I liked this, didn't love it. Kate's performance is absolutely excellent and next level. I would really like to hear a cast recording to check out the songs again.

Offensively expensive at the Pinter. Some sub-par seats on for £65 as if thats sort of the budget price. I agree. Loved the book, would love to see the play - but definitely not at those prices..

The book's social media accounts state an announcement coming tomorrow, so probably this?

Is there any chance this will extend beyond early Nov?

There was no visibility problems for me on first night performance from left side of the stalls. No actors facing backwards etc

Saw the first performance, it was very good. I thought better than the Old Vic production. Started at 7.35 and finished 10.35. Very impressive stage design!

You wish they would leave political commentary out of it whilst projecting your own very obvious politics into denigrating a show you haven’t seen. Got it! Strawman argument from someone who just posted last week to announce they were seeing their first ever West End show. You know nothing more of my politics or career than I care about yours. The difference is I am not charging people £70 a head to hear me take pot-shots at rubbish politicians or agendas I don’t like. I’m not getting paid for it, either. If I were to read Pride and Prejudice out loud to you, I wouldn’t need to alter the text to make Mr. Darcy a YouTuber and throw in ‘satire’ about government sleaze to “update the story for 2022 sensibilities”. As for “denigrating a show I haven’t seen”, I’ll gladly take that free ticket if they threw in travel expenses and a full refund for the disaster of Legally Blonde. Otherwise I think I’ll not bother thanks, especially given the response I’ve been getting from real life people whose opinion I value. Thanks for your response though, always happy to help newbies! You have way too much negativity for a show you haven’t seen.

A genuine question I've always wondered on the star system on some of these threads - have the people who score something one star actually seen the show? I remember a couple of one stars for cabaret and anything goes, and whilst theatre is subjective, I don't think anyone could accuse those productions of being one star. Not trying to start an argument - and if mods want to move this to a more suitable thread that's fine by me. I was just genuinely curious! I voted one star because I paid for a top tier ticket and I could only see about 25% of the performance because of the terrible staging. All I could see was the band. And the parts that I could see weren't good in my opinion.

Centre front stalls have a terrible view. About half the show is not viewable due to the orchestra being right in front of you. Really bad for top price seats?!
From what I could see, this was…fine. Its ambitiousness veered into obnoxious. The unconnected interpretive ballet dance opening for Act 2 had me rolling my eyes.

I somehow missed it, but there was an announcement a few days ago that, "In the coming weeks Opera North and Leeds Playhouse will confirm summer 2021 dates for...A Little Night Music." What's the betting that it clashes with the Buxton production? Awesome news, thanks for flagging! Looking forward to dates being announced

Oh this sounds great! I moved to Sheffield recently, so this isn't crazy far from me actually. Does anyone know if there is an exact date when tickets are going on sale? The website says box office reopens in April. I'll add a reminder note

Would love a ticket but know it's 99.9% not happening. Wonder if they would extend this by a few days, as there's clearly going to be demand?

I went on opening night. It was mildly funny at parts, but overall it felt very long, laboured and childish. The cast are definitely having more fun than the audience.

I managed to snag the last front row day seat today at about midday! I think it helped that I was only after one ticket and the row is odd numbered. Super excited to see this.

Saw this on Friday. Really enjoyed the first half, but the second felt very baggy. I wish it had just stuck more firmly on Victoria Hamilton's character and delved more deeply into her obsession with the Red Garden and what that represented. A lot of the subplots felt unnecessary and I don't think gelled. I also agree that the character of the son's girlfriend was pretty unbelievable.
That being said, the cast are good - in particular, Hamilton. I absolutely loved the set. It was overall an enjoyable evening. Just a shame that I know it could have turned into a great one had the script had some decent pruning.

Saw this tonight - I really enjoyed it. My first time seeing this musical! Now I'm gonna check out the PBS broadcasting of the original 80s production.
Cast was great, especially the leading lady. Would recommend checking it out if you have time this weekend
