Ive wondered that too - everything that was so right about the Lyceum production was changed for the tour. Still, this is great news for Regents park, must try and get there this year.

I'm around 6' 6" and found the legroom fairly tight in the front stalls so personally wouldn't want to try the restricted legroom seats if the normal seats are as close together as they are.

Surely if this is going to stand any chance at all in an arena it will need to be insanely spectacular. But of course nobody will know this until it begins. So add me to the list of those that think it wont get as far as opening.

It was completely cheese-tastic, I remember that!
I remember Nicola Dawn as one of "The Unconventionals" on an early series of X factor, assuming it was the same person.

Have booked to go back! This time from the circle rather than front stalls and with my wife and in laws. Looking forward to seeing it from a different perspective.

The Prince Edward and Prince of Wales have great seats and I have a fondness for the Harold Pinter. With the Prince Of Wales in particular you can see where the money has been spent -excellent level of comfort and legroom. At 6'6" I can appreciate that seating is going to be a little tight but I resent spending hours in pain at the current prices. There is no point booking most upper circle / balcony seats so that generally means top price is the only viable option. Very grateful that Sheffield Crucible and the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds are two of my locals- excellent sight lines, good legroom. Forgot the stalls at the Duchess - the seat was so low I thought about booking a chiropractor for the interval!

The end of Row Q in the stalls at the Palace, row C of the stalls at the Cambridge and rear stalls at the Aldwych. No complaints about the view but legroom so poor I feared I wouldn't even be able to sit down. I expect some restriction but these times the tight space really impacted on my enjoyment.

My brother managed to get the line "you need someone older and wiser telling you what to do" from SOM into his vows. That might not be the safest path!

Thank you Daniel, i booked through RSC. At the moment the performance is not sold out, but maybe I should bide my time and see what happens. Sadly i am not local but it just so happens that I am in London next weekend so I shall pop in and speak to them.

Advice needed - does anyone know what policy the Cambridge theatre has on taking returns? I have two tickets for a Weds matinee in the Easter holiday which i can no longer use. I know there is a no refund policy, but as someone who has previously bought return tickets, they must come from somewhere! Just wondered if anyone knew if they are likely to be amenable.

Does the Kenwright version still lose a brother at certain points due to cast members doubling up roles? I know when I saw it in Sheffield a few years back every so often I wondered when they were going to explain to Jacob that it wasn't just Joseph they had lost.

Just back from running the gauntlet with a cinema full of children at Sheffield. Have to say I was mostly very impressed, really enjoyed it overall. Would have preferred a better singer than Emma Watson but she played the part well. The only part that really jarred with me was the beasts solo - I too would have preferred "if I can't love her" or at least the song being at that point in the film. But, the additional sequences fitted well and the climatic scenes packed more of an emotional punch than I was expecting. It won't top the animated version, but overall, enough good about it to make it worthwhile.

Must admit, Debbie Gibson in the outfit at the end was a good way to finish the show.
As for fake corpsing, the moment in Hairspray between Wilbur and Edna was hilarious the first time. When it happened when we went back it was distinctly less entertaining. For the same reason I would never go back to One Man Two Guvnors. Loved it when I had no idea what was going to happen - it really needed the element of surprise.

I have to say that I wasn't impressed with Lily when she played Deena. It wasn't that she was bad, it was just the others around her were so much stronger. Some of this needs to be down to the characterisation - obviously Deena isn't meant to be the powerhouse that Effie is, but when she needed to really hold her own, it just wasn't there.

I'm not interested in seeing this, but I can see this selling very well. And given that so many of our venues are cash strapped at the moment, if it gets people through the doors and spending money then that's surely got to be a positive if only on that level.

Loved this - terrific cast, great songs and superbly staged. Really hope this can survive beyond the Crucible. Instant standing ovation from virtually the whole audience. Would say it was about 4/5 full, all ages.

Just booked this for next week. Looks too good to miss, especially as the Crucible is one of my nearest theatres. Looking forward to it! I think it's a very beautiful theatre too. All the geometric white concrete with the huge jewel coloured doors, it looks as fresh and modern as the day it opened. And then you get into the auditorium and sit under a ceiling full of twinkling stars. Fab. You're right - its stunning inside. In fact the regeneration over the years of that end of Sheffield city centre is also beautiful. Also love the fact that the Crucible's thrust stage makes it such an intimate space no matter where you sit. We are very lucky to have this an accessible distance away.

I think as well that its easy to forget that those of us on this board are likely to be the more regular theatre goers and will know about performers or shows that the more casual theatregoer may not. For a lot of people the way into theatre is by seeing someone they know from the telly in it, or in a very familiar show. I also would prefer a non name who can handle the role but that isn't always good for business.

Just booked this for Newcastle - the run ends the day before the Great North Run which means we are going to be in Newcastle anyway. Seems too good an opportunity to miss.

I'll suggest it as my school's next production - might need an edit / complete rewrite to make it suitable for 10 year olds. Mind you, my plans for a production of Starlight Express keep being vetoed on health and safety grounds so wont expect too much success.

Also feel the same. Those memories of the last night with its electric atmosphere are very precious. And whereas I am sure Ria Jones will sing the hell out of the part, I don't want to see anyone else as Norma. Worth every penny.
