Agree that there are some overwhelming problems with the production, but I still took a lot from it and will probably try and see it again. The music is beautiful (for the most part, there are some glaring errors) but was genuinely disappointed with the changes made to what is the 'heart' of the piece for want of another term, Orpheus' song "Epic" which had an addition at the beginning something along the lines of Here is Hades, and Persephone, "I don't know how it ends/ but this is how it begun..." which seemed to do nothing other than ruin a really (otherwise) beautifully written song. It should start with "King of diamond, king of spades, Hades was king of a kingdom of dirt.."
Admittedly I've been a fan of Reeve Carney's music for a long time, and while I was taken with his voice I thought he was underused for all the talent he has. Strange they didn't use his musicianship for much other than some pretty flat guitar chords. I know he was what many of you felt was wrong with the show - but for me it was more the lack of chemistry he had with Eurydice than his own performance (which I found compelling). I was sat rather close (Stalls H) so can't speak to how he was read further back but he definitely interacted with the audience a lot and drew you in.
As most of you have said Act 1 should end with Orpheus' arrival in Hades, an extension of their walk out of the underworld, and more made of Orpheus' look back at Eurydice. But please, NOT more actual walking... some of that running on the spot gave me horrible flashbacks to Obsession.
I'll take a ticket to the Persephone show any day of the week. Amber Grey was phenomenal.
For me it's a a 5 star show hiding beneath 3 star direction, so you have to squint a bit to see how magnificent it could be.

Can those who have booked already advise on how sold this is already? I am anxious that I will miss out as I did in Dublin and Galway for this. You don't need to be a member to see the availability. If you add the membership plus to your basket on the website, then it'll let you see the seat availability. From some spot checks it seems like there's still a fair bit of availability. However, it's difficult to know for certain as not all seats are put on sale immediately so any greyed out seats will be a mix of 'sold already' and 'waiting until the general sale'. Thanks very much I appreciate the help!

If you were really anxious You could have become a member To ensure you got a ticket And thereby reduce your anxiety Yes I could have parsley, but as someone else has pointed out it is not always easy to shell out £59 for ease of mind. I simply do not have the extra money to do so. But thank you so much for putting me in my place.

Has anyone sat in the back row of the stalls for this? How is it?

I'm choosing between getting a couple of tickets for Row H Royal Circle and two in back row of the Stalls. My inclination is toward the circle because of the overhang in the stalls, but I'm not sure. Any advice?

I'm torn about this one.
I do really like Sam Shepard when done well (though it's often done badly)
I absolutely LOVE Johnny Flynn (especially his music) but also thought he was great in Jerusalem, Twelfth Night and Hangmen (though I agree with the poster above about The Low Road).... however I don't know if I can bring myself to see Kit one-expression-like-someone-kicked-a-puppy Harington. But perhaps he's not so bad on stage as he is in Game of Thrones?

Damn now I’m regretting not being a friend any more. Do we know prices for this yet? Hope good tickets will still be possible to get on Friday.

Initially missed out getting tickets under £30 and now I see there are more up. Question is.... what is better between partially restricted side B (4 seats in) or back row middle listed as overhang may obscure?

Not at the theatre but too exciting not to post that I saw Patti LuPone on Thursday shopping. I. Would. Have. Died. Died! But what a way to go...

I may have been the only member desperately excited for this (Walsh and Murphy for me is a perfect match - I've seen all their collaborations multiple times). I tried to get tickets for Dublin but missed out even though I was in the queue when booking opened. Still - it's coming to London and Oxford next year so will have to wait until then.

Am I the only one who was curious about Cate Blanchett but actually happier with Gillian Anderson? I've seen both on stage before and while I can admire Cate, I have always found Gillian more electric and arresting a performer.

Judging by the seat plan at SWP they’ve redesigned the staging of this. At the Hope Mill the stage was a very long, narrow thrust, with just one row of seats (maybe two) down the sides. It was actually more of a catwalk which the actors paraded up and down. I see that the SWP have kept their standard thrust design. {Spoiler} They use that design from the broadway original with Ben Vereen where the player’s hands appear through slits in a backlit cloth. It was actually a production decision to alter it for SWP as they had some issues with the long staging at Hope Mill apparently. When they knew it was going to the Playhouse they decided to alter it to make it easier for scene/set changes.

Colin Morgan was at the Bridge yesterday for Julius Caesar. He was stood next to me for most of the show, and I could have hugged him when he asked a fellow audience member to stop taking photos on her phone (which she did the first two times Ben Whishaw appeared in front of her - she promptly stopped when he asked her to though)

Well just realised I have double booked. This and John at the NT. Which should I keep and which return? You should be able to exchange either for another date. I have done at Hampstead before (assuming you want to see both)

I got an email saying "if you liked Hapgood, you'll LOVE Cell Mates!". Thanks for the tip, Hampstead, I'll save my pennies. Booked for this then received this email and thought 'Oh no...'

There's lots of places to choose from - it depends on what you're looking for and whether you want to pay for your makeup to be done or would rather a redeemable service. I work as a makeup artist and freelance a lot in Liberty where most counters will do your makeup either for a small fee or by redeeming on a couple of products. If you want to just pay for the service you can go to any makeup boutique (there's a lot in Covent Garden) or of course there's MAC but you might not like the result as they tend to be quite paint by numbers.. I've got lots of recommended artists in Liberty and also SpaceNK if you want to message me.

Not so much as some, but have booked so far: Belleville, De Profundis, Network, The Birthday Party, Julius Caesar, The Brothers Size, Amadeus, Long Day's Journey Into Night, Macbeth, Girls and Boys, The York Realist, Summer and Smoke, The Inheritance, Absolute Hell, Caroline or Change, Fun Home, Company, A Very Very Very Dark Matter... and probably some things I've forgotten.
(I didn't include other performance - but have booked 6 classical music performances, 4 opera, and 8 poetry/literary readings.)
also probably going to NY for Travesties so will also book for Angels in America and Hello Dolly if that happens.

I would have loved to have gone to this as a costume designer and collector - sadly I'm in Bath that day (well, evening) to see The Real Thing.
Curse my bad scheduling!
I'm trying to tell myself that most of those 10,000 items will either end up being expensive (STARTING at £1 doesn't exactly suggest it isn't still a lot for the good stuff) or not be what I would be after.

Here's hoping they are - and that someone for whom it would mean a lot will end up getting her balloted tickets in a secondary round.

Who? Seriously, I'd pay that. I'm paying a lot more than that to see Oscar Isaac in Hamlet, since I'm going to New York for it! I've messaged you

And so the inevitable wave of people selling their 'won through ballot' tickets for hundreds/thousands of pounds begins... (yes, I've already had someone offer to 'sell' me their winning ballot for a simple 350 pounds - erm, no.)

My favourite one person play is Misterman by Enda Walsh. It's also one of the best plays overall that I've ever seen; dark, human, revelatory. Very funny and utterly heartbreaking .
I also absolutely adore Sea Wall by Simon Stephens. I think you can still find the short film with Andrew Scott if you'd also like to see it as well as read.
Neither is in the same vein as Fleabag though (stylistically or thematically).
