Looks like the first cover Adele (Laura Baldwin's stepsister) is on tonight. Things are going well in Belleville then ...

I've listened to it in the background as I've been doing stuff, and after the first listen which was a bit overwhelming I've found loads of bits I catch myself humming along with. There's some really catchy stuff on there. I didn't like it at first because I thought it was a funny mix of pop and orchestral (and a few very baroque-sounding bits) but I think it's clicked now. I'd be keen to see it in future. There might be good reason it isn't, but to me, Far Too Late still sounds like it could/should be a duet, with them on opposite sides of the stage — him getting dressed for his wedding, and her doing I don't know what. You'd barely need to change the lyrics (just don't have him singing the "someone else's arms", a lot of the sentiment fits him just as well as her). She sings the first bit, then he does the second, and then a final verse together. He could even walk off/be blacked out and she does the same ending. I just feel like it's missing a "big" duet. Absolutely YES to this! I really want a Cinderella/Sebastian duet of the quiet, pining variety (I was thinking If I Told You from The Wedding Singer). I hadn’t thought of tweaking Far Too Late for it, that would be perfect.

I'm listening to the full recording for the first time today (after having seen the show on the first preview and then this Thursday) and picking up on bits of lyrics that I hadn't caught properly live. I'm actually really enjoying it, and wishing that the sea witch song hadn't been cut. If it's a timing issue, I don't know about anyone else but I'd take the sea witch over the extended latin dance wedding party, to me it makes a much better 11 o'clock number and gives us more reason to care that Prince Charming has just appeared out of nowhere. I do agree that the songs that have been released are the "best" ones there, but there are a few others that I really like. So Long is great, even with all the dodgy lyrics - imo, it feels like the sort of nonsense my oldest friend and I might spout at each other. I really like Unbreakable too, it's a shame only half of it made it to even the first preview.
I gave the show three stars after the first preview, but I'm upgrading it to four now. It's far from perfect, and I hope they still manage to make some things clearer in the time they have before the show is frozen, but it's a lot of fun for what it is, the performances are great, and some of the songs are irritatingly catchy.

Thanks, if it's just starting there then that's fine. It's when it's in my line of vision that it becomes an issue.

We’ve been moved for the matinee from row e to row f and over the other side, so we are happy with that
I've been moved from G on the aisle to N a few seats in (which seems to be one of a block of four in every date that's been put up so far but other bubbles move around so I guess that one's changing for Saturday). Definitely not my preference, particularly since being too far under the overhang also causes me sensory issues and from pics it looks like N is probably about my limit, but I'm just glad I still have a seat. I'll manage ... I hope.
Edit: Just looking through more photos, maybe I've just seen some taken from a dodgy angle and the overhang isn't an issue by row N at all. The Palladium isn't a theatre I've been to very often.

For those who’ve heard recently were you due to go to the matinee or evening? I’m still waiting on the evening and it’s killing me.
Matinee for me.

I've heard too! I've been moved back a few rows and three seats in from the aisle I had originally, but my issue is sensory overwhelm being surrounded rather than physical, so I can manage just having one or two people between me and the aisle.
I'm sorry yours isn't suitable alece10, I hope they can sort something out for you!

I wasn’t convinced about this but having watched that video I’m feeling really positive. I’m on the grass bank for the first preview and really looking forward to it.

Where are people seeing tickets for the 12/13/14th on sale? When I go through the tickets link on the official production site there's nothing listed all for the week.
I'm also waiting for the 17th ...

Sounds like they have four swings on as well as Michael as Sebastian - possibly last minute rehearsals since it's still in previews and things presumably change every day?

BBC's report on the tour was that it stated they performed virtually up until their recent rehearsals. I wonder how true this was, I can only see them getting slicker with time. They started rehearsals in person at the end of May so they had about three weeks together before starting in Plymouth this week.

There’s a LOT of innuendo, as well as characters calling each other such things as Pr**k and bitch. It’s clearly not meant as a particularly children friendly show, but I’m not sure the marketing has emphasised that enough.

I’ve just had a thought - did I zone out and miss it or did we not have the sea witch song that was mentioned in one of the videos a while ago?

I was in the middle of row M - perfect view, would highly recommend. It meant that when the front half rotated round, I was five rows from the stage and felt like I was at the ball too as the two entrances to the stalls are used as the stage entrance/exit for that section. Aside from a few lines sounding a little quiet in act one, sound was great from there too.
I’m generally inclined to agree with ceebee. I enjoyed it, I didn’t love it yet but I do think that with some tightening up I could. The bare bones of a good show are there - the book needs some work, there are a lot of reprises with pretty much the same lyrics as the first time that could do with being a bit more different, and there are a couple of characters who only appear for 10-15 mins that I think could do with being more integrated somehow. It was very slick for being the first time they’ve run the whole show through, I spotted two very minor mishaps but that was all.
I still clapped and grinned excitedly when the house lights went down though, and teared up at the end. I won’t be paying £100 for another ticket but I’d happily go on a cheaper one later in the run, and will probably try to catch Georgina as Cinderella at some point.

Fingers crossed we don't have too many issues - my last train home is 11:30 from Euston so if it runs to four hours I'll need to leave! I'm also very excited to be at the first preview of a brand new show. I've been at several first previews of US transfers, but the only other time I've been at a new one was part two of Cursed Child (having picked up the ticket from someone on here who was at part one but then couldn't make part two).

I think so. I sometimes watch Carrie's vlogs and she's been saying that she can't show much of the rehearsals now they're in costume. Who do we think the man in leather straps (? no idea what they're called) is?
He looks a lot like Caleb Roberts (playing Prince Charming) to me. Interesting costume choice there.

I was looking through all the info on the site yesterday and it clearly says that the person booking the tickets must attend.

Oh look, another show that I fully expect to be booted out of since I'm on my own. I paid £100 for a good seat intentionally for being at the first performance of a brand new show where we don't know what to expect, I'm not willing to pay that much to be booted later in the run so they'd better be willing to let me have a refund and rebook a cheaper seat.

I'm glad they're able to open with social distancing to start with, but I'll be gutted if I get kicked out of Linzi's first show as a single person booking. It's the only one of her dates that I know for sure I can make atm. Fingers very tightly crossed!
Hopefully they'll start off by offering refund/exchange for anyone who from the first few weeks who wants to move and then see where that leaves them, rather than just automatically removing people first.

Also had the same email for both Joseph and Cinderella. I'd be happy to let my first preview ticket (in the middle of a row) go and keep my aisle seat for July 17th mat (theoretically Linzi's first).

It might have taken five months and four rescheduled tickets, but I finally got there. And honestly it was worth the wait to have the current cast rather than Ball and Boe.
I’m still not sure how I feel about Bradley’s act one madness, but it certainly made a contrast with him playing it straight when he joins the students and his soliloquy was excellent.
I know some of the purists might not like Shan’s take on Eponine (and honestly, I used to be one of them but I’ve got over it in my old age). She has so little to judge in act one, but I really liked her On My Own. From the BBC performance I wasn’t sure how she and Lucie were going to present within the concert itself but IMO both their performances were a perfect mix of some more modern touches but still meshing well with the rest of the cast. Several of the principles are actors who have a history in more modern shows rather than just people who do Les Mis and Phantom, and honestly I am here for it!
I may now be stalking the website to see if I can pick up a front stalls seat at some point.

I’m here! I have a champion rustler behind me but right now I Do. Not. Care.
Lucie is amazing! I would go and see Jon or Jamie in anything and probably enjoy it. Bradley’s madness is taking some getting used to but there’s no denying he’s a whole lot more to my taste than Michael for Javert.

I think we have a tentative plan! We live not too far from the M1, so my husband has offered to drive to Stanmore to get on the tube and come into London with me. He might take the second Les Mis ticket if he feels like it or might just go for a wander.
Now I'm just waiting for something else to come up as a reason why that plan won't work ...

A friend of mine is taking the seat for tonight. I've managed to get a pair at £47.50 each for tomorrow mat so same price overall, but that still relies on the trains being up and running again and them letting me on since most journeys before show time are already listed as sold out. Can megabus be your friend?
Unfortunately not, there's only one pick up point anywhere near me and the only journey it's offering at all for tomorrow is one at 3:55 am! Thanks for the suggestion though.

Anyone potentially interested in a single ticket for tonight? I’m supposed to be there for my first show this year but stranded at Rugby station with no trains, looking like I’m losing my first theatre trip and £100 of birthday money in one fell swoop. Gutted doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Oh good, at least they've put the cast absences up now. Looks like I'll miss Jamie for what would have been my first performance in the first week of June, but I caved and bought a single in the dress for next Friday because I can't wait that long.
