"Pop-ing" a show is a big no no. This weird blend just reminds me of "Six". If you read pianowithsam 's comment and proceeded to think of the word "Squish": Gain +5 Stagey Points.

Same here! Our viewing choice tonight was this, or episode 2 of Chernobyl.
“Not Chernobyl before bed, too bleak...”, I said. Oops.
Still, at least I didn’t choose to put the evening news on. There are limits to how much one can handle.

How am I meant to teach my class the ly suffix when you turn on any sports program and hear "he did fantastic", or "The team played brilliant." Tunefully Tunefully Tuneful... L Y!

“I shall tell my husband that in bed tonight, he’ll laugh!”
Olive was in the first “radio” half of the live show (where the gents are dressed in their tuxedos), but they seem to have only broadcast the second half here. A shame really, as there was a great “Mr & Mrs” style quiz show sketch... strange too, as both halves were filmed and featured on the DVD release.

You’ll be given these fetching boiler suits for protection... It’s a fun night out - it took me a little while to get in the right frame of mind for the humour to hit, but once it did I enjoyed the piece. The set design is good overall, but sadly it’s poorly executed as the on-stage splatter seats obscure the view of the action, especially in the front 4 or 5 rows. For anyone going who isn’t sat on stage, I’d recommend further back and central if you can - try and position yourself so you can see the central door at the back of the set, and the small window house-left. It was a quiet mid-week performance, so I was upgraded to Zone A seats, but in retrospect I should have stayed back for a better overall view. The cast are really energetic and very funny. It’s not as scary as I’d hoped, but it’s far funnier than I expected.

Full plastic covering of outerwear needed, so I understand! I'll dig out my Alton Towers log flume plastic poncho! You should get an email the day before your performance, it seems they provide protective outerwear for those in the Splatter Zone.

I know it's more modern, and I'm incredibly old-fashioned, but I have to admit to not being a great fan of 'co-worker'. Along with all kinds of other things, some nicer than others, I hope I'm thought of as a colleague. I prefer "workplace proximity associate"

I loved that show, it was on in 2000 just a few years after the CHICAGO revival had opened. I spent a lot of money on repeat viewings of both that year!
The DVD of the Broadway production is lovely to watch, but I remember the UK cast being spectacular. Most of them had come straight from CHICAGO to Fosse, if memory serves me correctly.

It's disgusting and it has to stop immediately!
...that's what a TheatreBoard user said about the way Midlands Tonight starts almost every news article.
The presenters rely on that style far too much, it's like spoken click-bait headlines and sounds horrible.

Ahh, this brings back fond memories of Sundays at the Vauxhall Tavern, dancing away to the Wayne G remix of "I just wanna dance" Eek. I may have drunkenly crashed into you. Apologies! I loved go to the Tavern on a Sunday. Such happy memories Ooh a fellow ex-member of the South London Action Girls Society? Me too, I used to go most Sundays in the late 90's/early 00's. I was obsessed with DJ Andy Almighty's set... looking on the website it seems he still does the occasional Sunday!

My worst one was being 'upgraded' at Top Hat from centre-front of Upper Circle to first row of Stalls. It's hard to appreciate the tap dancing when you can't see the dancers' feet...
My best one was Liza Minnelli at the Albert Hall, we were bumped up to front of the rear stalls, so had great fun spotting all the celebrities in attendance!

On my goodness! pianowithsam this is brilliant and has genuinely made my day 😊 Thank you so much for turning my post into something far more fabulous! I presume “WhatsOnStage tonight” is a reference to our ancient heritage? Lovely stuff.

Lovely thread, really interesting.
Does anyone remember a print advert (I can't remember what it was for) that highlighted some of the streets in Theatre Land to show the outline of the tragedy/comedy theatre masks? I recall it used some of the Seven Dials area, but looking at a map now I can't quite imagine how they did it. Perhaps there was a little artistic license to force it to work.

TheatreBoard! TheatreBoard! How to win an Olivier Award?
Who’s in the cast? Who will direct? No, not them... I have to object!
Is there a dog? What height is the stage? Dayseats? No! That fills me with rage!
I loved the cast You really should go But oh my word Bad behaviour at a show!
Some sang along Some played with their phone Some kept quiet Not Patti LuPone!

As a counter-example, I remember a performance of Sweeney Todd in Chichester, after which a woman said to her companion that she was upset as she’d been really looking forward to seeing Michael Ball. She HAD seen him - she just hadn’t recognised him!

Ooh I hadn't heard about this until now, this looks right up my street. Funnily enough I was thinking of the "All That Jazz" movie earlier this week after getting the Chazz Busby character in "The Simpsons - Tapped Out" game. He looks familiar...

[...] I do hope they drop the 'they'e crap cos it's just a regional polytechnic' aspect though - it comes across as rather snooty. It certainly doesn't sound like they're dropping that aspect:
