Perhaps Imelda has 'the gift'? At mugging? Certainly not the gift of subtlety.

Some, but not all, of the original cast are still involved. Source? Are you secretly Sally Ann Triplett? She isn't involved.

Witches was workshopping again last week. Oh that’s so cool!! How do you know this, do you know who’s involved? Some, but not all, of the original cast are still involved.

It would have been right up Kit Hesketh-Harvey's alley.

Balancng sound in such circumstances can be tricky, but un-muting mics in time shouldn't be that hard in a concert setting. Seems they had a very novice sound designer/ op.
These producers are taking their audiences for suckers.

Sally Ann Triplett is not continuing with the show after this run.
I think Daniel Rigby is unlikely to return.

There are always 2 children present for each main role. Last week a Bruno had to be switched mid-show due to illness. Where an adult might choose to struggle through, there is no way a child will be shoved onstage if they are unwell!

My friend saw the cover for Sally Ann Triplett on New Year's Day (eve) and said they were brilliant! Not sure who the cover is :-) She was terrific. You’d never know she was a cover / understudy, as always really… but she was fantastic. Daniele Coombe- with a totally different characterisation. West End credits going back to Sunset Boulevard, Oliver! and Acorn Antiques.

I think the less Miranda sings the better - her character is meant to be aloof and above it all....not a personality that lends itself to a showtune....a song at the end when her character unravels a bit would be perfect. She needs a wip-smart, witty patter song that deconstructs the fashion world.

I think this is what happens when you stage a big musical on a huge stage, and use a director who’s never done a musical before. It’s so foolish. I'm sure you've heard the same stories I have, that focus around an inexperienced director of shows on this scale. The cast are suffering for it.

I think a lot of theatre goers miss the point Shows can be mediocre Like anything in life Clothes, food, relationships, government As people tolerate it And there are limited or finite other options So expectations are lowered Excuses made Standards drops over time The perpetrators get away with it Can’t believe their luck Any morals are sidelined for pound signs And So the cycle goes on Once you have been you have paid and suffered I think it's unfair to suggest the cast and creative team have been lazy and not trying for the highest standards. Unfortunately, the magic hasn't happened entirely but not for want of effort.

The reviews were always going to be begrudging.
Look at the money onstage. There is no way this show won't transfer!

I saw the final performance and was generally disappointed. 'King Lear' is my favourite tragedy and I have seen a fair few- this one was just nondescript.
I love Hunter- her Mother Courage is one of my favourite theatre memories- but I felt she lacked a fifth gear vocally. Maybe she is recovering from illness, but she never seemed to be engulfed in rage- annoyance, peevishness, irritation but never in the extremity of feeling that drives Lear to such rash action.
Although I have enjoyed other Terry performances, again, I found nothing illuminating in Cordelia/ Fool. Most crucially I didn't see any point in the double casting as presented in this production (I have seen it used effectively elsewhere). It was just like she fancied both roles so played them both. But there was no purpose.
I was not fond of Edmund either- a lot of the playing with the crowd was panto-level breaking of the 4th wall. Again, what was the point? No justification was achieved for his wrong-doing by him being a clown on the surface.
And I also think the design was muddled- like the cast was just told to go into wardrobe and find anything they fancied.
Stodgy, mediocre regional rep-level show. Not what I hope for from such a venue.

They turned this into a musical? Really?? I have no interest in seeing cash-ins like this. The subject instantly tells me that the writer is only interested in making money and has no imagination. Hahahaha. Cinderella.

...both Summer Strallen and Bebe (her cousin who works front of house,) defend ALW in the video and blame the company exclusive, separating ALW and RUG. I mean, I don't know how these things work, but surely ALW has the "power" to do things differently? Only thing I would say, is that in the video, this Bebe lady says that it was the front of house and box office staff who noticed something is wrong as tickets had been removed from sale and that it was due to them questioning the situation that they were told... so I guess it's somewhat feasible that maybe they were hoping to wait until Tuesday to announce, but their hands were forced because of their own incompetence? Her cousin also made the point that it seemed like there was rumors circulating yesterday and that this was a leak that went viral that they tried to get a handle on. Also I appreciated that they didn't lay all of this on ALW. I doubt highly he's involved in every aspect of these things, particularly when it comes to day to day operations. It's just easier for people to criticize him than some random unknown executive at RUG With something as important as this closure, that needs to be handled with tact, professionalism and delicacy, you'd think the boss would be closely involved. ALW is not a hands-off kind of guy!

It seems pretty clear she is not cut out to be an actor. Sheila Hancock managed not to become a cannibal after playing Mrs Lovett, and Diana Rigg didn't start murdering children ater her stint in 'Medea'. I hear Elaine Paige never took to scent-marking the furniture after her run in 'Cats'.

Joanna Riding was a revelation in this, and I’m not just talking about her abs. I feel the show was massively underrated but sadly opening it at Drury Lane sunk it. It just wasn’t a big enough show to fill that theatre. It was a much tighter show at the Prince of Wales but sadly as they rushed it in there, it looked cheap as chips. I remember there was a rumour at the time (probably apocryphal!) that it was penciled in for the Prince Edward but the 'filler show' that took the theatre in 1999 did slightly better than expected and so Witches moved to Drury Lane! I believe this was true.

Still a silly claim.
