I've just had a read through this Luke's timeline (who, as was mentioned, didn't even start this)
I think it's very telling how many actors and theatre people are tweeting against her tone (not what she's saying, but her general tone)
I've seen tweets from Scott Alan, Darren Bell, Sabrina Alouche, Christopher Marsh, Mara Wilson and some more.
EDIT- they do not @ her or mention her by name- but are very clearly about what went down.
Her arguement isnt wrong- like at all, poc should be considered for and cast in a spectrum of roles. But the poor kid who dream cast her was so not coming from a racist place- and her tone/style of quote tweeting instead of having an actual conversatio is disgusting. She isn't teaching anyone- she's plain shaming. I can't imagine this is good for her image, and I wonder what this attitude will do to her career in the future.

Where did all the videos go? I deleted my post with the videos, as it was insinuated I was "intimately acquainted with her every move" and I didn't appreciate that. So I deleted my post- so as not to seem like that, I guess, not that it really matters, but whatever you know. (As martello736 said- it literally took a 5 second Youtube search for "Carrie Fletcher stage door" to find it, and I just found the comment funny) Stage door etiquette is an interesting discussion, but I don't feel at ease when it comes to talking about her. Agree with alot of what was said above me though.

They've reuploaded the video, but cut that Trump bit out. Yowza There were other bits removed too..I think the whole Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard, as well as all other "what do you think of XXX" was removed as well. Scandalous! I wonder why/ who prompted it- I imagine it wasn't Patti herself

We do not see these Western attacks being carried out by fundamentalists from any other religion It is always young males affiliated with Islam Not Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist There is a problem That is a fact You know, Ive written this whole thing, but I really feel like this isn't my place to comment in this thread, as I am not from the UK. My heart is breaking for all involved. I'll just say this- I'm a jewish (non religious, but carry the title with pride) woman from Israel, and Jewish extremists also carry out horrific terror attacks- and not just targeting those of other religions, and these are not just isolated cases either. Sometimes in the name of their religion, sometimes in the name of something else. All over the world. I'm sure Jewish and Muslim extremists aren't the only ones either, but I'm not educated enough to make any claims about it. So no it is not just one group of extremists... Take from this what you will.

Is it because we both have fabulous shoes as avatars?! (This thread is tripping and I don't even post here ever) Edit- I don't even know if I should clarify that me and Stiletto Diva are not the same person - what is this place even (jokes aside this thread is hilarious)

Not in a mean way at all- but I would imagine that post could get the actor into trouble- maybe remove his name/role?

To me, I always see the book as more than just the dialogue between songs, kind of like the structure and dramatic arc of the story. Yes- a book is definitely all those things- its essentialy the play over which the music rests. It's been said several times Gypsy is the best book musical of all times- and I kind of agree- it's a fantastic book.

Don't know how it differs by production, but there is some element of "auditioning" for certain bumped up roles. In Felicia Ricci's book she talks about how she was playing the ensemble/understudy Elphaba track in the San Fransisco production, and they wanted to see her for standby of the same SF production but she had to fly all the way out to NYC just to audition for one step higher of the same role in the same production. Ahh Felicia! what a throwback- I took her ST online course a few years ago- she's fab. And her story is really interesting (though I've never read her book- but I've been meaning too)

How old was Alexia when she first played Elphaba? She was young! She would of been 25 when she first became Elphaba, she is the youngest lead Elphaba we has had here, with the youngest in the world being Danna Paola in Mexico, who was just 18 when she lead the production in Mexico! (they shared the roles in Mexico though, so there were three Elphaba's and two Glinda's who alternated throughout the week). Actually gasped- that is YOUNG! good for her!

What a gorgeous thread- as someone who is helplessly confused about what to do with herself- it's so nice reading about how much there actually is to do!
Currently a math/computer science first year student (and hating every second of it), was previously in the army for a couple of years.

Ahh I see- that does make more sense, especially because it makes more sense to have the men cover both the roles (thus less covers= less paychecks, I guess).

No, I knew there were actors who have played both (Ramin and Hugh sprang to my mind too)- I just wasn't aware it was common practice to have Raoul be a stepping stone/ test run for playing the Phantom at some point. Some that I heard in both were terrific in both, and clearly not all actors are one type actors- I just wasn't sure why that would be a producers' mindset- that every actor must first play a completely different role to get a crack at the Phantom.

The last time I remember there was such vehement disapproval of a Phantom was back in 1997 when Simon Bowman got bumped up from playing Raoul to Phantom. Speaking of which, it's interesting that this never happens anymore. There was a long period of time when Raoul was a a stepping stone to Phantom. I didn't know this was a thing- and it's strange to me it ever was- considering how different those roles are, what with vocal range, "type", age etc.

Rachel Bloom could have been a perfect host for the tonys but well. As for the nominations, 100% agree w/ ali973 I was so sure for a second they were going to approach her, it just makes sense- and she would have been so good!

Alex Brightman speaks of his time in Wicked- how long running shows become "machines" and how some actors treat their jobs in those long runners

I assume shady23 is referring to the Broadway.com Backstage VLOG series that can be found on YouTube: - Call Me Madame: Backstage at WICKED with Sheryl Lee Ralph
- Fiyero Time: Backstage at WICKED with Jonah Platt
- Think Pink: Backstage at "Wicked" with Kara Lindsay
- Fly Girl: Backstage at "Wicked" with Lindsay Mendez
Hi, no they were something Wicked Broadway did themselves with Boq and Nessa interviewing, really insightful and definitely worth a listen. Inside Wicked: Origin Stories Have you ever wondered how people on Broadway got to where they are? Or, what the moment was that sparked their desire to be in show biz in the first place? Find out in this 6-episode miniseries dedicated to all things WICKED. Creators Dawn E. Cantwell and Zachary Noah Piser (WICKED Broadway's Nessarose and Boq) explore the origins of members of the WICKED family—both on and offstage. You can listen to them all here; www.buzzsprout.com/63464Oh hey thanks! I've never heard of this Thanks so much

Oh the vlogs- I know those all too well (the Lindsay Mendez ones are extra wonderful) But the idea of podcasts with Bway actors is a fun one- most of the interviews on YT are so awkward..

Wallah is "I swear" in Arabic. So your friends misuse is unintentionally correct in one context or another LOL Sorry this is really off topic- but in Hebrew we use Wallah (derived from Arabic) as in "no way!" or "no sh*t!" or "really?" so thats interesting- I never knew that's what it actually meant in Arabic. Anyway this is an interesting topic to skim through- I just know I've been very unactive for a good while- not sure what the reason is though really, because I do read here from time to time...

Yeah, I think she jokes about it too But hey- it's probably a fun career- being Menzel's understudy. She's not "Menzel's understudy". She very much jokes about doing all of Idina's roles but to suggest she is just the woman that covers her is misguided and inaccurate. She played the role of Elphaba on the US Tour from July 2010 to September 2011, then on Broadway from September 2011 to February 2013, a clear three and a half years after Idina left the show. Jackie is actually the longest running Broadway Elphaba there's been too, Idina's in second. They both starred in Hair, but Idina was Sheila in the 2001 Off-Broadway production and Jackie was in the 2009/10 Broadway revival as assistant dance captain and understudy for Sheila and Jeanie. The only instance in which she has ever actually covered Idina is in If/Then where she stood by to her for the show's year long run, but then Jackie was offered lead on the US Tour of the production and she spent several months playing Elizabeth 8 shows a week. As someone who is a big Jackie Burns fan and has watched every video of her in existence, I can assure you ( ali973 ), her voice is anything but generic. Wow wow wow- I totally didnt mean it in a serious tone- I know she didn't understudy Idina directly in most productions- it was in the same tone that Jackie herself jokes about the subject (like in the video I posted). I thought my tone was pretty clear, considering I said she jokes about it herself, sorry if it wasnt.
