Let’s not get into another tedious alternate/understudy/nqameoverthetitle/overentitled thread. If people can’t be arsed doing their research before booking extortionately priced tickets the fault is entirely theirs. If I was gonna pay £200 for a theatre seat I’d have had a PI take pics of the view! This is true, as is staying mindful that not all theatregoers are as adept as we are. £200 is £200. If it’s not a big deal to the booker I doubt that the people onstage are either.

Bernadette is back at the Dominion?? The People's Musical is getting revived? If only....
Oh dear God no. Some of us still have residual PTSD.

So.….I just have visions of Bette and Bernadette both backstage before a show playing rock, paper, scissors to determine who goes on that evening!

I assume the holier than thou people here always read every single bit of fine print in every terms and conditions they ever receive for every aspect of their life. Considering the inconsistencies with show websites, it's not fair to assume everyone would know to check a website as not all shows list holiday and cast into. Plus many people just book though agents that email them And even after you have booked it's liable to change, as happened last year with Kelli in The King and I, people had already checked the holiday dates and then more were added on. I'm still none the wiser if we're getting Bette or not!

With all due respect, I don't understand why it would be so complicated. If it's a sixteen week run for example:
Bette leads the first eight week. Bernadette replaces Bette for the latter eight weeks. The alternate does the matinees for the run.
Now if we take, for example, 42nd Street as the example. Lulu played the role for three or four months, then Bonnie replaced her and saw the end of the run. Steph Parry was the Standby throughout and whilst and no scheduled shows, still had that title.
How would this be any different? I don't understand how it would make it complicated if people are aware Bette plays the role for a certian amount of time only, which I imagine it would be heavily promoted as such so there would be no complaints. Every show in the West End seems to have Alternates these days, what makes this any different?

How long will the day seat queue be for each performance? Etc.

Well I'd hope that rather than drink the west end scamming kool aid the producers did have enough shame to refund or exchange tickets in that case, as they would have at Lincoln Center. You can't advertise a show starring a Tony Award winner and not take accountability if you can't provide the service.

Okay, I'm confused. What do we know for sure as of today? Officially? Nothing. Based on people with a reliable past? Dominion this Summer, limited run. Both Bette and Bernadette's names have been mentioned.

But I'm never confident with this kind of thing.

^ come on. a term of endearment. Or unnecessary language, depending on how you look at things. No matter what your views on what language is or isn't acceptable in any context, I don't think you can blame a forum moderator for wanting to keep the forum clean, it's effectively their job...

Carl Woodard tweeted last yearthat Bette Miller is reprising her role in Hello Dolly in the West End -he has tweeted in the last couple of days to say that Bernette Peters is now going to be doing the role, so you do the math.

According to MY maths, that adds up to "I'll believe it when I hear an official announcement".
