I am so hooked on the Olympics ( and I not a sporty person at all ! ) I get caught up in the excitement of all the events with a Brit in and it brings back so many happy happy memories of London 2012.

Thinking more about the bookings thing, really, it's just giving all those born after around 1990 a taste of how it used to be in the West End. Remember when you waited a year or more for "Cats," "Miz," "Phantom" and "Saigon?" The only difference was that they took longer to sell out because there were only a few phone lines and staff to process postal* bookings. Given the pace of life at the time, though, they still sold out very fast for years ahead, and you were lucky to get anything at all. Most people didn't. The more things change, the more they stay the same, I guess. *Postal Booking: You took a piece of paper, wrote with a pen your name and address at the top, and asked the box office to send you some tickets from one of a list of dates you had written. You added a cheque (another bit of paper that says your bank will pay the person named on it) left "open" to a maximum amount, added another envelope and stamp (bit of paper you stick on an envelope to pay the postal service - people who carry your letter to the theatre) with your name and address so they could send tickets back to you. And then you put it in the pillar-box (red tube shaped thing in the street, postal service collects letters from it) and waited. ...and waited and waited and waited....

Not that this helps the discussion, nor does it interest everyone, but I was at queue number 75 at 00.40am as they sold out! After 14.5 hours queuing! Gutted! It started at nearly 100000, and down to 75! (I realise I'm not alone!) Oh how annoying, mind you if it's any consolation imagine how the person who was number 1 in the queue when it sold our feels....

I'd probably think the Wyndham's after No Man's Land, keep in mind they don't have to transfer straight away. I'm thinking it'll be either Ross or JCSS for the Phoenix Yeah I too thought Wyndhams would be a good choice. I do hope it transfers, it would do well I think in the West End Yes I agree totally it deserves another run and being selfish I want to see it again !
I'm still keeping everything crossed for Ross going into the Phoenix.....

Is anyone else going along to the David Bowie Prom tonight ?
Promises to be a great evening and a fitting tribute to THE man also excited about seeing Anna Calvi and Neil Hannon amongst others perform his songs.

I watched it and loved seeng how it was all put together. The scale of it was incredible, and getting an insight into the organisation was fascinating. I was there on Super Saturday but not in the athletics stadium unfortunately. Even so it was brilliant to feel part of it in some way. I suppose the "Britain is a load of crap" crowd from the Brexit thread would disagree. I'm looking forward to the Rio opening ceremony. Yes it only seems like yesterday- there was a tremendous feeling of pride in how we organised the games let only how well we did at the various sports, it certainly proved all the nay-sayers wrong !

I had no idea of the horrendous events in Nice last night until I read my newspaper this morning.
Having stayed in or around Nice several times it seems all the more pertinent. Shocked and disgusted don't come into it.
My heart and sympathy and most important my love goes out to the people of Nice.

Saw this yesterday afternoon and thought it was excellent ( mind you anything by Terence Rattigan has a head start in my book ! ) I thought the cast were all excellent in their parts and Helen McCrory you felt for her so much !
I agree with Jonnyboy above the scene with the shilling was oh so powerful !!!
If you get the chance please do see it either at the NT of when it's screened.

Les Mis are tweeting that they are performing the finale at the tribute event for Jo Cox at 4pm today in Trafalgar Square. Yes some lovely tributes are happening today on what would have been Jo's 42nd birthday.

It's not the sitting surrounded by tourists thing though, it's the whole atmosphere of the St Martin's Theatre... It's just perfect for this play, and seems like a little museum itself. Couldn't agree more ! I went 3 years ago and the play was O K but seeing the St Martins Theatre from the inside was the real highlight.
