I agree that the televised performances are pretty shoddy, but tbh; it’s Luke Bayer that is the let down. He’s not vocally strong enough for the role. John McCrea blows him out of the water. But the ensemble vocals are canned in the actual show too? If you hadn’t noticed, sorry to burst your bubble. I hate it when I see a show and some of the singing is mimed. I feel like asking for a refund. I expect everyone in a show to sing live and give it their all. If they can’t sing and dance at the same time, they either shouldn’t have got the job or the choreography should be changed, so that they are able to dance and sing at the same time. Or just don’t sing, I’d much rather watch singers sing and dancers dance. Can you tell I hate miming yet? Don’t even get me started on that high C in Phantom!... In terms of the CIN performance, I too think Michelle was far better than I was expecting. But she’s not much a dancer, is she? Oh dear... The ensemble vocals aren’t mimed...

Does she have that much selling power? I’m never very good at judging how well known someone is to the general public. Might check her out tomorrow night as I haven’t seen Luke Bayer as Jamie yet either and it’d be great to kill two birds with one stone, or two drag queens with one dress or something You're forgetting one thing. The show is by Soho, land of the gays! And alot of gays watch RuPaul, and they'll drag their girlfriends and other gays, and then they'll drag their friends! Trust me, she will be a huge casting choice for them! Definitely seems to have been 4 full houses since she took over on Thursday

So Kerry shows off with the riffs? It's quite ironic. Her second favourite Elphaba is Alice Fearn... Kerry Ellis “Rifted” all the time apparently

Tamsin left the show this past Saturday. Kirstie will play the role of Miss Hedge until Michelle takes over. Was Tamsin scheduled to leave the show or did she leave to make room for Michelle Visage? According to a post on social media, Tamsin is heading to Australia, so I should imagine it was planned

Did anything ever get released from that filming thing that they were doing on Broadway whilst Jackie was still there at the start of the year? I would have thought it would have been for a trailer or similar but nothing seems to have surfaced

I can't find the London Les Mis thread, but my spies tell me that both the tour and London Les Mis played Aretha's I Dreamed A Dream instead of the exit music last night. I assume you mean the US tour? The U.K. tour doesn’t start until November

I have a link to the full show on my google drive but not a YouTube link! Also does anyone here know who second cover or perhaps third cover Jamie is? I know Luke Bayer is first but I’ve been wondering who the second cover would be? My guess would be Ryan Hughes would be 2nd cover (I only say that as he's the only other person with blonde hair!). I wish the programme would list all the understudies for each role - some don't get any credit for their understudy roles - such as Kirstie Skivington as Miss Hedge/2nd cover Ray, or Ken Christiansen for Hugo. There was an Instagram story a while back on Luke Bayer’s account account where he’d recorded Ryan singing along to Wall in My Head in the dressing room and he’d captioned that ‘second cover Jamie’. I was never sure whether or not he was messing around though

Saw the show for a second time today after having seen all the principles apart from Rachelle in January.
Thought Ash Hunter was fantastic as Hamilton and I much preferred him to Jamael. Loved his portrayal in Act 1 and he had a great singing voice
Giles Terera was once again fantastic as Burr
Have to say that I slightly preferred seeing Marsha as Eliza back in January. Rachelle has an incredible voice but her acting wasn’t quite as good as Marsha was at times.
Waylon Jacobs was great as Lafayette and I understood him far better than Jason Pennycooke. However I preferred Pennycookes portrayal of Jefferson.
Finally, does anyone know when they changed the lyrics of The World Was Wide Enough. Back in January the line was “Jersey, Dawn” but it had reverted to the original “Weehawken, Dawn” again this afternoon. Had anybody else noticed this?

Has the real Jamie fallen on hard times or something all he seems to wear are theses horrible outfits made out of the posters for the show. Decent promo, but my god they looks awful! That’s the kind of style he’s always gone for if you look back and it’s what they have reflected in the show. It’s personal taste, no need to be so rude

What’s the difference between a swing and an understudy in this production? Appears to be that the Swings cover the 'Ensemble' tracks on their own or alongside lead/supporting role(s) whereas the understudies cover only the lead/supporting roles. Only exception to this appears to be Luke Bayer, however prior to the announcement that he would become alternate Jamie, he was also listed as a swing

The screening was my first encounter with this show and story - other than seeing the original documentary. The mother and Pritti were real stand-outs for me. Jamie was excellent of course, but a really unlikable character a lot of the time! Unpopular view: My heart sank through the floor whenever Hugo was onstage - I thought he was truly dire, and if I was one of those kids working my talented rear end off, I'd be fuming he got a part! soz! Loved Shobna. Completely agree with you with regards to Phil and I think quite a few others do from what I've seen on this board. In Shaffield, it was played by Charles Dale (Ex Casualty Big Mac) who was fantastic. I found Phil's performance to be far less convincing

Seems we got lucky with the screening here, great picture quality throughout and we didn’t lose signal at any point. Was disappointed with a few of the camera angles they chose but overall I thought they done a good job with it all. Sound quality seemed a bit patchy but that mainly seemed to be when they switched cameras. Yes it was an expensive ticket, cost us £22 in our local Odeon but it sold quite well (around half of one of the bigger screens) and it still worked out far far cheaper than getting to and seeing it in London. Second time seeing the show, first with Josie and Shobna, must admit I did really enjoy their portrayals. Need to get myself to London to see this again with them both, need to hear Josie sings ‘He’s my boy’ properly live Be quick! She leaves alongside Phil Nichol next Saturday

Hello all! I am new to the site and apologize if my question has been already asked. I am traveling from the U.S. to the West End in late September. So far, I am seeing Tina, The King and I, and Company. I would like to see Jamie and have a question. It seems like the best seats for the show are being held back for all performances. Does anyone know how close to the performance they go on sale? Thanks! I don’t think this is the case unless you are referring to the dayseats. These are on the front row and the stage is very high so they’d aren’t the best seats in the house

Who normally plays young loco? Just one of the school kid ensemble lads? Because I've just thought maybe the reason the drag shop scene is so long is so the actor can get in and out of drag? It’s usually played by James Gillan who also plays Tray Sophisticay

Luke Bayer has been announced for Prom Queen at The Other Palace. Is he leaving or taking a LOA? It’s only for two performances I believe

Ticket sales are nearly always above 80% capacity. What makes you think the ticket sales are poor? 80% capacity doesn’t mean 80% gross potential... Correct, however the comment made was with regards to ticket sales, and given that the West End Grosses aren't published, it could have only been a reference to the physical number of tickets sold. I therefore responded with a post about capacity.

I'm fully expecting at least one of the replacements to be star casting in an attempt to boost ticket sales. Because despite the extension, the ticket sales aren't amazing for this, so hopefully a boost in sales will see it futher its life in the West End. Ticket sales are nearly always above 80% capacity. What makes you think the ticket sales are poor?

Just watched the WEL performance. Am not really on board with Luke as Jamie based on that. To me his voice didn't sound that great and the accent felt like it was getting in the way and was a distraction to me, unlike John's performance I saw in the show. That said, I'm sure hes good live. Try watching one of the videos that has been recorded from the audience. For some reason, with most of the performers, the soundboard audio on the official videos makes them sound a little off in places. I was surprised at how different some people that I’ve seen before, such as the kinky boots cast sounded on their recordings. I was much more impressed and found that they vocals sounded much closer to what I expected when I began watching videos which had the audio from the audience’s perspective.

People being rude to witches is really nothing new. Poor Alexia got the brunt of it. Just for her terrible crime of not being Kerry. This is above the level of being rude. If you take a look at some of the comments she leaves on videos, they are disgusting
