I don't understand how anyone can camp for 4 days for a ticket. Don't they have a job that pays them enough that 3 days of work can buy them a ticket?! Don't they have ANYTHING better to do than sit and wait???

Will they do rehearsals in English just for her then?

Having thought about my answer to this for a while, I have come to the conclusion that I can't/shouldn't really answer as most of the musicals I have seen I have only ever seen one production of with one set of actors, so I have no idea whether I'd enjoy them as much if they were any different. However, that aside, simply in terms of enjoyment of things I have seen I'd say:
1) Singin in the Rain 2) Mary Poppins 3) City of Angels 4) Sunset Boulevard 5) The Phantom of the Opera

There is discussion in the JCS thread of that transferring - if they can find a theatre, why can't Groundhog Day?

Do we really think this will close and not transfer to a 'normal' West End Theatre at the end of the Old Vic run?!

I love Broadway.com but these awards are totally invalidated by the fact that you have to vote in every category. A lot of people voting (especially Hamilton fans I would guess) may never have seen a single one of the shows including Hamilton and so are voting at random!

She was really struggling at Wednesday's matinee. Would people rather see her sing it terribly and possibly do herself real damage than not see her?! Honestly

Huge thanks to whoever suggested the £19.50 seats, so so glad I didn't sit anywhere else as the view was perfect! Better than from the £105 seats at the Coliseum
I enjoyed the show - some good songs, some great performances, admittedly some dodgy accents but definitely glad I went!

Just because many people booked "for Glenn" doesn't mean they are entitled to anything surely! They were just mistaken in assuming (if that is what they assumed, which I find hard to believe) that she would be on for every performance and they had bought a ticket which guaranteed seeing her. Personally, I booked a ticket to see Michael Xavier. He is not on the poster but whether he was or wasn't would have made no difference to my disappointment if he wasn't on, but that is life. People's misguided idea that they are buying tickets for a Glenn Close concert is simply wrong (as, it seems, most people who bothered to go last night found out when Ria Jones was a good Norma!)
As for the exchanging-out-of-the-goodness-of-the-ENO's-heart (or bank balance), while it's a lovely idea in theory is just not practical. Even if there were enough seats in the run to rebook everyone tonight, what if Glenn is off tomorrow? It's even less fair to exchange some people and not others than to exchange no one.

Does anyone know when Rachelle is back in the London production? I want to see her against Eva. So Rachelle's back on May 12, as a co-member posted above. Eva tweeted that they'll perform together on every show in their respective runs. Confused as to why they wouldn't be...?

Have been thinking about orchestras recently and realised how little I know about them. Do they have "understudies" for each instrument? What happens when someone is on holiday? What about the conductor?

New poster here! Hi everyone! There was a weird incident during today's matinee. Was anyone else there? Towards the end of the show, a man in the audience (not sure what level, as I was in the top balcony and couldn't see) began to yell something along the lines of, "Excuse me! I have a question! Is Glenn Close on stage?! I came to see Glenn Close!" The ushers on my level all rushed to the sides to see what was happening, but it seemed to get taken care of quickly and the show wasn't stopped at all. Still thought it was strange... Yes I was - very odd indeed! I thought it was a woman and she was in the stalls...impressive of Michael and Fred to carry on, it really threw me!

*SPOILERS*
So I just finished watching the film of sunset boulevard and I am confused why, when the musical is basically word for word the same as the film, they would cut out the crucial line that explains why Joe flips out at Betty? That scene made no sense to me in the show but makes a lot more sense in the film! No idea why they would choose to cut the line

I wonder if Ria Jones will be on any of the upcoming shows. I would love to see her take. I am not sure La Jones will get a look in. Glennis is relishing every night. I also feel there will be MUTINY if Glennis is off. People are paying to see her - particularly since the triumphant reviews. Does the full cast do the matinees too?

Did we lose all the Wicked fans in the move to the new forum? I was expecting this thread to have 10 times as many pages as the others already!

Has anyone sat in stalls seats 1? Am considering splashing out on F1 but not sure if there'll be a restricted view...thanks! Alternative is front of upper circle - is the view there good enough to balance out lack of legroom?

The £19.50 seats that have a great view - are they the circle front row with restricted view ones, or the back of the circle? Thanks

I am dangerously in love with this show and running the risk of spending all my money and time seeing it get again. Is 3 times in 3 weeks too much?

Do we think there'll be a cast recording of this? Don't want to buy an old one if they'll do one with MX, Siobhan etc

Yes, just with a few more clothes normally. I was glad they didn't go down the US tour route of having Norma coming out half way through the song and putting sun cream on Joe. That was all rather odd and distracting. Sounds like there's been far worse than being forced to look at MIchael Xavier!

Will they have someone else play Rose at the beginning? Having Barbra play her aged 50 is already a stretch, the idea of her playing a 30 year old is laughable!
