Can you have two bookings on the same card for the same performance. The seat next to me is available for my mam to come with me but she wants me to get it. Yep- just have both emails and they’ll swipe your card twice at the entrance. I bought a pair and then added a third seat elsewhere for the same performance for myself, my mum and sister and it was all grand!

Just started listening to Classic FM’s Case Notes, a true crime podcast relating to classical music. Some amazing stories being told!

At a convention yesterday John Barrowman mentioned during his performance (less of a typical convention panel, his thing is part-stand up comedy, part singing session) that they were looking at taking this show with Seth Rudetsky on tour to venues with 500-800 seats so it’d be a little more intimate. It sounds like a fun show, storytelling and singing through his career.

I’ve been six times and love that I haven’t seen the same full cast twice. Not sure if my previous remark was misinterpreted there.

I’m seeing the matinee again on Saturday, anyone know of any planned holidays? To give you some idea: Marsha Songcome and Miriam-Teak Lee were on as Eliza and Peggy/Maria last night but I believe both were unscheduled covers. Hope you have fun! Sat in the GC Slips last night (5 and 6) and have to say they were pretty good value for money. A bit restricted but if you’ve seen the show before that’s not too much of a problem. Marsha Songcome continues to be a very spirited and emotional Eliza, which I absolutely love. And not to sound like a certain other thread on this board - some great unexpected (to me) riffs last night from Eliza, Angelica and Burr - but luckily not overdoing it. I still haven’t seen the full lead cast at the same performance, which is just funny to me now.

The tutu comment is definitely in reference to the previous RB production, where they had dreadful long skirts that masked the footwork as well as just looking plain awful! I don’t miss the Dowell production one bit after seeing the Scarlett incarnation! (ETA: here’s a fantastic article about the tutus, the complaints over the long skirts and the decision to go back to tutus: www.ft.com/content/48414f86-4d37-11e8-97e4-13afc22d86d4)I saw this on opening night and thoroughly enjoyed it, it’s a massive improvement on the previous RB production and has some absolutely gorgeous costume design. The first act has been moved to an outside setting which brings some much-needed visual light into the story. The sets are incredibly detailed and the audience even applauded at the start of act three on opening night. Scarlett has done some good work with the additional choreography and sensibly kept the Neapolitan dance as the Ashton one. Marianela Nuñez was stunning as Odette/Odile and Vadim Muntagirov almost stole the show as Siegfried. Although I would definitely change a few things (the act three divertissements weren’t great, aside from the Neapolitan, the ending a little off-balance) it’s a great production and I’m hoping to see it again as soon as possible!

I went to a screening today and it was really well-filmed, I enjoyed reliving it. Robbie Fairchild is an incredible leading man, and I hope we see him back in London soon. The choreography is just sublime, the second act ballet is even more breathtaking on film.

. Also love Empire Magazine’s film podcast, it never fails to make me laugh. . Also a fan of the Empire Magazine podcast - the best bits are genuinely when they’re just chatting with each other about film and TV, and disagreeing with each other’s reviews. There’s the occasional Hamilton running gag because a couple of the regulars are big fans and their spoiler specials can very good. Have you ever been to their live shows? They’re even better live, there’s so much nonsense that doesn’t make the cut!

I’m a big fan of Anna Faris’s Unqualified, where the Hollywood actress talks with guests and takes listener calls to give advice. Some really interesting interviews and views on life. Also love Empire Magazine’s film podcast, it never fails to make me laugh.
I’m another West Wing Weekly fan (and the Hamilton special episode was excellent)... & I’m not sure if there’s any (ice) hockey fans here but the Steve Dangle Podcast is lots of fun.

Speaking of Natalie, I wonder if she will be asked to cover up her tattoos for the role? She has loads, particularly a large one on her chest which obvoously won't be an issue costume wise for Kinky Boots, but she has two large one on her legs which for the final outfit will obviously stand out. So i wonder if those ones anyway will be covered up? Lauren has never screamed tattoos to me, but it will probably not be an issue. Kirstin Maldonado just played the role on Broadway and while her photoshoot pictures didn’t seem to have visible tattoos she didn’t have them covered while on stage - at least according to curtain call and backstage photos.

I posted about Manon in the general thread a couple of weeks ago - I saw the Nuñez/Bolle cast and was so wowed I bought a rush ticket for their second performance. I’m also going to see Francesca Hayward dance Manon in a couple of weeks. It’s a ballet I didn’t care much for the first time I saw it (last revival) but Marianela Nuñez and Roberto Bolle was so incredibly moving that I think it’s quickly become one of my favourites.
For anyone who has Sky Arts, a recording with Roberto Bolle in is currently in the catch up section. I watched it on Sunday and it’s a real treat.

I saw this tonight! While I didn’t like all the music choices, the arrangements were mostly really good. I’m not entirely sure if the singer/narrator thing worked, but the show overall was good fun. Anna Francolini and Will Young chewed up the scenery a fair amount but Zizi Strallen was so damned charming I couldn’t help liking the main love story. A few really lovely moments (Time After Time was a highlight for me, I love the film so that iconic moment dancing on the roof was one I was really looking forward to) but also a few terrible Aussie accents. It really captured the surreal feel of the film and also the light and colour with all the costumes and lighting.
Oh and the legroom in the middle of the royal circle was unexpectedly bad, considering I’m a mere 5’5”. Not a full house though so room to move around a bit! I hope this one picks up in audience numbers as it has a lot of heart.

Little bump in this thread because I just have to express how incredible the Nuñez/Bolle casting for Manon was. I saw Manon a few years ago and didn’t really take to it, but last Wednesday went out of love for Marianela Nuñez and curiosity about Roberto Bolle and the atmosphere was just electric. The ovations went on forever! I adored it so much that I bought a rush ticket for the following Monday (last night) and it was just as good, if not better. I hope we’re lucky enough to see Roberto Bolle back here soon, especially paired with Nuñez. I was there also last Wednesday. Manon is a great production and Nuñez and Bolle were, indeed, excellent. There are a couple of times in the ballet when I was wishing they would get on with the dancing, but when they did the waiting was worth it! I’ve never found Manon quite so moving before! Wednesday I had seats towards the back of the amphitheatre and still felt moved, yesterday was one of the pillar-obstructed seats in the stalls circle and it was just as devastating. What an excellent pairing! I’m not even the biggest Macmillan fan (barring Romeo and Juliet— the ROH are going to get a fair amount of my money next year for that, eek) but it really connected on both occasions.

My ROH season has been pretty good overall- Magic Flute and Alice to start, Sylvia was a fun production, skipped another Giselle in favour of The Winter’s Tale and the Bernstein celebration had some really high points. Now I’m fully in Manon-mania with a third performance to go next month (the Hayward-lead cast), quickly followed by the new Swan Lake and then I’ll be finishing off the season with Don Giovanni.

Words cannot express how much I hate “Playing Nancy” from Groundhog Day. I get what it’s trying to do, it just doesn’t work for me at all.

Phillip/Laurens was also the principal actor! It's my fourth time seeing Hamilton and I haven't seen the entire principal cast at the same time yet. As for ensemble: I noticed two female swings and one male (covering the James Reynolds track), but don't quote me on that. Honestly they're very slick and it was faultless apart from one moment where I think I heard a dropped line but I've been doubting my memory on that one.

Okay so, my lottery-won seats turned out to be front row and just off centre. To gain admission I just showed the screenshot I took of the “you’ve won” page on the app, no need for ID as my name wasn’t on there, then had my card swiped as before at the main doors then found out my seats at that point!
Fantastic cast on this afternoon - I really think Marsha Songcome makes a strong and compelling Eliza. Ash Hunter was on for Hamilton himself, and I loved how full of emotion his portrayal was. Sifiso Mazibuko was on for Burr, Miriam-Teak Lee as Angelica and a fantastic Peggy/Maria debut from third cover Courtney-Mae Briggs. Seeing it all up close is taxing on the neck and the music balance is off at times but it was so wonderfully engaging.
Still thrilled that months of lottery entering finally paid off in such a great way. Now to enter again and again and again...

Just won the lottery for tomorrow’s matinee! Very excited! Where did they place you? Stalls ,Balcony etc I completely forgot to ask! So it’ll be a surprise when I turn up tomorrow I guess! I was trying to get the call done quickly while at work haha. They did say there’s a glitch on the app where it won’t realise I’ve claimed my tickets which is somewhat unnerving.

Vue are doing a singalonga version with the lyrics up on screen karaoke style. Fully authorised bad behaviour. It will end in tears. I'm going to a singalonga show of this in Sydney in a fortnight. It's a whole evening event in a proper old theatre with 'pre-show activities'. I'm hoping this means Hugh Jackman wandering around in his ringmaster outfit. I went to the London one (first of the singalongs) and we got free t shirts, the director popped in to introduce the film and there was a costume contest where an adorable small girl in ringmaster get-up won Hugh Jackman’s top hat from the film. I’d only seen it once previously so having the words on screen was a blessing, it was a really fun event though! I think I enjoyed the film more in that setting.

I saw this last week and it was just beautiful. Surreal at times but incredibly moving. I’m a big fan of GDT (including Pacific Rim, which I see being debated above!) and this one is no exception.

I had a poke around Ticketmaster today and looking at October and there’s a lot of unsold seats although it seems to be £75+ or the £20 slips. The ones I sat in today (GC C1 & 2) are also one of the areas doubled in price, and with a slight restriction (can’t see the balcony corner nearest you) too that is not worth £75 each.

I enjoyed it, a solid good film and interesting performances. It gave me a huge urge to watch Frost/Nixon afterwards though (which I have to say I prefer!)
