Andy Nyman was also in it I think? Yes, he played Laurence. I thought he was brilliant, his character's building stress was very realistic!

After several months of paying for Netflix and not actually watching anything, I decided it was time to review whether I was getting my money's worth out of it. I ruthlessly trimmed my "To Watch" list, concluding that of the many, many things on there, the only thing I was desperate to see was "Paris is Burning". So I cancelled my subscription, and watched my final content.
On the day the subscription ended, I said to my husband "Sod's law, they'll add a Sondheim film I've never heard of now we've cancelled".
And so it came to pass!
I'd never heard of this though, so thanks - hopefully I'll find a way to buy/rent this through other means... if not, I'll be re-activating my subscription! It sounds very interesting.

If I had the body, I'd love to play Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show.
Ooh can I be Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors too? When the RHS tour ends?

...and the loos are literally at the back of the stage - you have to walk across the set and go through one of the doors the actors use! They take the loos out of use a few minutes before the show starts. I have sometimes seen the last person to emerge from the loos get a round of applause as they walk on stage So perhaps the stage will be flooded after all...!

I've listened to multiple recordings this weekend and I'm fascinated to know what will stay and how it's going to be adapted I may read the script tonight #theatrenerd Have I got a girl will it remain, perhaps sung to the audience - Symbolising the male dominated world Bobbie lives in According to the DM article that HG posted, it will turn into 'Have I Got A Guy For You'! Girl! To be in your slingbacks, what I wouldn't give!

"Séance" was terrifying for me, and I love watching horror films! I've never been to anything like that before, I thought it was very well put together and seriously contemplated leaving partway through even though it's only 15 minutes long. My nerves!
I mentioned in the other thread that "The Exorcist" is quite good, but more atmospheric than scary. I enjoyed the "American Psycho" musical but it wasn't really scary - they didn't even use gore, just red lighting.
I have a vague memory of seeing Ira Levin's "Veronica's Room" a long while back, but I can't remember if it was horror or suspense. I also saw a production of Stephen King's "Misery" which worked pretty well.
Like many have already said, it depends on the individual - I found Ghost Stories to be scary even though many have already commented that they didn't.
Having said all that, I wasn't brave enough to try Viva Forever...!

I went last night for the 2nd preview, and there were still technical issues - thankfully it started on time, but it took 3 goes to get the technical side sorted. Not a problem given it's a preview, but when a less patient member of the audience starts singing "Why are we waiting" it does lessen the impact! There was another technical issue in the second half meaning a rather pivotal scene had to be re-started, so tension was lost - but overall I found it really enjoyable and the lighting and use of projection was impressive. It's more atmospheric than it is scary, but then the same can be said of the film.
On the other end of the scale is the 15 minute "Séance" being performed in a shipping container outside the Rep theatre - utterly terrifying!

I'm so excited for this. Imelda will of course be fabulous. I think Janie Dee will make a good Phyllis as long as she learns her bloody lines! Every time I've seen her she's fluffed more than her fair share of lyrics. Can't imagine her doing well with Jessie & Lucy!

I love her and wish I'd seen her in the Original London Cast of "Into the Woods", she makes a great Baker's Wife on the OLC recording.

My favourite: When a person's personality is personable... It's harder than a matador coercing a bull...
And not QUITE his, but whenever I visit my parents I sing: I like the town of Prestatyn / Smoke on your pipe and put that in!

If I've understood correctly, the rights were sold to Lou Adler so 20th Century Fox own anything on screen. Richard O'Brien gets little in the way of royalties for anything on screen, but has more involvement creatively and financially with anything on stage.
I believe those complications meant there could only be one cinema broadcast of the recent Playhouse production, and that's also why it's unlikely that the broadcast would ever get a DVD release.

What is what that awful artwork though? Hmm...let's stage a gay play, let's put one of the Village People on the poster. Good casting mind, but surprised they're doing this. If I remember correctly there's a stripper dressed as a cowboy in the play. It's still an awful poster, but at least there's some relevance!

It can be lovely on a nice summers evening but once the sun goes down and it gets dark it can get a bit chilly as you are sitting and not moving around. I usually take a blanket for my poor old knees. Only once have I been rained out when I went to see Into The Woods. 10 mins into Act 2 they pulled the plug. Unfortunately as it was almost at the end of the run I didnt get a chance to go back and see it right through. Just in case you weren't already aware, they filmed it and it's available to buy or rent on Digital Theatre.
