Whatever happens I think this may be the last time for a while she has a west end role. Once you get known as unreliable you tend not work.

Do they announce a switch to the audience or just hope people wouldn't notice.

I think I am going to book for this soon. Cheapest seats in the Upper Circle so not expecting a very good view but its the singing that counts more in this show anyway.

Ouch. At this rate the show still wont be running in June. If it closes erly I will find it hard to be able to rebook especially as there aint huge numbers of middle price seats

I wonder how many refunds requests the producers will get from people wanting to cancel believing she will be crap or not perform that show.

Dad just booked for this. Gone for the top seats in the Dress circle. Cant wait for the cast. I wonder if they will be alternates as there is 10-12 performances a week. I cant imagine truly big names doing that many shows. They manage it on all other Qdos shows...? True but some of the names mentioned seem way to big. As a side I noticed the only celebrity followed by the official account is Biggins. While Jullian Clary and Joe Tracini( Joe Pasquale son) are following the account

I cant imagine truly big names doing that many shows. If French and Saunders are being considered for the Ugly Sisters will the step Mum be the drag character. Biggins could do that.

True..but I think everyone there is so capable of either fixing it or going on without this element. There are so many things happening on in these shows that go barely unnoticed. I am sure if a certain light is out the show can still go on. It has to be REALLY bad for them to cancel it altogether. Keep in mind that these shows are alive for the sake of making money. A cancelation is a huge loss to the bottom line. The cost to the prducers of a single cancelled perofrmane must be quite significant given how slim margins are in theatre. With all the premium seats etc I reckon it could be 75k+, taking into account bar sales etc? It would surely be a last resort and I don't think the moving travelators would be enough to cancel a performance completely And cast problems even less so because the majority once they arrive probably wouldn't go for a refund if an understudy took over.

Or even when the show stopped after 15 minutes put the understudy on then announce she cant continue due to ill health.

Presumberly if it was just Sheridian being erratic they could announce she cant continue due to ill health and get the understudy to finish off

It must be a technical issues or major cast absences. If Sheridan was just absent then I think Natasha is still In the cast and many wouldn't go for a exchange.

I should also mention, as I know people ask, the stage is high. From the front row, the smallest cast member (which ironically is Sheridan) when she is at the back of the stage, can only be seen from the waste up. And I am close to 6ft tall so if I could only see from the waist up I don't know what others thought. But I found it totally worth it to be that close to the show and her in the performance, it makes it feel incredibly intimate. Thanks for mentioning. I think that's where me and my mum will sit there doesn't appear to be many seats on offer in July. At least with Day seating you stand a chance.

I do hope it returns to London. I cant remember much of the show plus because of the seats we were in we didn't really see her fly.

Once I fell comfortable to go shows on my own Ill go and see this. Do you mind me asking which aspect of seeing a show on your own makes you feel a bit uncomfortable? As I'd sincerely like to encourage you to give solo theatre trips a go! There was a thread on the matter (can't remember whether it was the old board or this board) where many, many posters said how they frequently went to shows on their own - as do I!! It can really be such a relaxing, fun experience and I've never had a bad time seeing a show on my own. No waiting to find out if a friend can make the date you want to, no discussions about who can afford what, no back-and-forth about where everyone prefers to sit and no sat there worrying whether the person you're with is enjoying it or not!! More often than not you might also end up having a nice conversation with someone next to you - or if you don't fancy that, have a drink or ice-cream in the interval and have a nice read of the programme and I'm sure no one will even bat an eye lid! I hope you feel comfortable enough to give it a go very soon, I (and others on this board I'm sure) cannot recommend it enough and I look forward to hopefully hearing about your experience soon!! Its just dealing with the tickets and making sure I don't lose anything.

Isn't any acting performance eligible officially even a take over in a role. As Mel C got nominated for Blood Brothers. I imagine therefore Beverly Knight would be even if the Bodyguard is not.

The adverts clearly state Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard and the ENO have priced it accordingly, if they charged £67.50 top price and the understudy has to come on, then people haven't got much to complain about, except give a sigh. Conversely if people paid a lot of money and then Glenn got terrible reviews, then that is tough. For the record I have seen Sunset Boulevard with Glenn Close and didn't pay the top price, but feel for people who have and wanted to see Glenn, with travel, accommodation and food people may easily paid over a £1000 to see this. What about if you hire a car and you pay a lot of money for a Mercedes for example and you get to to customer service desk and they say "we only have Fiat Punto left", which is about 20% of the Mercedes price you stumped up, then for the agent says to say you, you haven't got a leg to stand on because in the T&C it say 'or similar'? I have seen a theatre make alternative arrangements (cannot confirm if it was a refund or exchange) when I passed it, when the star was out, this was Joseph at the Adelphi with Lee Mead. So it does happen. What if you bought your ticket from the box office, where you haven't physically agreed T&C. The Lee Mead example is the only time I've ever known it to happen - they offered refund or exchange in that case if memory serves. I think they were offering exchanges when Connie Fisher dropped from 8 to 6 shows a week but warned it be a long while till you can rearrange.

Aofie Mullholand was very good as Maria. Tanya Mattalang was superb as Kim. On the topic of understudies when I went to see the sound of Music the Baroness was off( as was Margret Peace in the Sound of Music) and her understudy was on. 4 years later the understudy then was the main Aunt Em in the wizard of Oz but was then off( and replaced by the second understudy) when I went to that.

I always buy a programme. I have only ever watched a paid performance once and not brought one and that was a dance school performance where the ticket holders only arrived just on time and they were none left at the end.

The Upper was open for Miss Saigon at Christmas I think. I do avoid flops. At the west end I have only seen Lion King (2003) Chitty (2005) Mary Poppins (2006) Sound of Music (2007) Oliver (2009) Wizard of Oz (2011) Jersey Boys (2012) White Christmas (2014) and Miss Saigon this Christmas.

I hope Show Boat lasts till its closing date. Ive never been to a theatre which has had sections closed off I think. Even when I went to Jersey Boys which was fairly empty all here levels were open.
