So disappointed by this on so many levels.
On the upside - I believe Trump is all bluff and bluster, and will do absolutely eff all in his term in office. The main political parties really must now find candidates of a higher calibre for future elections.
I was home yesterday watching Fox News (or as an American friend calls it, Faux News); interviewing people voting, over and over they were saying Trump, one saying "he's such a good businessman". My Nebraskan friend voted with her daughter - her daughter reported one of the polling staff to his supervisor for wearing a Trump baseball cap.

Hold up! Danny Baker! Scarlett Moffett! Larry Lamb and Ola Jordon and Carol Vordaman. I've heard of these people. Love Danny and Scarlett.

That is such a geeky think to do and that is to keep a spreadsheet right? I must be one of these geeks too, I even shade the boxes in if the show is coming up. Eek I shade show I've attended so the upcoming shows stand out.

www.nytimes.com/2016/11/03/arts/music/opera-fan-apologizes-for-scattering-ashes-at-metropolitan-opera.htmlMr. Kaiser made it clear that he was beyond abashed by what had happened. “As a devoted opera enthusiast, the reality of the situation weighs heavily on me,” he wrote in his letter. “I impacted people who came to see an opera that was being performed at the Met for the first time in 80 years. People who came to hear what may be one of Maestro Levine’s last outings on the podium. People who came to experience top-notch singers at the best opera house in the world.”
“These are the very operatic experiences that I encourage others to partake in,” he wrote. “Just like Terry encouraged me. I am really not sure I will ever be able to forgive myself for that.” Aw bless his heart. I'm sure the Confessions of a Box Office Manager could make up a story around this, but he/she would have to change the usual last line. ...

As this thread is reviving itself, does anyone want a programme? I impulse bought 2 on the last night and I already had one anyway at home.

Me three. It's the only spreadsheet I've voluntarily used.... me four. date/show/theatre/seat/price paid/other things like cast, company I went with etc. Ditto - my spreadsheet has Column 1 = Day and either evening or matinee / Date/ Name / 2 tickets or 1 / Theatre and seat number / print at home or posting / reference number. (I "add comment" as to who I've gone with or plan to take rather than devote a column to them. And I don't do costs as I'd fear for my mental health). And yet twice this year I've booked myself to two shows on the same date! Twice! I've had to add rows for holidays too because I just appear to be that flakey. Back to the Theatre/most time in - Adelphi. Wish it were somewhere with a bit of marble (Palladium) or Art Deco (Savoy), but it ain't.

Saw this tonight and really enjoyed it. I've been avoiding some of the comments on here, Not Ryan's, of course. So I thought I was ready for shirt off Ramin. Goodness me. Added to the enjoyment factor.

Patricia Clarkson in the Elephant Man which was nicely done and appropriate, I thought.
However the recent Dr Faustus I felt the nudity was used to shock - not as shocking as what followed in terms of rape, sh*t munching, etc ...

Can I ask those who have seen it since Monday - the part where Dewey questions the kids as to their musical preferences, does he still call one of the boys "Donny Osmond"? and is the Donald Trump line still in there?

First time I've disliked the winner, although her cockney family and dog softened me a bit. Bit too posey with the lippy. Rooted for Andrew, would have been OK with Jane.

Dumb + Clown seem to be popular words. I thought it was crooked... Figured he was looking in a mirror. The Dumb Clown. (He got a mention in School of Rock last night, to many titters from the audience)

If anyone missed my "Bad Behaviour at a Show" post, I saw it again a couple of weeks ago. Walking through the maze of Charing Cross walkways to my platform there was a huge poster on the wall of Matt Henry and the Angels; couple walking in front of me stopped to look at it - they'd just seen the show too. "Which one was Cyndi Lauper" said the guy, "dunno" said the girl "she must be 70 by now, and none of them looked that old".

3 stars from me. Love Steve's review, spot on. Thought the first act was dragging in parts, second act zipped along. Kids were a-mazing! Great energy from them all the way through. First act opens with the heavy rock band doing their number prior to chucking Dewey out of the band. I wasn't thrilled with David Fynn's vocals at all, but enjoyed his slob-ness.
For a first preview absolutely outstanding, the kids were spot on - David Fynn mixed up a couple of the boys names, there was a set wobble at one point and David Fynn's microphone was muffled during that same bit, which needs to be addressed. The sound needs work too - the heavy rock background music drowned out people talking on stage at points. But overwhelmingly in good shape as a first preview.
Loved that the kids playing instruments got their own special curtain call - they really were great - in the Battle of the Bands the "grown up" orchestra (located up in the Circle on the right) came out to watch the kids play and were clapping and cheering, which I was very touched by.
Disappointed that Joel Montague is lost in the ensemble too - he was such a star in Funny Girl.
My Row E seat 15 was a great view, the rake means I could see every part of the stage, and also into the "grown up" orchestra, so can confirm that the kids really were playing their instruments. Only problem with that seat was the constant opening of the side doors, sudden flood of light from each side. I'd blame kids with small bladders but it seemed to be adults, and the ushers.

I've calculated I've seen 40 performances so far this year (another 10 to the end of the year = approx 1 per week although there are a fair few repeat shows in there). Funny Girl was an absolute favourite and a great deal of that for me was Sheridan Smith's delightful performance.
I also don't understand the point of coming on to a thread about a particular artist to rubbish them. Not your cuppa tea - fine, but why do you think anyone else would be interested?

I voted Groundhog Day too - so frustrating to not know the song titles!!! Tim Minchin put a couple of lines of one of the songs on twitter - (thanks Kathryn for the original tweet request)
"Oh if I could I'd hold the tide at bay my love, but all I have to offer is tomorrow ...."
Thing of beauty.

Wow, lots of posts since I last looked, all went a bit dotty didn't it.
I have been looking at polls, there is a dedicated news channel on Sky running stories on the election which I've been looking at, and the programmes on UK channels on Trump/Clinton. I would like to think I'm pretty much up to date on the latest on the election. I do think there are Trump voters who have been behind him from the start, have been very vocal about voting for him and are now finding themselves with egg on their face but unwilling to admit it.
I've spent a lot of the weekend watching old West Wing episodes. Classy classy stuff - oh that this election could compare.

Who cares about Montana or Nebraska! I've got two good friends who work for the Grand Island Independent Newspaper in Nebraska, both vehemently anti-Trump. Neither pro-Clinton tho ... but wouldn't vote for The Donald whatever may come.
