Just over a week until my Australia adventure - eekk!! Any "must do's" for Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane - we do 3 days in each city, flying between them! Have got a wine tasting trip and Blue Mountains pre-booked but want to be fairly flexible otherwise. Sydney Harbour Bridge climb at sunset - worth the ridiculous price! And a concert in the Opera House as well - don't bother with the behind the scenes tour though, it's rubbish. Pancakes on the rocks for brunch, coastal walk from Bondi Beach and the ferry over to Manly are also good options. In Melbourne do the night market, one of the museum lates if they're on, and spend a day wandering around St Kilda, chilling on the beach and looking for penguins. Also hunt for the graffiti art and AC/DC street. The botanic garden is also lovely, and it's definitely worth doing a day trip out to the Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles. There isn't an awful lot in Adelaide itself, but definitely worth spending a day or two in the beautiful Barossa Valley or the Clare Valley (personally I prefer the Barossa wineries). Already booked on the Barossa Valley wineries tour - hic!! Just my "glass of wine" (not cup of tea)!!

Like tHe CATS German tour in 2012ish - it was a great venue - only problem sometimes you heard some external noise - but as long as it wasn't in the quiet bits it was very good. Saw this in a German Winter and it was also nicely heated!

Totally agreed - my mind was made up after seeing the "sneak performance" on The One Show the other week - awful......

I don't like the rebuild. As I check the site regularly for updates on theatre news, I like to see that easily and have reviews separate. Hate it!!! Where else can we get quick MT news of the day, anyone? Especially now that The Stage only let's you browse for a short time without paying! Suggestions?

Not bad today. Scored myself a ticket for Opening Night of Wizard of Oz here in Adelaide. I already had a ticket for the previous night. I'm so far out of the theatre loop that I didn't even know that members of the general public could attend Opening Nights - I stupidly thought that Opening Nights were only attended by celebrities and the like, but once I discovered my error, I got straight on and booked my seat. Can't wait to walk the yellow brick carpet. Just paid my deposit on an Australian adventure from mid-October including 4 nights in Adelaide (and Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth)....

Probably the same reason the group of oldies bow after the ensemble. One guy played the piano at the party, one hit Pat Denning, that was about the extent of their roles! Blink and you'll miss it. fun fact that I realised last time I saw the show, the understudy for guy playing the piano is in fact the assistant MD And he doesn't pretend - actually plays the piano on stage - I asked him and he was very pleased that I had noticed!

Just about to investigate and book an Australia trip for Autumn. Looking to do Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth - a belated "retirement" tour for me and hubby. Want to include at least one train journey (did a Rail Discoveries European tour last year and it was fabulous). Boot really interested in going to Alice Springs or Ayres Rock. Any insider tips/suggestions very welcome! Couple of tips: Everyone calls it Uluru rather than Ayers Rock - it's the Aboriginal name for it and therefore respectful to use it given it's a sacred place for them. Make sure you do a sunset viewing, and get up early to watch the sun rise over Kata Tjuta (also worth visiting). Alice Springs doesn't really have much in it (and that's coming from relatives who live there!) - the wildlife park is ok, but only requires a couple of hours. Otherwise it's only really necessary to go as the starting point for the drive out to Uluru. The Outback is great, but take lots of bug spray and fly nets (you can get them in Alice Springs) - you might think they look ridiculous and are over-cautious, but they are really, really necessary, especially if you decide to go further through the Outback to Coober Pedy (which is worth a visit) and then on towards Adelaide (you'll finally escape the flies when you hit the Flinders Ranges). Thanks for that - will bear it all in mind

Want to include at least one train journey (did a Rail Discoveries European tour last year and it was fabulous). Boot really interested in going to Alice Springs or Ayres Rock. Any insider tips/suggestions very welcome! Have a look at a trip on either the Indian Pacific ( Sydney to Perth via Adelaide - 4 days) or The Ghan (Adelaide to Darwin via Alice Springs & Katherine -4 days,or Adelaide to Alice Springs overnight} Neither trip is exactly cheap but they are all inclusive . From Alice Springs you can get a transfer to Ayers Rock ( the town is still called Ayers Rock) ,where there is a resort with a range of accommodation and access to trips to to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. While you are in Sydney, you can take a day trip to the Hawkesbury River . Not an epic train voyage (about an hour from Sydney Central) but some beautiful scenery along the way, and then join the river postal service for a cruise up the river. It is quite beautiful and feels very remote. www.riverboatpostman.com.au/Thanks - sounds great!

Very lucky to be alive and not in hospital tonight. Was almost caught up in an accident on the M5 this afternoon when a lorry (after colliding with a car?) swerved out in front of us then back into its lane before overturning in our direction. Luckily managed to make it past but it definitely makes you realise how dangerous roads can be and how easily we could have all died/ended up in hospital. Hope the people involved in the crash are all still alive. This is my car after my drive down the M1 today - van pulled out into my lane after a lorry driver pulled out into his. Nobody hurt thankfully, but it does spell an early end to my attempt at dry January Wow - and that's with fairly decent weather - hope you are settling down now - a very scary experience (for both M5 and M1 members) - best wishes to you both

Absolutely brilliant movie, film of the year for me, you'd have to be dead inside not to enjoy this, we need films like this now more than ever, so what if it's not historically accurate, we need escapism !! Thank you spendleb Fabulous film - knocked spots off Lala land which I really didn't like at all. The dance numbers were long enough to get going and the mixture of modern songs with that era really worked somehow. And it had a story!!!

8pm start remember - they are at Palladium first! thanks - luckily TodayTix is up to date on that, though I had no idea why it was a later start! I wonder will lots of people still turn up expecting 7.30? They are doing Royal Variety first then running to Theatre Royal I would guess!

Oh thats interesting, the show is pushing both Clare and Sheena as leads for the Whatsonstage.com Awards. So they may be pushing the Oliviers in that direction too? Extended until December 2018 now!!

I really think Stuart has the hardest role in the entire show. He does everything the leads do, as well as the ensemble from start to finish. Its quite remarkable. I agree with Ryan, wouldn't be mad if he nabbed a nomination, it would be totally deserved! Cast recording today - Norman Bowman's Instagram!!
