Some of the newer add-ons are just plain crass. Plays to a certain type of person - usually the same person wants to clap along with the music at the end. I was impressed when I saw it, very little clapping along. I agree about the crass parts, seems to be done to make up for gavroche not having much to do now

Out of curiosity, is anyone on here going next week? Hopefully at the 2nd preview (Saturday matinee)

Anyone else get an email about a seat change? I’ve been moved by one seat (in the slips)

These offers are too good! £80ish of hairspray tickets for £20 (I had to move quick as the first date I tried sold out while I was looking at the seating plan and the second date had no £40 ones!) ok so they are the worst ones in the price band but still a great bargain!!!
(This was at bang on 10:00 yesterday by the way)

Preview on Thursday, I hope. I know the rule is to be there very early as they overbook and a lot of people with preview tickets get turned away. Last year, I had a ticket for one of the early screenings, which turned out to be the day after theatres/cinemas all closed. So that was really disappointing. Had I attended, I wouldn't have been allowed to talk about it, but as it didn't go ahead I presume I can mention it! One of my favourite musicals so I hope the big screen version does it justice (and that the cinema gets a decent appreciative crowd in, not just people wanting a free film). Both me and a friend at another screening estimated the screen was at 1/3 capacity and then maybe another 1/3 didn’t turn up. I’m sure they didn’t turn anyone away, though I got there 45 minutes before to be sure. No adverts or trailers either.

Looking at the cast, it looks like one of the children characters has been cut. I was wondering about that but thought maybe a young adult was playing the role instead, the adults don’t seem to have named parts.

Bradley ‘full mental breakdown on stage’ Jaden I’m on my way home and wow at Bradley’s Javert. I don’t remember the staged version as well, did he play it that way or is that new for the concert?

I think it was an alarm that kept going off. I first noticed it in the interval. Seemed to go on for a few minutes and then stop for a few and start up again. It annoyed me at first but I managed to block it out after a while. I get distracted too easily. My brain tries to work out the noise rather than block it. Sounded more like a slipping fan belt to me! The concert was amazing again though, I’ll be re-watching the Sunday stream too

Just came out of the matinee and my top takeaway (and I know I’m the last person to have this realisation) is that Mazz Murray is the Real Freaking Deal. Wow. Isn’t she amazing! I’m so glad she’s doing sunset Boulevard as I’m not sure I’d want to go to Mamma Mia again (no offence to those who like it). I was at the matinee too and rather distracted by the frequent squeaking noises. Too off-putting for my easily distracted self.

I was there tonight, in the front row. A YouTube video wouldn't have been the same. While we were still socially distanced being in a crowd there for the same purpose increased everything. I also love that they are doing the stream, it makes it accessible for those who couldn't travel, or get tickets, or afford it otherwise. I'm lucky enough to be going again and will be in the upper circle so get a totally different view (I might see some feet!) Could we get a full setlist please if you can remember? Hope this works:

I’m going tomorrow evening and have decided not to be cross about the livestream thingy because really I want to be back in a proper theatre. Am staying the night in town and heading off to Bath for a mini-break on Friday. I was there tonight, in the front row. A YouTube video wouldn't have been the same. While we were still socially distanced being in a crowd there for the same purpose increased everything. It’s a tricky one. The point is to promote that theatre is back. Due to the rescheduling of this and other things I’m going twice and will watch the stream too I’m sure, though not live as I’m out (I’ve got rather busy recently!!) As long as the Sunday paying audience still get a full show and no camera distractions then I think it is a great thing. A lot of concerts are filmed.

35 minutes until I finish work and head to London for this. Very excited, first time in The Palace since The Commitments I think! Who else will be there?

I think I need to start saving for this one. I loved my immersive seat at Fiddler on the Roof (a bargain one at the back which was priced higher later) and really felt I would have missed out sitting up in the traditionally cheap seats. These plans look like they do incorporate the whole theatre more though.

I've booked for Brighton, mind you, it's Nov22, I don't think I even booked Hamilton so far in advance! I’ve booked Brighton for a bargain £13 seat (further ahead than i booked Hamilton too!)

London’s matinee cancelled and tickets transferred to the evening, which is annoying as I now have to rearrange my tickets for Sunset Boulevard the same day They did the same for the Mayflower date, I got a call a few weeks back. Such a shame it isn’t selling as well as hoped (but big theatres to go for even at reduced capacity!)

I've seen Simon Lipkin in Avenue Q, The Wedding Singer, Spamalot, Rock of Ages, Guys and Dolls, I Can't Sing, The Wind in the Willows, Nativity! and Ghost Stories. As you can tell I'm a bit of a fan but only one trip was specially for him (an extra trip to Nativity in Southampton when he came and covered for a day). Did you not see him in Assassins? He was excellent in that. Oh and Miss Atomic Bomb. No. Feels bad man

Maybe they're just recording the orchestra for promotional purposes, for backing in adverts and the like (though I don't know why they wouldn't just use the existing Broadway one)? Cast recordings are so rare here nowadays I doubt they'd record a show when there's an existing recording for the same production on Broadway with the same lead. Maybe it was all booked when they didn’t have the same lead?

In my head when I’ve been planning this trip it sounded fine. In practice, I’m absolutely drained and I’m up early to go and entertain my 2 year old niece in East London for a few hours before 2 more shows on Sunday! I feel exhausted just reading that. Actually a machine 🔥 I don’t think I’ve ever done a full on 3 show day, I recall the stress of not realising how far the Hammersmith Apollo was from the West End when I included that in a 2 show day! Maybe I’ll add a morning Billionaire Boy performance to a trip!

It might have taken five months and four rescheduled tickets, but I finally got there. And honestly it was worth the wait to have the current cast rather than Ball and Boe. I’m still not sure how I feel about Bradley’s act one madness, but it certainly made a contrast with him playing it straight when he joins the students and his soliloquy was excellent. I know some of the purists might not like Shan’s take on Eponine (and honestly, I used to be one of them but I’ve got over it in my old age). She has so little to judge in act one, but I really liked her On My Own. From the BBC performance I wasn’t sure how she and Lucie were going to present within the concert itself but IMO both their performances were a perfect mix of some more modern touches but still meshing well with the rest of the cast. Several of the principles are actors who have a history in more modern shows rather than just people who do Les Mis and Phantom, and honestly I am here for it! I may now be stalking the website to see if I can pick up a front stalls seat at some point. Sometimes I think I’m crazy to be going 4 times (3 in June!) then I read a review like yours and I’m thrilled. All in upper circle but I’m on a budget!
