She was a perfectly acceptable alternate Juliet in ‘& Juliet’. The dictionary definition of vanilla but she sang it ok. This made me HOWL. at least she could sing it as opposed to the lead

Dorian Gray, closely followed by Till The Stars Come Down - both spectacular in their own way.

Would anyone mind sharing a break down of the prices? I signed up but no sign of it in my inbox or junk mail yet. Stalls and Circle 158/128/89/79/64 Upper 79/64/48/39/29 Balcony 48/39/29/24 Oh that's MORE than reasonable

Prices aren’t as obnoxious for this as I was expecting and yes Fourth Wall Live are a more secure producer. I expect we’ll see a few more names announced in the weeks and months leading up to August Exactly. This'll have more theatre names in it that what we know, the LMTO orchestra and a producing team with a track record for quality (as opposed to the others we've discussed at length)- prices are fine.

Speedy this ain't.
What it is, once it settles into itself after about 20 minutes, is actually weirdly charming.
No one in this van really sing (apart from the two young female leads) which makes the choices of having a number of songs...odd, but it weirdly adds to the charm of working class London for me.
It IS too long - someone needs to take some scissors to the beginning and help it get into its stride a bit quicker. That said, I loved Bunny Christie's design (she never misses) and actually liked Ben Powers adaptation.
It's 3.5 stars for me currently (but as I round up to whole stars as a rule, it's closer to 4 than it is to 3) - I certainly was nowhere closer to leaving at the interval.
Of the three shows playing at the NT at the moment, this is my favourite of them.

Oh I'd guess that we've seen the last of Scherzy as Norma in the UK, and probably the last of this production here. She'll want to take on other roles, and any huge A List star will want to take over on Broadway as the pay will be so much better (a proper A Lister can easily earn 50-75k a week on Broadway and that aint happening here) Sad, but I can't see us getting this back any time soon I too don’t see it retuning but those kind of salaries are already being paid over here..! They are but it's not nearly as common here as it is on Broadway - it's standard there, it's largely in exceptional circumstances here.

This tour will inspire lots of bad behaviour posts, me thinks I was literally about to write '"don't cancel me but audience behaviour will be dreadful"...

I don't think it will come back to London. It will go down in theatre history as one of those shows you can say "I was there". However, in this case, I hope I am wrong as I would dearly love to see it again. I'd LOVE to see it again too, but Jamie will have other projects (and as he's very publicly said, if Scherzinger had said no the project wouldn't of moved forward) and he'll want to build on the success of Sunset in his next projects. It did feel like lightning in a bottle, but I'd love to see her do it again...

All that being said, let me ask- how do you all think Hannah Waddingham would do as Norma in this production? Stick her in the turban and some fabulous costumes please but I'm game for Wadders Norma

I did not think this came over well at the Oliviers.
The use of the actors own accents (to me) does not work and create any kind of cohesive world (particularly for me Grace and Mel) - and Hades needs to sing about another octave down...

Newsies was plagued by sound issues wasn't it? I wonder what they’re doing to sort that out for Starlight Express? Anything? I'd imagine having Gareth Owen as the sound designer will help.

Down With Love - always thought it cried out to be a musical Red, White and Royal Blue - cautious on this one as the movie is soooo good and the leads chemistry is insane. But musical theatre really could do with better and more diverse gay representation that doesn't mostly rely on stereotypes and cheap laughs The movie of red white and royal blue was dire in comparison to the novel, but I agree the novel would make an excellent show.

Can't really decide what I made of this.
Rosie Sheehy is obviously spectacular, and the piece itself is deeply unsettling, but I never felt like it held my attention. My mind was always wandering, and I think that had something to do with the direction (I'm not a HUGE Richard Jones fan anyway so likely that was an issue)
3 stars for me (almost 4 because of Sheehy but it really didn't hold my attention all that well)

Producers and creatives give the impression that they have created something amazing and can't believe the audience reaction. Some super egos I suspect not used to failure. That's unfair, it's just disappointment that it didn't work out. Exactly, Van Hove has made plenty of polarising stuff in the past (still haven't forgiven him for Obsession) and Wainright knows his music isn't for everyone - to say they have super egos not used to failure is absolute nonsense.

You can only assume at this stage that Heathers and 2:22 A Ghost Story are a front for some kind of money laundering scheme, because there's no other explanation as to why they're still around....!
(I'm kidding...sort of...)

They definitely have Broadway ambitions. I’m wondering if a West End return may be on the cards first. Wild this is considering a return, given that it was on papering sites for every night of it's run apart from the final fortnight...

If I was to have to make a bet, it would be this. Please, God, no. Enough. That would be too depressing. I hope they transfer The Deep Blue Sea from the Ustinov with Tamsin Greig. Okay now THIS I want.

I know it shocks people, but people are going, even if it's not in big numbers - it had an advance (not huge) because of Sheridan. People are going because it's Sheridan, and some people are enjoying it (me included) I'll be going at least once more to see it.
Very sad for the cast - I think they took a big risk with this by going to the West End with Sheridan - on reflection there would have been logic in somewhere like the Almeida to iron out the bits of it that needed work, and then bring it in, but they took a risk with a name like Sheridan and star creatives like Ivo and Rufus. On this occasion it hasn't paid off, but I'm still glad they did it. There has to be a place in theatre for stuff like this or we are doomed to endure musicals that sound like they were created by AI and have absolutely zero creativity (I say this as Heathers is about to return...!)
