Saw this yesterday and I really didn't enjoy.. I left during the interval.
- The lighting is awful, why on earth is it so bright? I hated being able to see everyone in the audience (I was in row G), I did quite like the blackout though, was a bit different - The storyline is mediocre and the songs aren't amazing either (except the opening song which I loved) - Despised the staging; having seen pictures of the stage before the transfer, it looked much better
Quite a few empty seats in the stalls, and a woman in the row in front didn't even wait till the interval to leave, she walked out during the middle of the Act 1 which was a little distracting and you could see the cast on stage staring directly at her during it lol
Having said that, the acting and singing was top notch - a very talented cast!

Worth trying the lottery on TodayTix too. I entered recently for the first time in years and won first time, might have just been very lucky or there might not be many entering these days Where were your seat located? Lottery tickets are usually first 2 rows in the stalls. Sometimes you will get a seat in the Dress Circle.

What date is the cast change? I asked before but nobody knew. Current cast's final show is September 23rd

Looks like on Twitter that the stage broke last night which caused the long show stop.
I went to get dayseats this morning and the staff were all discussing it and they said 25 people had asked for a refund! lol

Is getting day seats for this difficult? I am planning on getting some next week.

A piece in the Times theatre newsletter says that if you have a seat onstage and miss the 6.30pm deadline to be there, you may not get in. I've been lucky enough to see this twice on stage at Pinter and three times on stage at The Savoy (I actually sat onstage yesterday!) and yes - this is correct in terms of the timings. At the Pinter, they really didn't care, I sat on stage at 6:59pm once and it was fine. Last week when I went at The Savoy, people next to me were talking about how 2 of their friends didn't get let in because they missed the 6:30pm deadline (I think it's more like 6:35-6:40pm) but they're far more strict at The Savoy than the Pinter. I think it's for 2 reasons: - The Savoy onstage seats have double the amount compared to the Pinter so it takes longer to get everyone on the stage - The Savoy is a larger theatre and it takes longer to walk down to the onstage seats/bar compared to the Pinter where you literally just walked through the front door and were 30 seconds away from the seating

For shows like this, you just have to be on the look out for dynamic pricing. I managed to grab front row table stall tickets for only £80 each last year. How soon before did you get this? Booked it the day before, just kept checking the site.

Why is this show still charging £200 for front stalls seats (not table seats or those with food ) which is the price they were charging for Eddie Redmayne and Jessie (when she deemed to show up) Buckley when the current performers are vastly inferior in terms of name recognition? Ok, sorry I know WHY, it’s £££. What I’m asking is why people are paying that. What do people think they are getting to justify that ticket price? For shows like this, you just have to be on the look out for dynamic pricing. I managed to grab front row table stall tickets for only £80 each last year.

There's some onstage seats available for the 3rd, 4th and 5th July if anyone wants to still get a cheap ticket for this!

Tickets weren't as crazy expensive as I thought. 4 seats in row C (which they've said isn't the front row but it was the front row showing) are only £32 marked as RV. Bought 2 - hopefully should be a fine view still. To point out - this was during previews (booked for 5th December) and the 4 RV seats are the two ends of the row.

I can't believe it but I won the lottery! When I clicked on the date, it was 3rd row and the very last row in the stalls which were available - I did click the link 25mins late so there might of been seats in the Dress Circle too - for anyone wondering which seats you get!

It didn't seem "preview-y" to me, the show already seems in good shape. Richmond Theatre had some audio issues (mics being a tiny bit delayed for some lines and weird background noises from time to time) which was a little bit annoying.
I'm seeing it at Harold Pinter at the end of April so can report any changes.
And yep - as foxa said, they did miss out a few things about the characters which I read on Wikipedia later, which would've been good to know but isn't massively necessary. I also quite liked the social worker coming into the scenes as a narrative explaining the situation, haha.

Sorry if I'm missing joke-speculation, but I would assume it'll just be a random draw. General day seats question from an American: On Broadway there's a distinction between an in-person rush (first come first serve) and an in-person lottery (everyone's name entered in a hat). While I've been over here, I've so far assumed that day seats = rush, but then this "game of chance" is being called day seats. Is that always the case for in-person lotteries? What they're calling day seats is basically a lottery too and isn't usually what day seats are like. It sounds like the first 30 people in the 'day seat' queue will be entered into a lottery/game of chance, which is drawn at 4.30pm. And then they're also doing an actual lottery which anyone, with no limit, can join.

Forgot to say, they give you stickers to put on the back of your phone to stop you from taking photos (just like Cabaret), probably because the actors are already on stage before the play starts.
Also, it ended at 10:45pm (and it started 5mins late so it is indeed 3 hours and 40 minutes).

I’m still trying to process my thoughts but it was absolutely incredible. The acting is 10/10 - James is going to be praised by the critics when the reviews come in.
It’s as graphic as I was expecting it to be, at times I couldn’t really look because of how real some scenes look (at least that’s how it looked in the 3rd row); a lot of blood scenes and a fair bit of nudity from James and Luke.
I’ve never read the book so I wasn’t familiar with the storyline and yes it’s as depressing like you all said lol, you could just feel the audience feel sad. It was interesting seeing the audience in their onstage seats and literally seeing their reactions whilst watching the play. In terms of the onstage seating - yes it’s a bench but it is padded with cushions so shouldn’t be too uncomfortable, and the lighting on the stage is also on the three rows so you will be seen throughout the entire play.
Weirdly, most of the 2nd row was empty despite this being very sold out so I luckily had no one in front of me.

Those tickets won't sell at that price. I can imagine tourists will pay that price tbh.

Seeing this tonight, I'm sitting 3rd row in the stalls so quite close. Let's hope I don't cry lol
I'm actually not too worried about the run time so hopefully my legs should be okay.

'However, the opportunity to buy them is allocated via a game of chance that takes place in-person outside the Phoenix Theatre. There are only 10 day seats available in total, and five winners will have the chance to purchase a pair.' What is this nonsense? Just say people have to go queue up early...a game of chance? This is nuts I'm sure I saw something like this for a different show before COVID - I can't remember which one though! It's a bit odd, and the people will likely be hardcore Paul fans. Limiting it to 30 people also means you'll have to get there early which just isn't feasible for most people who work everyday.

Tickets are on sale and I managed to get through the queue in about 10mins. I loved this at the Almeida so was keen to book again, but these prices are a joke - 3rd row is £300! There is of course the £15 seats in the new set of dates but it's so far away from the stage that you probably won't be able to see much.
Looks like front row isn't on sale - assuming there will be a lottery or something; I'll just enter that everyday! lol

The website shows that this is what the onstage seating will look like: It also says "the actors will be facing away from the back of the stage for portions of the show" but for £25-£35, you can't go wrong, and it will definitely be an experience. The website also confirms a TodayTix daily lottery: "Daily from 12am, a limited number of £25 lottery tickets will be released via Today Tix for each performance."

They’ve also released £10 standing tickets for every date (not that anyone would want to stand for nearly 4 hours).
The onstage seats are honestly quite cheap compared to the pricing for the regular seats - they’ll definitely sell out so would recommend anyone who wants to see this to grab a ticket now!

Saw on Twitter that they are stopping rush tickets from next week, and day seats will only be sold if they're available.

While I was considering if I could afford this, it sold out. I guess that settles the dilemma then. Don't worry - more onstage seats are being released on the 4th of April at 12pm.
