I have come to the conclusion Louise Dearman needs to return to this role... she just needs too! It was the first thing I ever saw her in. Fell in love. She was incredible! It's the show that made me follow her.

So interested in this! As a non Londoner how easy is it to get to Chichester? I normally go to London and do 2 shows in a day - would this be impossible visiting here? Apologies for my complete lack of knowledge! Chichester is theoretically a simple enough train ride from Victoria (changing in the region of Brighton). If you're just doing a matinee at Chichester, it's usually easy enough to get back to London in the evening, but if you're doing an evening show, you do run the risk of missing the last train. I usually drive, as there is theoretically plenty of reasonably priced parking, and I have friends who take a hotel for the night, both of which are definitely less stressful for travel! Thanks for this - lots to think about!

I saw this last night. I have never seen the film or heard the soundtrack but booked because of Jon.
I loved it. Yes, it is mindless trash but it is feel good mindless trash. It's a real escapism piece where you can just sit and enjoy for 2 hours and go "well that was fun!" As previously mentioned I am a big fan of Jon and he did not disappoint. His vocals were incredible and I loved seeing him dance. He really carries the show.
The other stand out for me as actually Ray Quinn. He doesn't have a huge role but he owns the stage when he comes on. The girls (Cassie Compton and Roxanne Pallet) were good but I felt overshadowed by their male counterparts.
I enjoyed the score and came out humming a couple of songs. I also added it to my spotify so it didn't something for me! A couple of technical issues but nothing major. Highly recommended.

It's too big a subject cover if you're going to spend time lovingly analysing individual songs. I've decided it's like walking round an exhibition with a companion and having to follow their interests and go at their pace. You still get to see good stuff but you might have preferred to linger here, and skip this bit altogether.. Couldn't have said it better myself! I was surprised he skimmed over Cabaret so quickly yet spent so long on Fiddler. Still enjoying it very much.

Well they saved the best til last! A whole different level to everyone else! But will he look too old if they cast the rest from 19 year olds? Great voice, no doubt about it. This is very true!

I was about to write a review until I read Steve's and realised I cannot match that! I echo most of his thoughts. We were sat in C9/10 and really struggled to hear the singing. We mentioned it to the box office after and apparently the speaker that has the singing is directed out to row D onwards and that they had had a couple of complaints from row C and he would pass the feedback on. Luckily I knew most of the words anyway but my mum really struggled to hear what they were saying.
I also adored it - in particular Angel and Collins. Heartbreaking!

Hi all, If you are successful for the lottery what time are you usually told? Thanks. I've won twice and both times I found out four hours before the performance. Brilliant thanks! Fingers crossed!

Another vote for Flowers for Mrs Harris. A truly beautiful story. A VERY close second would be Jesus Christ Superstar at the Open Air. Can't wait to see it again next year.

West End I try to keep everything under 40 pound, although this is becoming more difficult. For something I am really excited about (Hamilton) I would be willing to pay up to double.

I presume they are doing the revised version, that Bernadette Peters starred in? Are Tommy and Winnie included? They often get cut. Is the original version still available? I dont understand why shows need to be updated. These are classics! Yes some of the themes might be outdated but why cant people enjoy what the original authors intended. Is the song 'Im An Indian Too' so offensive it has to be cut? The original has a special place in my heart! Tommy and Winnie are both included. They were ok, but their vocals were a little shaky at times. I'm An Indian Too was not included.

I caught this last night. It is in pretty good shape for the second/third preview. I haven't seen Annie Get Your Gun before and I only knew a couple of songs but I loved it. As always, Anna-Jane Casey was absolutely outstanding - she does completely carry the show. Her singing was glorious, fantastic dancing and she stayed in character the whole time. During her ballad 'In his arms' she accidentally caught part of a door that suddenly slammed on the floor but she didn't even flinch. Ben Lewis was a bit of a mix bag - he didn't really make this unlikable character that likable. Similarly, he wasn't as fanciable as Michael Xavier (I fear I have now been spoilt by him!!). His singing was lovely though. Ensemble was very strong and the dance numbers were perfect. I would highly recommend a visit to Sheffield.
On a side note, the theatre's air con had broken last night and it was terribly hot and uncomfortable and the lighting was poor. They struggled to find any of the actors on stage! That being said it is a preview and I imagine that will be ironed out quickly.

Apologies if this has already been discussed. Does anyone have any recommendations for decent but not too expensive seats for this? I don't really fancy forking out 75 but I am keen to see it! There's a front stalls ticket on sale here for £59.50 or maybe an offer would be accepted if it hasn't gone yet? It's for tonight - 3rd Dec. www.theatreboard.co.uk/post/56376Thanks for the heads up! Unfortunately I live quite a way from London or I would have been there!

I am so gutted. I absolutely adore Carousel but I cannot see how anyone can think that Alfie Boe could be Billy Bigelow. It is truly beyond me. I won't even start on KJ. What a disappointment.

Well this must have been completely lost on me because I hated it. I booked because of Kerry and Ramin having not heard any of the songs before. Thank god - dreary songs that all sounded the same to me. I also disliked the book - what is the point? Are you meant to care about any of them? Are you meant to feel for any? I certainly didn't. Plus the twist suddenly came out of nowhere (for me) and was very quickly over. I also didn't get the final song.
I sat in C8/9 which I think is as a close as you could get as you only really missed feet. I paid 32 - thank god I didn't pay full price. I am so disappointed as I desperately wanted to like it but if there was an interval - I would have left!

I saw this yesterday matinee. I'm a big fan of Hamilton but hadn't heard a lot of ITH. I loved it! David Badella was out so we had his understudy but everyone else was on. I sat in D22/23 on Platform 2 which were great seats from Love Theatre. I really loved Arun Blair as Benny - his voice was glorious (I could also hear him as Aaron Burr!).

Apologies if there is already a thread for this but I caught this yesterday. Sophie-Louise Dann is already a favourite but my god is she brilliant in this! I have seen Imelda do it and (runs for cover) Sophie-Louise is better. I didn't really rate Michael Ball when I saw him and Hugh Maynard could sing it better, although his Epiphany let me down a little. I think he could have given more. Jack Wilcox and Christina Berrington were a lovely couple together and for once Johanna didn't drive me crazy! Simon Shorten was also outstanding as Pirelli. The set was brilliant and the use of the revolve was really well done. Unlike the Ball/Staunton production which had little twists to the set, this production simply does it like the period it is set.
A really brilliant afternoon and a bargain at 16.50! If you are local to Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire - go and see it!

Recently I have enjoyed the Waitress soundtrack. I love the song 'Door number 3' which was sort of cut/reworked into 'what baking can do'. I do think the new song seems to fit the theme of the musical more but I do love door number 3 also!

I saw this last night for the forth and final time. I loved it at the start and I loved it last night. Everytime I write on here I say I could listen to Rebecca Trehearn's 'Bill' everyday; it's still true! The new Joe was fab too. Absolutely love this show and very gutted it's leaving!

I saw this yesterday afternoon. Firstly, it was absolutely scorching (someone in the audience did it pass out) and the cast were amazing. You would not know that they were feeling it as they were so professional. Originally, I booked to see this for a few weeks ago but couldn't make it. I was excited about Declan's casting and did feel disappointed to find out he was scheduled to be off yesterday. I needn't have worried. Billy Cullum was outstanding - small in stature but with a huge, huge voice. He didn't go for the high notes but I think it worked within this direction; his voice suited the rock style. Having seen Glenn Carter hit all the notes I much preferred this style which I think focused on the acting. I did tear up! Without repeating everybody else I simply loved it. Loved the direction, loved the choreography, loved Pilate, loved Mary and absolutely loved Judas. What a talent Tyrone Huntley is. This is my favourite ALW score and my god was this direction worth it. The best thing I've seen this year - I can't wait for the transfer!

I absolutely adore Carousel. It is my favourite R&H and an all time favourite. I think 'Soliloquy' is a perfect song to change the shift in Billy's attitude and thoughts (hence the change of pace etc). I also think it's needed to show Billy isn't a complete idiot (albeit he is quite flawed) and it sets up act 2.
I always thought Mr Snow was meant to juxtapose Billy: he's somewhat stuffy, straight laced, borderline boring but ends up being hard working and successful. Take whatever message you want from that! (I always thought you need the perfect mix of Snow and Billy). Similarly the two relationships are juxtapositions from each other.
The subject is somewhat controversial but I adore it. Billy is extremely flawed but clearly has love inside him. I love the journey he goes on (and I also sob at the end!)
I tend to the listen to the 1993 soundtrack myself as its always the first I find on Spotify.

I saw this again last night (3rd time - once in Sheff and once in London). Still adore it but agree about the sound. I found it difficult to hear some of the words during ensemble songs and Captain Andy was virtually impossible to make out. I didn't buy a programme this time but I am sure the ensemble was smaller than normal? Unless they have simply left the show. I only saw it in April though. Anyway, I still loved it. Joe sounded a little tired to me but everyone else was wonderful. I much prefer Chris to Michael Xavier (runs and hides) and Rebecca Trehearn is the best thing in it for me. 'Bill' is the best part of the show. Love it. Determined to go and see it again before it ends!
