Wow! I was not prepared for what I witnessed last night.
With a dazzling smile, this petite woman put on one of the most dynamic concerts I have seen in a long time, seamlessly crossing from modern pop to musical theatre songs.
The first I became aware of this woman was through the film The Prom, then the West Side Story re-make. It was only after that that I learnt that she was in the original Ensemble of Hamilton.
And she can really sing! Macarthur Park and the mash up of Poor Unfortunate Souls/The Ladies Who Lunch, personal highlights.
Chuck in a bit of Madonna's Vouge and Ray of Light, The Carpenters Close To You and ABBA's Waterloo and you've got an eclectic mix of songs that you're ever gonna get.
The Palladium was full. Lots of theatre lovies in the audience. At one point in the intermission Christian Bianco was standing in the row behind me.
She made everything- the singing and the vocal range, the choreography all look effortless!
I seriously underestimated her.
alec 10 if you had no ides where Poor Unfortunate Souks came from, why didn't you just ask me? I was sitting just next to you!

I've never actually ever seen this, only the Sarah Brightman version on VHS, many years ago.

Yes I must admit my refund too was easily processed.
I love in London and at the time I had the day off work and booked my ticket through the box office.
It's my favourite musical and I had even booked a full priced ticket.
It simply meant that I had to go back down there again to present the original card used in order to process the refund.

I was listening to one or two of the songs on Spotify last night. His voice does sound particularly strong on "How Do I Call This Home".

Look, it's never gonna reach the heights of success that Les Miserables or The Phantom of the Opera ever did but I think this will ride the wave and survive the negative criticism thrown at it.

Although I don't know you personally, I am (truly) sorry for your loss.
Welcome back!
To quote both Jason Robert Brown and Stephen Sondheim, you're "covered with scars you've done nothing to earn" and because you have no choice , you must "move on".
There are no rules on grieving- how long for but, as harsh as it seems, you have to move on, only with memories and although it may not seem it right now because the wound is still raw, every day that passes will, in it's own little way, get easier.

Yes, very sad.
I was at a concert at The Palladium last night and heard when I got home.
(I believe) he had a legion of fans- both as himself and as Lily Savage.
He is a talent that will be missed.
RIP

Its continued success makes it seen like this show will never die!
Despite have that statement nay read, that's not a criticism- anything that gonna get a younger audience in- male or female- I'm all for.
I'm sure it's outplayed its original run in the States.
If memory serves me correctly, wasn't there about three productions playing? The one at the Other Palace, one at Theatre Royal, Haymarket and a touring production.
I'm sure it's exceeded all expectations

Maybe they’re screening it for a future DVD/Blu-Ray release?
It was previously released on VHS.
I have the Bernadette Peters cast recording on CD.

I saw this last nigh snd gotta admit, I enjoyed this more than I anticipated.
F**k me I LOVE ABBA!
Firstly, not quit a full house so plenty of room to spread. The people to my left never turned up and the people to my right last half way the second Act.
I was a lilt apprehensive because (don't everyone hate on me) I'm not a fan of drag! I ubdtersand it's an ever increasing art form in popular culture, but it's just not for me.
I thought the two male leads were both very confident and brave.
Although I recognised the voice of the never-seen Grandmother, I didn't associate it with Miriam Margolyes
One of the things that I did pick up on was the accents.
Personally, I thought that Andrew Horton was the weakest cast member on stage last night.
I am unsure who played Mrs. C but whoever she was, she was brilliant
mkb states For a show obsessing over Abba, there's precious little of their music. We are treated to snatches as the set awkwardly and slowly revolves between scenes, but the soundtrack is cut just as the first notes of the hook are heard. It's a two-hour p***k-tease for Abba fans.
There's a reason for this. Mark Gatiss was on the Sunday Brunch program where he explained that ABBA are very protective of their music and how it is used. By playing only a snippet, you're not playing a whole song thus not in breach of any licensing laws.
Not the best thing I've ever seen; not the worst, but fun.
Audience were quite receptive last night and laughed a lot.

You know, even if it is all rubbish, it's not the first time that I have heard Josh Gad's name associated with this so (possibly) there maybe one thread of truth in it?

One of the tings that I loved about the film was the female characters -Anne Hathaway getting blonder and blonder- especially Linda Cardellini playing Cassie, playing Ennis Del Mar's adult daughter and trying to understand her father.

We’ll have “Sweeney” (by many considered his best), “Merrily” (his biggest flop) and this, his newest and last all playing at the same time. A fascinating trio of shows playing together. I guess it's a matter of opinion but for me- as brilliant as Sweeney is (and it really is) Sunday is a work of art (no pun intended) and is completely in a league of its own.

It does look stunning, which is exciting!
So we've caught glimpses of all of the major characters- Ariei, Prince Eric, King Triton, Ursula, Flounder, Sebastian and Scuttle.
Let's see some of the minor characters- Flotsham, Jetsom, Chef Louis, Grimsby and Vanessa (Ursula in human form).
Lets also see if Prince Eric'ssheepdoghas made the journey from animation to the new film.

Apparently shown tonight at the Oscars, a proper look at Ursula on Tik Tok- some dialogue and neon tentacils
From the look of it, it would appear to be when Ursula is convincing Ariel to hand over her voice
