Saw Blitz! at Union Theatre this afternoon and definitely one of the best productions I’ve seen there over the years. It’s a big cast, and they deliver it perfectly. Full house with an added front row. I can see why it got really good reviews for the show.

Finished just before 22.10 tonight when everyone rushed to switch their phone on.
Front row view is good - eye level with stage height for me at 5’ 10”. Not sure you could be much closer as most of solo singing done from edge of stage. I can see one of the mic stands landing in the audience at some point during the run. As for the show, they have made quite a few tweaks from previous run. Katie Brayben a good choice to play Elizabeth Laine and she does her own spell binding version of Like a Rolling Stone. For a 4th preview this was definitely up and running.

At tonight’s show. Halted after 30 minutes. No reason given but presume technical as we are waiting in bar.

If anyone interested I have a spare standing ticket tonight for Tree as cannot go now. Bought originally via TodayTix so unable to switch to another date.
Would rather went to a good home than wasted.

Went last night and really enjoyed it. Had originally booked box seats but venue contacted us to say view not good (looks like speaker stack blocks view) so originally moved us to another box. Asked if able to go in stalls instead and ended up being offeredfront stalls central rows. Opted for Row E which was great.
Stalls looked almost full so they do a good job getting people in at the last minute. No one in side seats first half but quite a few second so guess people moved down from the rear.

We were also at matinee and loved it. My wife gave it 100 out of 10. Really strong cast and excellent staging and choreography. Would definitely go see again.

Thanks. I felt the previous in the round I went to at Charing Cross worked better from the A side. You can. Remember the box office only opens 2 hours before anyway, so don't waste time calling in the morning. Is there a preference for this one re best view from the Row A side versus K side in stalls? I didn't think so. Maybe the row A side got a little more action at times as her chair is that end, but they play to both pretty equally. I would say to sit a few seats off the aisle, though, to get a view of action in the balcony.

I hear the staircase failed to lower last night during opening overture so orchestra played extended version until fixed.

Understudy on for Andy Nyman at matinee today. Put in a good performance although I’ve nothing to compare it to aside from Topol who I saw when I was about 8 but remember nothing about the show. Hoping they will add their customary mid week matineee late in the run so I can go again.

We chatted to the glasses caption people after the show. Been very popular since launch with lot of people using where English is a second language.
I got to try the National Theatre's smart caption glasses for the first time and while they were a bit heavy, they were overall terrific. Much better than regular captioning where your eyes keep darting between the captions on the side of the stage and the performers on stage. Such a wonderful service!

We caught the matinee today - full house. Booked fairly late for this on the back of some of the positive reviews on this site. Originally I was worried the storyline may be too complex for me to enjoy, but after reading synopsis found it really easy to follow.
For me it was my kind of music and stage setting. I also like a lot of the light settings deployed (but that’s the technical side of me). We really enjoyed all the cast and felt everyone well cast. When you stick a man and a guitar on stage you tend to limit what type of singer works best. I much preferred the approach adopted to having someone who has a sweet voice but doesn’t seem to fit the role of a singer songwriter.

We saw the matinee today and really enjoyed it. Like another poster said it flys by all too quickly. Really strong cast, nice story line and a good array of songs. Nice to see the Union Theatre almost full. I would say sound issues are now sorted, at least when sat in the front row. Drums were heavily muffled and music did not over power the vocals. It was nice to have the voices miked. Is this a one off or how it will be going forward?

I need to add to tickets section but think I will have 2 seats for matinee on 8th November if anyone interested. I need to double check row but thing Row E stalls middle section.
My 93 year old mum organised another group outing but miscounted so ended up with 2 spare tickets. Think they work out at about £30 each but guess she would be open to offers.

Saw the matinee yesterday and enjoyed as much if not more than first time at Coliseum. Row B centre stalls on the aisle is such a great place to be. Sight line was fine and you can smell the blood on Strat’s chest as the stage is built right up to row A with orchestra underneath on right side.
From a quick look at the cast list appeared to be a full line up with no understudy’s. Re the sound issues some have mentioned, I think a lot depends on where you are sat. Thanks to me deciding to nearly pass out a couple of times on the way there we arrived after it had started so were sat at the very back for about 10m. The sound there was very loud and not great for a musical. I would put this down to the area beneath the circle having speakers in that area pushing out too much sound and no where for it to go. Down at the front is was just right and very easy to here every word being sung.
Already re-booked for same spot in May.

I will be interested to know what the view from Row B stalls centre is like and whether it is any better than Row A. booked for a Saturday matinee when tickets first went on sale, hoping stage would not be too high. If it looks bad then may try for rush tickets on the day so that got the option to move.

Saw the matinee today. Lovely show. Feel you need to see it in entirety for it to fully make sense. In the early stages it may feel a bit bonkers. Plenty of hankies out at the end.
Delayed start to the 2nd half. Out of interest do daffodil petals normally fall from above the stage. A few odd petals fell down during the show but nothing of note.
Quite a few empty seats despite it being sold out.

We saw this just before Christmas and it will be one of our hilights of the year. We sat in row M adjacent to the main walkway area. Initially I thought we would struggle with sight lines but with the clever way they have angled the seats so always looking upwards we had a fantastic view of everything going on. Loved the free mince pies and the being snowed upon. And the wife got the added bonus of Rhys shaking her hand during his "happy" transformation.

Also in Row T yesterday, albeit other side T41-42 with wheelchair space. Aside from not being able to see the balcony left side it's a great view as the rake is very high at the back and I had a completely clear view of the stage. Despite being the back row you still feel close as it isn't the biggest of theatres. Nice to sit in a well padded seat. Access staff were great looking after us. No queuing as we arrived less than 10m before start and were whisked straight in. Aside from bag check no other security check for us other than name confirmation. That said I had confirmed details day before with DMT.
As for the show, really enjoyed it. Was worried I would hate is as not a rap fan. I didn't tell my wife in advance that she was about to sit through 2 3/4hrs of rap music as she would probably have refused to go. Amazingly she enjoyed it more than me. At times I couldn't understand a word that was being said as so fast but I guess over time I got into the groove. 2nd half much easier to follow asseems to go at a much slower pace.
Now I just need to decide whether to go again in February when I also have stalls tickets. Maybe a bit much for the 92 year old mother despite her love of history.

Given that this is one of the biggest annual Christmas shows in this country curious to see whether any forumites ever go to see it. I live about 2 miles from the venue which is probably about the most hidden away theatre place in the country.

I've just returned 2 stalls seats for matinee 2nd November as unwell. Helpful box office as sold me 2 new seats for the NT Live matinee giving me discount on 2nd seat as now taking someone over 60 - so ended up with a credit. I probably sounded so terrible on the phone he naturally assumed I must be in my 80s!

Remaining dates seem to be virtually sold out aside from side benches. Bit of a shame (but pleased for show) as I had planned to take couple of singers on their night off from UK tour but now looks unlikely unless some returns pop up. The Like a Rolling Stone advert out yesterday excites me even more re album.

Pleased you got a ticket and enjoyed the outdoors and experienced the magic of that special venue. Sorry you had a stoppage, but that is one thing I love about this theatre and that is that how random performances can be, for instance you could have a helicopter fly low over, which I had on Tueasday or a skein of geese overhead, or when the sun goes down bats flying around the stage. Did you go with your wife? If so did your wife manage the seating okay? I reckon out of any venue in London, this theatre earn the most money on foods and drinks? This was me on my own as we tend to live up in North Norfolk July to December so I get my fix mid-week when working in London. I had a look round for wheelchair space but couldn't spot it. I expect for now the drive time from south London for a matinee would be too prohibitive for my wife. Shame as I'm sure she would love the setting. i think high % of audience appreciated technical break given the numbers who made a dash for the loos.
