When do the £20 standing tickets go on sale? Is it once they've sold out? I feel like I've missed my chance The ones for the whole of next week have all now sold out. Not too sure on the last week of the run as I haven't been looking at those dates.

This panto run at the Palladium has been virtually sold out the entire run with top whack prices and no discounting. It surely must have broken the box office record for a Palladium Panto?

This panto run at the Palladium has been virtually sold out the entire run with top whack prices and no discounting. It surely must have broken the box office record for a Palladium Panto? It must be. I went twice last year on dynamically priced tickets. This year if I hadn't have booked months ago I wouldn't be going!

I saw this yesterday, and first off I have to commend the production/costume designers, it remains one of the most lavish productions I get to see all year. Julian Clary is worth the price of admission alone, as is Paul Zerdin, whose vent act is superb, as are his ad libbing skills. As for Gary Wilmot, he gets another astonishingly complex number to memorise and performs it with absolute aplomb. However, what is has in spectacle it severely lacks in plot and, for want of a better word, heart. They may as well have advertised this is a variety show and done away with the panto tag altogether. Dawn French, while extremely good at acting the fool, wasn't evil or villainous in the slightest, and my bugbear with any panto is if they don't make the villain evil enough. Also I don't know if it's just me, but the whole 'Nigel Havers is a has been' gag is very, very stale and became boring as soon as it cropped up. Because the truth is that he really DOESN'T add anything of note to the panto as he is given nothing to do!. So yes it is always a breezy enough way to while away a few hours but as a pantomime both Hackney and Hammersmith are miles better, in my opinion of course!

Any page mentioning “Panto Will Return” this year? We already know it will, but just wondering since they did this last year. Yes they is - with fairy dust coming from a picture of the Pladium making me think Peter Pan is the next panto. Went Friday. Still fantastic but agree it needs refreshing as some aspects are getting stale. The only new stars this time were Vincent and Flavia -utterly pointless to the plot, even Diversity said a couple of lines and the underused Danielle Hope and the dwarfs.

I’m hoping we get an understudy breakthrough this year so that they can star in the next panto, like Natasha Barnes did.

I’m hoping we get an understudy breakthrough this year so that they can star in the next panto, like Natasha Barnes did. Isn't this the first year they haven't had a "breakout" star in the lead role of that year? So we had Natasha the year she did Funny Girl, Charlie the year he did Sixpence, we've missed the boat with Marisha Wallace, so would be imagine seeing someone like Clare Halse maybe?

We saw this today and I'd managed to avoid this thread and all reviews, so I will be interested to see if I agree with the majority. We've seen the two previous Palladium pantos and thought them both great fun. Last year's was fizzing and we came out with our faces aching from laughing so much. This year, sadly, many performances were phoned in. Christmas Eve and it felt like one of those Boxing day performances when nobody, but nobody, wants to be there. The stand-out exceptions to this were the dwarves, the ensemble and Charlie Stemp who totally gave their all. The script. Oh, the script. Just awful. Julian needs to close the gate on the back passage jokes. That was basically all he uttered. The scene with Dawn trying to get off with Charlie and her miming the first lines of various songs was totally amateur and cringeworthy. The timing was dreadful. In fact, Dawn was a disappointment (though I still liked her.) Not totally her fault, but there didn't seem to be a niche for her. Last year Elaine (of whom I am not a fan, so it takes some for me to say this) was absolutely hilarious in sending herself up. Dawn didn't fit into this category and the anticipated banter between her and Julian just wasn't there. The whole thing seemed to be lacking fizz and the drab audience reaction reflected this. They pretty much gave up trying to get the audience going after the first 5 minutes. Don't get me wrong - it was enjoyable enough - but not a patch on last year (apart from the costumes which were stupendous.) We will go again, but hope it gets itself back on form. Highlights - Vincent & Flavia's Argentine tango, Gary's song (though not a patch on the tube station one) and, um.....dunno. And if you are the woman in row C of the royal circle who spent the entire first half laboriously texting Rachel in GIANT LETTERS, asking her to go and turn off your alarm, please make your way to the Bad Behaviour Thread where your starring moment will arrive presently. Little Xmas pressie from me in the meantime - if you turn on your predictive text you should be able to spell non-contactable without needing 4 attempts (and which you still got wrong... just saying.) Finally starting to see things my way hmmmmmmm? 😬 #downwithpanto

Finally starting to see things my way hmmmmmmm? 😬 #downwithpanto Aw. I was just wondering where you'd got to this year! Anyway. Big news. Now I've got your attention, I wanted to give you advance warning that I'm writing you a leading part in next year's Theatreboard panto. You'll love it. I'm already collecting curtains from the charity shops for your costume. What? Well, obviously 🙄🙄 ........🙄🙄....... the Bairy Godmother, duuuuuh.

Think Jack & the Beanstalk would be before Peter Pan... especially since there was a nautically themed Dick sequence last time! Though when was repeating themselves ever an issue?!

I saw this recently, and whilst is was amazing, I certainly felt like i enjoyed the previous 2 way more. Dawn French was brilliant but I really feel like it needs a complete overhaul for next year. They need a completely new cast in my opinion, don’t bring back anyone. Whilst Havers,, Clary and Zerdin are all great - it does feel repetitive now. If they get an entire new cast next year, it will feel more fresh. I also sat on the very end seats of the stalls, due to them being much cheaper, but sometimes felt disconnected from the action. This is weird as usually seats on the side make no difference whatsoever as I have sat on the side for shows like Kinky Boots, Jamie, Dreamgirls, Lion King and Hamilton

I doubt they will radically overhaul the casting. This year has proven that this cast will still sell after three years. Why would the producers want to change what is a winning formula on their side.

I don’t think the recurring “stars” are the problem per se - more the smug and lazy writing they’re forced to deliver. It now feels totally in love with itself and, as a result, becomes a victim of its own success. I can’t begin to express how disappointed I was by Snow White, especially after loving Dick Whittington so much the year before.
Won’t be going again unless there’s a drastic improvement.

I do agree regarding the script. But I feel like Nigel and Paul don’t need to be back again and could be used somewhere else. It just seems to be kind of repetitivenow

Just call it "Julian Clary's Christmas Innuendo Variety Show" presented by the London Palladium.

The Palladium Panto has clearly become an annual tradition again, and given the massive success of this year I would like to bet that many of the principles have already been signed up again for the next Christmas season. I nearly wrote next year but realised that it was actually later THIS year!! So I would expect to see Julian, Gary, Paul and Nigel again. They will try and book another star female along the lines of Amanda, Elaine and Dawn who has not done panto before to complete the formula.

When Julian made his first entrance he went something like .... same crowd as last year... he even singled someone out and jokingly said something along the lines of ...... oh you have, changed your hair since last year.

So I concurred last night with most of the audience around me (who like me it seemed had seen both Cinderella and Dick Whittington) that although they enjoyed the show it wasn't as good as previous years.
The production values for this are simply stunning great sets and FABULOUS costumes. The winter wonderland theme worked very well (although forgotten about in the second act) producing some stunning ensemble numbers in white and blue in the first act and a gorgeous opening to Act 2 "At the Palace" in fuchsia and gold. Some of the ensemble numbers resembled a Las Vegas show - including a full production number for Nigel Havers.
Julian Clary's costumes are worth the price of admission alone - just unbelievable. Paul Zerdin is a class act as is Gary Wilmot and Nigel Havers (hugely popular) worked his socks off with many costume changes and entrances and exits throughout the show. Charlie Stemp was excellent as was Danielle Hope - although she had little to do.
So of course an enjoyable evening at a very special theatre but...….
Although it was a pleasure to see the delightful Dawn French in the flesh - she was badly miscast as the Wicked Queen and not as much fun as Elaine Paige last year.
Vincent and Flavia were totally unnecessary ( as non speaking ghosts with only about 6 minutes stage time) with a tepid waltz in the first half but a rather stunning tango in the second.
The acrobats should have also been cut and more time given to the dwarfs who the audience loved.
Julian Clary seemed tired - those costumes must be heavy! Plus I did feel that the double entendre/innuendo was taken a little too far at times - I don't mind a double meaning - so when asked by Stemp where he could recommend for a date to take Snow White - Clary replied "Well I've been taken up the Shard" and asked where Stemp had gone at one point replied "He's just shot off up a dark passage". However, there were certain remarks which were just crude and not especially funny. Example - Nigel Havers is (in the plot) Julian's understudy and Julian remarks that he is going to be "off" tomorrow as he has a sore throat and said " I blame the third chorus boy from the left". I know humour is subjective but I found this just to be crude as there is no "clean" meaning.
I do think it needs a bit of a shake up for next year, but the box office suggests otherwise! When Dawn castigated Julian at one point saying the audience hadn't paid £8000 a ticket for this filth Julian replied "It's what they save up for all year isn't it?" A huge roar went up in the theatre!!
I did have a good evening but 4 stars this year rather than 5!

Is there an offical Instagram page for the Production?
@snow_white_ldn is “claiming” to be the official account however, it seems rather sketchy, not verified and doesn’t use the same fonts/graphics as Twitter! Should I stay away from the account?

To my Knowledge the show has no Instagram account. Just facebook and twitter.

1. Yes. Can't remember the language, but there was enough bad language in the rest of the show it didn't really have an impact. 2. Kids 3 and 4 were obviously plants. Kids 1 and 2, less obvious. One of the giveaways (apart from the bad acting) is that there were practically no kids in the building and certainly none in the area where "dad" was meant to be sitting. Saw this tonight and remembered this thread... We only had three kids tonight and the girl was called Ruby. Have they changed it?!

No Connie as others have posted, but I think one girl was Ruby, and the other (who Paul kept on calling men’s names, sang the song really fast and supposedly didn’t have a present at the end - but was then brought one) was called Evie.

All you have to do is read the comments of the social media posts of the show. People love Julian, Nigel & Paul. I'd say highly unlikely the cast will change and to be honest I don't mind if it doesn't change. What bothers me more is if they don't change the script. Keep Nigel if they have to but have him as a stand alone Character not the understudy crap for a 4th year. Also for me personally Julian looked bored as hell when I saw it. His performance was definitely phoned in so maybe they themselves are bored of it now. The definitely need two or three new faces next year. Dawn french was grand but she wasn't enough to keep it fresh.
