Actually, if you look.. the press releases and Pip Gil publicity tweeted it out.. I think you're over thinking troops! Pip Gil tweeted AFTER Sheridan hastily tweeted out her news... 👌🏻

I'm so glad I happened upon this thread and see I'm not the only one who feels this way! I was a big big fan of cynthia I think I've probably seen her in everything she's done since sister act.. I travelled to NY to see her twice and she follows me on twitter. To me her personality has completed changed she has obviously had a big change in circumstance she is very famous now and has won numerous awards (which she doesn't mind boasting about) her quote tweeting arguments and "I'm always in the right mentality" have become so frustrating that I've now unfollowed her. It's disappointing because I still think she is hugely talented but it's difficult to support someone who you dislike personality wise. 😐

In my opinion she seems snobbish now I don't know if she's changed or if she was always this way and we just didn't know. She belittles fans constantly argues with people on twitter and seems to think she's above certain things.

Sorry if this has already been stated but without trawling back through will Sheridan & Natasha split at the same venues or do a venue each if you know what I mean. And if Sheridan is sick do we get Natasha? Natasha is doing: Stoke, Aberdeen, Woking, Canterbury, Glasgow, Nottingham, Norwich, Llandudno, Wolverhampton & Plymouth

Saw this in Edinburgh the other day.. my sister was hating it and wanted to leave at the interval but we persevered.. I will say the second act is much better than the first the songs are good story line is kind of meh. I saw people raving about the sets which I don't really get.. the costumes were also nothing spectacular. Natalie McQueen is great in this though.

Just to add my opinion... Saw this on Tuesday night so the last preview? It's not something I would see again. The cast are all great but the storyline for me was weak and the songs not very memorable. Victoria was the stand out.. her voice is just amazing. I also agree that the staging is very bizarre 😶

I was looking through my theatre programmes yesterday and was surprised to see Cynthia Erivo played Delores in the 2012 tour. What progress she has made career wise since then. Sister act was the first thing I ever saw Cynthia in! She was phenomenal

I have just checked the ATG website for the remaining performances and if anyone is in any doubt about Sheridan's "star power" they should check the availability for the remaining performances which are almost sold out apart from next Monday when Sheridan is not performing where there is LOADS of availability at all prices! So no problems for those who want to see the show but clearly most people want to see Sheridan Smith! It is NOT about who can sing it "better" but who has that indefinable quality that makes them a "star" - Sheridan Smith just has "it" whatever "it" is! Other performers who may be able to sing "better" or dance "better" can only watch and weep! I know you probably posted this to convey how wonderful you think sheridans "star power" is but to me.. It just comes across as someone saying yes we know Natasha can sing better (and in my opinion act the role better) but because she's an "understudy" (now alternate!) and not as well known screw her.. Granted the general public doesn't give understudies a chance but I very much doubt Natasha will be weeping about not being Sheridan smith.

After Rita buys a dance with Phil the ensemble start cheering and chanting "Phil! Phil! Phil!" at which point they all freeze and he starts singing the singing the first part. The musical interlude is where they transition to the balcony and start talking about that particular day. Rita comments on the weather and Phil start doing his "cold weather front mixing with the warm air in the north" schtick when she kisses him, which is the key change. They then sing the refrain again together and run off around halfway through the last chorus. The music swells and the theme plays as the ball is taken off and the bedroom set rematerialises. On another note, can I ask where Playing Nancy was sung at? The YouTube video doesn't list it. I thiiiink it was at one of Shoshana Bean's recent London concerts at a basement of a Pizza Express in Covent Garden, or something like that! It was Shoshana's concert on Sunday night at the pizza express 👍🏻 I'll add to the description now

Natasha would be wonderful. Please no stunt casting! I concur. Especially not for Fanny. Is Sarah Harding available?

From Broadwayworld:
upon seeing her in the role during star SheriDan Smith's two-month hiatus, the show's producer, Michael Harrison, knew that they had found their Cinderella. He insisted that his co-director, Andrew Wright, see the show to vet the burgeoning star. After catching a performance of Funny Girl, Wright agreed and they offered her the role.
Barnes will star opposite Paul O'Grady as the Wicked Stepmother, Julian Clary as Dandini, Amanda Holden as the Fairy Godmother and Wendy Somerville and Suzie Chard as the stepsisters.
"Natasha will be feisty and funny, and she's got that extra twinkle" Harrison told the Daily Mail, "When you're on stage with O'Grady and Clary, you've got to hold your own."

I'm GAGGING to find out who will be the touring Fanny. When do we think we'll find out? I've got a group of nine going. I don't think they'll be that impressed if there's someone up on stage who can't sing it very well (acting choice or otherwise) but they will be expecting those songs to be absolutely nailed. I suspect the rest of the paying public in Manchester, and all of the tour venues, will feel exactly the same. I feel like they won't announce it till after the Savoy run ends which in my opinion is rubbish! Everyone knows it won't Sheridan.

I didn't realise Fanny Brice wasn't a great singer. I didn't realise that SS was supposed to be impersonating not-very-good-singer Fanny Brice! But perhaps that's just the decision she's made?? Perhaps that the acting choices she has decided upon? Who are we to disagree

This again. Why can't we just agree that she's singing as Fanny Brice, with all that entails, not as herself. Streisand sounded like Brice never would on this earth, she sang as herself, with all that entails. Streisand is a singer/actor so sang the hell out of the songs, Smith is an actor/singer so acts the hell out of them. It really is that simple. Praise Jesus. I don't understand why this doesn't seem to be understood by some. Sheridan wasn't hired to play Barbra Streisand, she was hired to play Fanny Brice and that is exactly what she is doing 7 times a week at the Savoy!
I didn't realise Fanny Brice wasn't a great singer.

Sheridan is usually a star. In this she isn't. I swear her hands have never stopped shaking in act 1. Such iconic songs are supposed to be sung, not stumbled through. But it's a good musical - I'm just sat wondering what anyone else could have done with it. I know its a transfer so it was originally (or at least supposedly) designed for a smaller stage, so they've done well with the set in The Savoy. It feels intimate, so I'm very thankful to be near the front. But the intimacy comes from the direction too - abd I don't think it's well directed at all (for The Savoy). Still, I'm very happy to be sat watching it. I was very disappointed with the direction on 'Greatest Star', thought it was a good effort - if not rushed overall - on 'Parade' and thought 'People' was the best performance from Sheridan vocally thus far. I just feel Sheridan is miscast. [ You should perhaps visit again on a Monday
