"I'm glad you could love me in spite of my pinkeye!" (stolen from Nostalgia Chick) I love Nostalgia Chick- she recently did a lengthy video analyzing the film and its weaknesses... surprisingly not focusing on the acting but the direction- and it was quite interesting. She has another video of the different Phantom films throughout the years as well leading to the ALW adaptation- good stuff.

Sorry guys, I heard it from the girls mum that she has got the lead for Glinda and having read through this post I just wasn't sure if I could reveal who she is Do you know if she's an established musical theatre actress or an up and comer?

Is there any indication (either from the performers themselves or just past patterns) as to how long Rachelle and Eva will be in it after May? Eva tweeted a while ago she'd be in until Dec I think

Well, she is London's longest running Eponine... but I see what you mean by just another actress. She (Carrie) isn't West End's longest running Eponine BTW... she's like fourth or fifth... (I know this is from a while ago- I just read through the thread)

Just wondering- was Light in the Piazza ever rumored to come to London? The concert last night was a harder ticket than Hamilton, and there is something about it- the combination of that classical sounding score and a European setting- that could potentially do really well in London, I think.
Also, unrelated, I know Lippa's "Wild Party" was staged at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival several years ago- was that ever rumored to come to London?

Laura Emmitt has announced she has a scheduled Elphaba show on the 24th March. Is it usual for 2nd U/s to get scheduled shows? Let's hope it's to see about the potential for a lead or s/b job for either tour or London and the execs will be in! I second this- she was so good when I saw her. I wasn't even aware I was seeing an understudy (l never saw Emma, but I did see Dearman a few years ago) I just remmember being so impressed with her.

Carrie tweeted that she tweeted on the day she got the role- the screenshot of it says it was published jan 21st, but she started telling people she has a new job in dec already... isnt weird- saying you have a job before actually getting it?

Its hardly surprising if singers sing. The shame is more don't record things , and when the really good ones don't get preserved for posterity. Its also not undesirable that some of the top singers build themselves a fanbase. The alternative is people who can't sing, or act, from Corrie or the X factor taking roles because they are known and might draw in audiences, or people no one knows taking jobs and not attracting anyone much to see them. ALW spotted the need to build stars with his TV shows, but seemed to lose interest and drifted off into other projects. If some of the best people have created their own momentum, good for them. Like most roles, there are just not any old actor playing them - there are memorable performances, ones soon forgotten, and some best forgotten. Eponine is not only a major role in Les Mis - its the one that got the Tony for a reason - its crucial to the emtional impact of the show. . Its also the one that features most, alongside Valjean, in showcasing Les Mis. Its one they have been very careful casting strong performers for in London - because they have needed people to look good at presentations, anniversary shows, and televised shows, , and needed someone strong for the film. The show seems to know who is very good - thats why the people who have been kept on recently into a second or third year- which is rare - have been, and why it had someone ready when it needed someone to play the film role. Carrie is well up there with the best Eponines - indeed, if you watch the 30th anniversary video its pretty obvious why she was kept on - as they needed someone who could stand up well alongside Frances and the Fantines. I'm sorry- I thought Carrie's acting was bland when I saw her. She has a great belt, but she sung over everyone in ensemble numbers very unpleasently her first year until finally instructed to tone it down.
Being asked to stay an extra contract is real indication of nothing, at least to me, in the WE production- off the top of my head- Liam Tamme was bored by the end of his first contract and it showed big time, yet he stayed for another contract of phoned in performances. And there are plenty of other examples of miscasts.
Frances won that Tony because she made a truly unique (book accurate) character out of Eponine, and deserved it. Few have been able to fill to those shoes, acting wise, I felt Carrie definitly didn't. Someone described as "Cosplaying and shouting" Eponine, and I have to agree.
BUt thats just my opinion- I am not attacking or meaning to offend you in anyway. Carrie just grinds me the wrong way- her whole attitude seems as though she fancies herself superior to everyone. I really can't think of actors who tease so much about having new jobs they can't talk about- its no new thing that actor can't name what their next project, but I can't recall this much teasing- and it's not the first time she's done it.
Sorry, rant over.

Question- was this tour announced to go international? Because I just saw a commercial on Israeli television saying it's coming here in July (starring Jason Donovan) for a week. If it's true (and I guess it is as they are selling tickets) It will be the first Broadway/London/ English speaking international tour to come to Israel I believe as I have yet to see one (I could be wrong) and it's really exciting! means it could open a door to future tours stopping here which is thrilling!

Who didnt mention what? Oh man.. It's nothing. They just leaked our "new" Elphaba and Glinda ] Oh man! Now Im even more bummed i missed it. For what its worth i really dont want carrie as Elphaba... she comes off as so smug, and as if she deserves everything handed to her... Not fond of her acting choices/ acting style either but what do I know

I know this is along shot, but I thought it cant hurt to ask. If this is at all inapropriate, please delete this thread mods Anyway I wasn't signed on the Whatsonstage forum- I used to read it back in 2013 I think and then haven't checked in a while and the next I tried reading it it was locked and the sign up hasn't worked. I was wondering if there is anyway to access it now? I'm guessing most people will be using the same username and passwords for this forum and so will not be inclined to share- I'm wondering maybe someone is? Or if there is another way to access the old forum- it's just that so much information is going to be lost soon and I'm so gutted I couldn't find a way to get in to the older forum. (I posted this on the introduction thread but got no response so I thought to try a new thread) Anyway its nice to finally join you all here

Either way I'm looking forward to joining the conversation- I'm from Israel, occasionally making my way to London for much needed theatre consumption, hoping to maybe join the business myself someday. Hello!
