sell a limited run. Wasn't the last outing of Little Shop of Horrors in the West End at the Ambassadors! It's a fairly small set and cast so would be lost on the Dominion stage IMO

Hello all Hope you'll excuse a new thread, didn't know where else to post it. I'm unexpectedly in London tonight so plan to see a show and narrowed it down to three (after eliminating those I've seen, not interested in or too expensive). The three are: - 42nd Street - Switzerland - Summer and Smoke Any thoughts on which I should choose? It will be at the expense of the other two as won't get to see them before close. Thanks in advance

Changed the posters quickly, went past this morning as forgot to take a photo last night and already been replaced with signage for The Band!

I saw this last night for the first time. Enjoyed it overall and some good songs in it. We hadn't realised when we'd booked that it was the last night, the screaming was deafening! I'm all for people enjoying themselves and showing their appreciation but it was a bit much at times when it overpowered the vocals.
Speeches at end of show mentioned a cast recording and hinted it will be returning

It was obvious, at least to me they would cast a name in this and given she has played the role on Broadway, Ms McPhee was the leading contender. It will be a hard sell in the WE. No Tonys, and the so called "well loved film" is nothing of the kind. Is she a name though? I want to see the show regardless but I can't imagine she's a name here that's going to sell many tickets?

I was about to book this but eek! It’s expensive and will the production values be any higher than Southwark Playhouse? The stalls banquette seating (still desperately in need of a upholster no doubt) at 21 quid look a bargain. Handy for people who want to save and book in advance Anyone looking for offer, Whatsonstage have tickets on their Black Friday sale. I've just got two tickets for total £40 instead of £77 if book with theatre. The offer is for performances from 14-26 Jan, it's clearly not 79% off though as the website suggests. The seating plan doesn't show it in the round but you can cross reference with the theatre's seating plan to check you're sat where you want to be!

Not more than that, really. As others often say on here, just being really polite at the last moment goes a long way too. It comes down to whether staff have the autonomy to do something or not. If they can, they will, is all. As someone here said, if you are shy, a simple "are there any day seats left for this evening" tells the box office you are looking for a good deal. I've tried, "is there anything left in the restricted view stalls, please" and "Is there anything left for about £30, please" too. I'm sure others here have good advice as well. The best I've had was at the Palladium in 2006 when the Sinatra tribute show thing was on. I'd got my parents tickets for their anniversary and at the last minute decided to join them. When I collected the tickets I asked if there were any seats nearby as I also wanted to see it. I didn't even know about day seats then and didn't ask for a discount. The man said he could get me the seat next to them and then printed it off and gave it to me with £0.00 printed on it and just said there we go! I was completely baffled but he just said don't worry and then served the next customer. Not sure I'll ever manage it again

Not on sale for Leicester until end of the month and even then looks like only to members so booked for Nottingham. The website was so slow, don't know if rush for this or coincidence!

Isn't this the show that Sutton Foster starred in after her turn in Shrek? Yes but she did things in between (including a Tony Award for Anything Goes). Shrek was 2008-10 and Violet wasn't until 2014.

Wow this is exciting. 3 Jeanine Tesori shows in the space of 12 months! I meant that I'd see: Violet, Fun Home and Caroline or Change. But haven't Shrek and Thoroughly Modern Millie also been on tour this year. Pretty good 12 months for Tesori!

Was looking forward to the next Donmar musical but will probably give it a miss having seen the show at the Watermill and Notts Playhouse this year and the Menier version at the Haymarket
