Came across this on BBC radio at work today & listened, what a wonderful radio play.
The way the story weaved & changed & a very clever music cue I thought it was riveting.
This wasn't on my radar but the radio play has intrigued me but now I've experienced it in that medium I do wonder if I need to see it played out on stage.
It's worth a listen on player if your interested in the piece.

I think Ben Richards is perfect for the role, I was hoping for Lloyd Owen as didn't see the original cast of this show but Ben has a lovely voice and is nice to look at ;-)

Ghost, Viva Forever! (yup, you read that correctly), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I Can't Sing!, Made in Dagenham and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Agree with you on all bar (Choc factory and the broke down women - never appealed to me and haven't seen them!)

I'm rather tempted by this due to Rebecca Caine being in the cast - I met and chatted with her after 'The Milkdo' and she was charming and sweet - Had quite a few exchanges with her on Twitter ever since...plus this theatre is on my list to visit (I am gutted I didn't get in gear for 'Show Boat')

'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' I think it's such a charming, smart show with a great memorable score. Back on the old forum a lot of people remarked it had a not so memorable score which I've never agreed with.
I would also say 'Sunshine on Leith' - it has a good reputation but underrated as it hasn't played a main West-End house, it was a delight getting to see it at the Bridewell last year!

Oh 'Cats' is up there, saw this in my childhood and even then I just didn't understand what the fuss was and why is was a hot ticket, must see show - I haven't gone to the recent revival or ever seen again since the 90's!!
Unpopular opinion but I must say 'Kinky Boots' - I did have a nice evening but I found the book so weak with so many unresolved plot lines and under developed characters. I went in thinking this was my new 'show' so maybe my expectations were a little too highly pitched, I have a feeling I will end seeing this again soon as my sister has mentioned she wants to go see a musical with me and hedging my bets she will pick this show so perhaps I will have a change of heart upon 2nd viewing (happened with 'Mamma Mia!' for me!!)
Oh 'The Book of Mormon' glad I can see I have seen it, won online lottery tickets last year. It was amusing, had some good numbers and moments but would't want to sit through it again and thought it was overrated - saying this the friend I took declared it to be the best musical he has ever seen!!

I don't have too much desire to see this one again on stage but would love to see Sophie Issacs take on the lead female role.
I not think I will with the slew of new shows for this year now on my radar but look forward to hearing your reports on her performance, she was blooming brilliant in 'Made in Dagenham' and deserves some spotlight!!

Enjoy BurlyBeaR!
I have not seen this on stage but have listened to the USA cast recording and it's campy 80's fun! I have seen the original film on TV (I do have on DVD) but never seen it all the way through, I really enjoyed the remake a few years back (saw at cinema, have on DVD) and that is on Netflix now!

Well the promo shot of Declan has sold this to me ;-) He really suits a beard!
Another venue I have never booked in advance for but agree this is a likely seller, need to look at dates - Never experienced JCS before

This show sits along 'Let it Be' and 'Motown' in my no thank-you very much...I would go on a freebie but not part a single cent for a musical tribute show that these are, they just have zero appeal!!

What I love this the discussions that this shows seems to provoke, it wasn't a darling with critics but seems to have repeat audiences and a core fan base over on Broadway (and of course those as expressed on here not fans of it!).
I can only go on the cast soundtrack and all the television promo performances/promo videos I have watched and I fall into the I can't wait for this to fly into the West-End camp!!
I might finally have my new 'Made in Dagenham'

My heart turned a flutter for the cute G.I boys in 'Miss Saigon' I loved the 70's costumes in Act 2 & then swooned in those blue suits 'American Dream' ?

Disagree about blended together, the parents both show the difference in attitudes and manner well. The father is very central to the plot, in the same way that Billy's father is in 'Billy Elliot'. Those characters have their own journey arc, prejudices and regret and stubbornness to overcome.
I also think he was wonderful and an asset to the show through his performance and take on the role. He is the one that brought tears to my eyes twice when he let's his daughter go at the end.

I'm a little tempted to go see this one last time this week (would be 3rd time) despite other's opinions on here, personally really enjoyed the show and enjoyed listening to the cast album on the way into work today.

Super happy that 'Spotlight' won best picture..It was between that and 'Room' for me but I had just thought 'The Revenant' was going to nab it - that has good performances and some inspired moments of direction but overall it's a rather boring and long winded 3 hours of a movie to sit through, 'Spotlight' was a pulsating piece with a wonderful cast, with gripping storytelling and smart direction.
I like that 'Brooklyn' get nominated but knew it was even in the running.

I would welcome a return of this show.
I was quite in awe when I saw all those years ago, the song 'Journey Home' is a favourite of mine.

What a lovely production this is, I had a charming evening at this show last night.
It's old fashioned and niche, I don't imagine it lasting beyond it's current limited run at the Noel Coward theatre but if to goes to the right venues will work to go out and tour.
I have only seen the film once (I recall on a plane years ago) so I don't know the movie inside out and only remembered the vague storyline so felt quite fresh to the plot again going in and hurrah there was a plot and was a good book - although my big niggle was the awful man from 'Eastenders' - it was unfunny and cringed every time he broke the fourth wall - If I had my way the character would be completely cut.
I thought the songs were suited to the piece, I don't think it is the most memorable score in the world and there isn't a break-out song but all sung well and all quite charming.
The audience in last night was an older crowd, I was in stalls row D and the 3 levels seemed full - I think the 4th level was closed. Standing ovation at the end, I could be swayed to go along to this again during it's run. I must say it was a lovely audience, not a single bad behaviour spotted - no checking of phones, full silence when the overture started!!

I must admit I wouldn't mind seeing Gary Lucy take his kit off and doing 'The Full Monty' ;-)
Love the film, not seen the musical or play version
