There are some serious issues with sound in that venue however - they are performing without mics, which means that even from my second row seat I struggled to hear what was being said when an actor was facing away from me. Luckily they do a great job of practically spinning in circles so even when missing words you can piece sentences together. I'm not sure they can do anything to resolve this for later in the run other than mic everyone up. Saw this from the second row last night. All completely audible as cast appears to be fully mic'd up. Sound was not great when I saw it a few weeks ago from the second row.. So either they fixed some issues or it really depends on where you're sitting.

I was enjoying this until the interval. Some interesting set choices and effective physical comedy. The second act was very boring, I thought - virtually nothing new added to the set (they used all they had in the first act) and the only thing that truly sparked my interest was Katherine Parkinson's dramatic bits.

Kerry Ellis If/Then is happening. I would love to see that, I hope that's true.

Also went for a slip seat, it seems like the best deal we will get.

After a dreadful twist last week, we ended the season with a really lacklustre set of lip syncs. I fell asleep 3 times watching the episode this afternoon. They managed to take a really successful series and ruin it with the final 2 episodes. Producers need to stop manipulating and let things happen. I am much enjoying Drag Race France. This week had the first ever lip sync to make me sob. So emotional. I was disappointed with the lip syncs throughout the season. My guess was that the format was the culprit - they didn't lip synch do decide who went home, so the stakes were not as high. But the lacklustre lip syncs from the finale have just debunked my theory.

I wouldn't worry about it. this is just something ATG did when theatres first reopened after covid to stagger entry times. It is never actually enforced. Thanks! Some thoughts after seeing it (which was my first time): - I don't think I agree with all the criticism about Ryan Reid, I thought he was pretty good. Not amazing, sure, but not bad either. - Lucie Jones killed it. Listening to her Defying Gravity is worth the ticket price alone. What a voice!! - I had one of the front row seats, which sell for £29.50. Would really recommend these seats as I had a fantastic view with loads of legroom, only minor things being the ensemble sometimes blocking my view, and not realising that the dragon at the top of the page was doing something! - More of a comment on the musical itself than the performance, but is it just me or was everything wrapped up way too neatly and easily at the end? Glinda went to Elphaba asking her to stop all this and let Dorothy go, Elphaba agreed and they made up and she somehow faked her death, then Glinda is somehow able to get Madame Morrible put in prison and the Wizard deposed, and that's it? Also if Fiyero is the scarecrow in this then why would he side with Dorothy? I don't think Fiyero would be aware of the whole Elphaba vs Dorothy situation at the time he befriended Dorothy.

It will be a huge waste if they don’t transfer this. I’m sure they can scale down the sets and reduce the size of the company so that it can go to a different theatre. It would still be a terrific production.

Always loved the film, but today was my first time watching the play. I had a great time and really enjoyed revisiting the story I like so much on stage. It seems they changed very little of the text when they adapted this into film, and yet the endings are quite different. Seeing the play today I felt the original ending works better for me.

When I went last month, I didn't get one in my basket initially, but it seems there was a second release around half an hour later and I got one midway back in the stalls. That’s quite helpful. Thanks!

Watched this last night - lured by the aircon. Continues my recent run of mildly disappointing shows. Can recommend seats in the Royal Circle though (via rush). Stage design is terrible - it feels like they put random clutter on the edges because they didn't know how to fill the space. Nothing is done with it thematically re the poverty. Videos are completely pointless. Acting was ok - haven't seen Amy Adams in much, wouldn't go back to see her on stage. The first 20 minutes or so are especially quiet. Didn't evoke any particular feeling re being a memory play, and weirdly, didn't transport any impression of heat or claustrophobia as would be expected. Rather than building to some inevitable climax it was all a bit of a damp squib. Do you know how difficult the rush for this has been on TodayTix? I’m gonna try it next week.

I can see the chickens tonight! It’s just a bit tricky seeing them from the front row, that’s why I missed them last time.

And it seems that Jane Lynch is also leaving earlier than planned, or did I read that wrong? Maybe Jane and Lea don’t vibe?? 😲 By the looks of it, a lot of actors potentially don't vibe with Lea.

Any american gent on the front row matinee - sorry our chat was so brief, but i hope you thought the journey from London was worthwhile. Yep, that was me, thanks for the chat! (I'm not from the U.S., though )

Also, I think Bonnie Langford is sensational in this. Granted, I only saw her a couple of times before this, so maybe I was not bothered by the whole Bonnie being Bonnie mentioned above.

I noticed they changed a few things in the production this year, but the changes were all small - maybe the biggest one is the absence of the hat with the light as mentioned above. I listed a few I noticed in case anybody is interested:
- When Billy enters Moonface’s cabin, Moonface also kneels to pretend to pray. Last year it was just Erma in front of a standing Moonface. They basically removed the sexual joke of the scene. - When Whitney confesses “There was a time I drank” just before Blow Gabriel Blow, they changed “What time was that, half an hour ago?” to something like “Do you use a funnel now?”. - Reno’s costume in Blow Gabriel is slightly different - she has some sort of red sleeves now in the same style of the rest of her dress. - When they swap clothes in the cell, they actually manage to put the jackets on all the way. It’s slightly less awkward now, in my opinion. - When we see Whitney singing in his cabin, he is shaving. I believe that wasn’t the case last year. - Mooney does not steal Whitney’s champagne anymore. - Luke shows us his deck of cards when Henry introduces him.
Again, they are all very minor changes. I’d be curious to know if anybody noticed other things.

I didn’t know about the gimmick and I actually gasped when it happened.
I had a great time with the play but do agree it goes on for longer than what it needed to.

I wonder if they’ll announce casting before or after starting to sell tickets.

I had such a great time watching this.
It was also my first time seeing the show - this is the one I tried to avoid reading much about to save myself for seeing it live. And it’s paid off! It’s a very well written show, so funny and poignant at the same time. My only gripe was Desiree choosing to stay with Fredrik at the end. I could swear she wouldn’t, but maybe it was me expecting the show to be more modern than what it actually is?
In any case, I’m so happy my first contact with the show was with this production and this cast.

where were you sat Addison - on the front row. No, I wasn’t on the front row. I was sat centre of Row G. I was sat on the front row this afternoon - a great view, by the way!

I wonder it they’ll try to actually create a narrative out of this. When I saw it at the Turbine, it really looked like a work in progress - like they were trying out some songs but would add some sort of book to the show at some point. If the song cycle format remains the same, this is probably not gonna be not my thing.

The more I think about this play, the more I like it. I was so immersed in the whole atmosphere, intrigued by the characters and fascinated by the story. If there’s anything to fault for me was the set - the play asks for something more substantial in my opinion.

They were actually £99 each at around 10:15am. Then down to £75 shortly after and eventually £65. I wonder if producers were testing the waters for how much they could charge and still sell in a couple of hours?

I’m seeing it this afternoon (double bill with Hedwig in the evening). I really enjoy the score and it’s my first time seeing it live, so I’m looking forward to it.

Oh what an evening! So many memorable moments and nice little surprises. I shouted when Bernadette Peters revealed herself, and I was very happy seeing Imelda repeating her Gypsy performance. Dame Judie Dench’s number was absolutely beautiful, and Michael Ball singing Could I Leave You was just wrong.

Also, I see they are enforcing the two tickets per person rule, which is good. I bought three tickets with my DMT membership and the theatre called me to cancel one of them. Luckily, my partner managed to login with the priority link and got an extra ticket.

I managed to get in using the priority link. Still quite a few seats available, but the front of the grand circle is all gone.
